Japanese offical artbook & guide .. Cassandra, Korean, Setsuka, side story

I have to go to bed but here's a bunch of text for Kilik. I need to find some kind of good lighting setup for taking photos from the artbook. If it's too dark it's impossible to see anything, if it's too bright it's impossible to see anything because the paper is way too reflective!

That's very good, thanks. Looks like it will be greatly useful, all the text looks clear and visible (even those a bit blurred in the edge, I think I'll have little problem getting them) I'll start working on the text later. Thanks a lot again!

+ Can't read Xianghua's profile, but it seems Xiba is in fact Kilik's son. The profile for Kong Xiuqiang explains she gave birth to his child safely, but he inherited the evil aura from him too. Not having a way to purify it, she went to Edge Master for advice, and he introduced her to Kong, reuniting both father and daughter finally. Kong swore to protect his grandson, and believing in him Xianghua decided to entrust her son to him. Also, as a suggestion of her husband Wuxin (I suppose she was depressed over parting with his son), she pays both a visit once a year. The child is not named in the profile, but it's quite easy to see it's Xiba.

First I want to thank everyone who is helping with the pics and the translating of the guide and I do not want to sound rude but I did not understand one single thing.

Kilik is Xiba's father? And who is the mother? I'm quite lost here.

This is one of the charts in the book. Is this quality good enough?

Edit: Here's some other photos. I just took some random photos of random potentially interesting tidbits. I was gonna take more photos, but then my camera ran out of battery. I'll try to find the pages you're asking for later/tomorrow.

I'd just like to thank Tuzark_Melire and Sectus for what you guys are doing, it seems like there's a lot of cool info we western fans don't get a chance to hear about so I really appreciate that you guys are making efforts to help those of us who can't speak Japanese learn what's said in this guide.

That relationship chart looks fairly incomplete and small compared to the ones released in external material for previous games. It even seems to miss some details from other official information (like not pointing out Xiba and Kilik's relation), seems to have nothing for Talim, Zasalamel and Olcadan, and much less so for the minor SC4 characters (not even talking about the bonus ones, but the story mode-only characters who showed up there). I hope they eventually release one as complete as the one they released alongside Broken Destiny's launch.

There are a ton of other similar charts in other parts of the book. I dunno what they specifically are for, but they are each pretty different.

Well son, its about time you learned about the birds and the bees. You see, when a man loves a woman... and then... they sorta... you know. And then Xiba was born 9 months later.

What i'm saying is that Xiba burst forth from xianghua's fertile womb and acquired half his genetic makeup from kilik.

Xianghua must be pretty high ranking in the ancient china to have both a husband and a boyfriend.

Thanks everyone for the worsd of encouragement! I'm more than happy to help the community of one of the series I love. Next time I'll have Kilik's bio to share.

Sorry, I guess I didn't explained it clear. Xianghua gave birth to Kilik's child, and discovered that he was infected with the evil energy, as he inherited from Kilik. She asked Edgemaster for help, and he introduced Kong Xiuqiang to her, telling her to entrust the child to him. Trusting on the words of her father, she did so. Xiba is not mentioned by name, but since Kong is the one who raised and trained him, it's quite obvious he is the child in question.

Oh goody! The quality looks great, I think I can use these with zero problem. Thanks for the effort, very appreciated.

As Sectus said, there are others in the manual (I spotted parts of them in some of the scans in the first post), so I'm hoping they are like the ones in the first calibur (one big for the whole group, and a few for each country with more characters).

there are some references to solnhofen in Tira's "Note" o.o

Well, given that he's a member of the Bird of Passage as stated in the BD chart, it's no big surprise. The title of that note is "Tira's time in the Bird of Passage", that plus the picture, I wager it talks about her early years as assassin and her relation with him.

Tuzark, do you know if there's anywhere I could find a translation for the Broken Destiny relationship chart? It sounds like there's a lot of info in it, but I don't know of anywhere that has a translation for it. For example, I'm just now learning that Solnhofen was part of the Bird of Passage. Any help would be most appreciated. Also, eagerly anticipating Kilik's bio, should be interesting to see how much is explained.

As far a I know, there's no translation up there in the web. I started work on translating it, but had to stop mid-way through due to RL issues, and is still in my pending list to be completed. For now I'm devoted to stuff from 5 (as there's so much out there), but I'll eventually get back to it. If you have any specific interest, I can see if I covered that part already.

Ah, I'm mainly curious about the Solnhofen-esque characters who show up in story mode that are made up of create a character parts. Since most of them appear only in IV and don't have bios to speak of, I'm curious what/who those guys really are, and what kinds of connections they have to the other characters. I heard Azola was supposedly the one who sold Sophitia on the "protect Soul Edge for Pyrrha's sake" plan, though I thought other material had said Tira was the one who had done that. Anyway, I'm interested in that sort of stuff, but I understand why you'd wanna do the V-related stuff. And it's obviously totally your decision. But yeah, if you've translated any of the stuff about those characters I'd be interested in seeing what it says.

Ah, so X is Xiba's mother. I thought Leixia was their secret daughter instead (not that I have been reading too much into the character profiles)

Thanks for clearing that.

And now before you, Kilik!

"The light of the moon filters through one window. Kilik smiles as he caress the cheek of the sleeping Xianghua one more time, and leaves the pendant stone that's a keepsake of his elder sister. ━━It was a night 24 years ago, when the rain of evil poured into the Ling-Sheng Su, a martial arts temple. Turning insane from the evil energy, Kilik not only killed the students of the temple, but even the woman he loved as a sister, Xianglian. Afterwards, he went to study under the ancient immortal, Edge Master, in order to keep the evil energy under control.
Surrendering to his destiny, he has decided to interfere in the battle of the source of evil, Soul Edge, and the spirit sword Soul Calibur to find a way to stop them. It's a harsh path, one where he must abandon everyone. He lamented it for the young woman who loves him dearly, Xianghua. She had accepted Kilik and his terrible fate entirely, and embaced him wanting to be together no matter what......
"It's because you have accepted me, that I can live with my destiny"
Before dawn, Kilik was gone. To atone for his own crimes, he will protect the world of his beloved. ━━These were all events at the end of the 16th Century. "

How tragic love, these two have. It seems some form of Xianghua's ending in SC4 happened between them, given the description. I presume he attempted to leave her earlier and the whole scene kicked in (though with no soul swords present, obviously).

@STIATG: Most of them have very simple connections though, mostly confirming things that were alluded to in-game. Off the top of my head:
+ The five gals of Hilde are part of Wolfkrone's elite, and are extremelly loyal to her. Gerhilde is the head of the elite. The 3 malfested following Astaroth were part of it too, but got lost during a battle to the malfestation.
+ The Phantasm are spectral figures created by Cervantes from the souls he consumes. Valmiro is just related to him, and IIRC it was his second mate.
+ Raphael's three slaves are just that, his slaves. Marienbard has some knowledge of Soul Calibur's story, though.
+ Solnhofen is a former Bird of Passage member and Tira's superior.
+ The Skeletons are dead warriors serving Zasalamel as slaves. Revenant is the same guy from 3, if there's any doubt about that.
+ Ukon and Sakon are Yoshimitsu's men.
+ And just to include this, there's nothing about Zas' illusions (Frederick, Xianglian, Arcturus) or the Maxi Doppelganger.

Don't remember reading that about Azola, so it's likely I didn't got to her. Anyone I'm missing, I haven't translated their connections yet.
