I'll make you submit!
Hello, I will be organising the European Online Tournament, and this is the place to sign up. To make it fair, I will try to categorize you into games that will give you a better connection with your opponent.

As we cannot possibly get this number of people at once, the tournament will be held over a week's period, during which you will compete against other contestants and report the results back to me which I will then update the Table of Results.

I am not sure what the prize will be, although Jaxel has offered a 1 month Premium membership to the US Online Tournament so let's assume that will be the reward for now.

The rules will be the same as the US:

The rules are,
  1. No CAS and therefore...
  2. No Devil Jin
  3. Recolors of standard costumes are okay
  4. Standard 8wayrun rules regarding character lock and stage selection*
  5. Double elimination
  6. Matches are best of 3, Finals and Grand Finals best of 5
  7. Matches must be completed by the deadline. If you don't want to take the tournament seriously and follow this rule, please don't sign up.
  8. If you break rule 7, don't expect to be invited to the next tournament.
  9. If you can't get it done before the deadline, they you better have a darn good reason, and PM me and your opponent well in advance.
  10. If your opponent doesn't play by the rules in some way (i.e., they cover themselves in thunder god drums or something), upload the replay and I'll look at it.
  11. Tournament is for Europe only.

When the tournament begins, make sure you log into 8WR on 12th April to find out who your opponent is and compete against them ASAP. Then I would like both competitors to report the result in a PM to me to get an accurate result.

Unfortunately, if you do not complete your game properly (i.e. leaving or disconnecting) or miss your slot in the tournament you will be disqualified. So make sure you have some time to log onto 8WR.

Games will be given a maximum of 2 days to be completed and reported back, so make haste!

Good luck Europeans!

*Unfortunately, we had to remove XBL. Not enough signed up for it. Sorry.

Update #1, April 10th: Make sure to spread the word!

Makes sure you check back here often to see your next game!

I don't have an Xbox, so I'm not sure who to ask so if you or doc can get anyone else in for XBL that'd be great.

What do you think? I made a pretty rough logo thingy but it'll do lol.

A couple of questions:
1) Could you direct us via a link to "standard 8wr rules regarding character lock and stage selection" from rule 4?
2) I don't get the 5th rule. What is a double elimination?
Sorry, and thanks!

Double Elimination basically means there's more players in the tournament, so two opponents must lose so that two can advance forward. It looks like this:

And for the 8wayrun standard ruleset, I will insert the link into the first post.

Please be reminded that once you choose your first character of your first match, you must stick to this character throughout the rest of the tournament.

PSN: BlackRoseVale, GBR. I'm available pretty much most of the time.

So double elimination means playing how many matches? I know it's best of three but does that mean if I lose the first three games, we play another three? Sorry if I'm totally an idiot.

Double Elimination means if you lose a set of 3, you go to a different bracket (the losers bracket), and if you lose a set while in the losers bracket, you are eliminated- hence, Double Elimination.

As an aside, Swiss is the worst tournament format of all time, closely followed by round-robins over 16 people.
Double Elim when seeded properly is the standard for a reason... BUT... that said....

Swiss format might make online tournaments much more interesting due to the pairing options.

Edit: Just musing, don't mind me.

Please be reminded that once you choose your first character of your first match, you must stick to this character throughout the rest of the tournament.

The 8wayrun tournament ruleset talks about Winner Lock and nothing else, may I ask why should we stick with 1 character for the whole tournament?
