Edge Master Series Major 2014

Apologies for my shoutout in advance. I don't actually know how to do them properly and I barely got to talk/watch/play anyone apart from the Sunday. It was great event, didn't expect so many people to come otherwise I would've done it over 2 days to make the whole weekend more organised. Groups were great, since there were no guarantees on who went through.

@Age_of_Truth and @sotirislive thanks for the help on the day, literally wouldn't be possible for me to play and run the stream/tournament by myself. Also everyone who brought copies of the games.

@Wyde Thanks for supporting the scene as usual, and always travelling to London even for the small tournies. Well done on your performance, didn't realise how close it was until I looked at the results afterwards and didn't realised how crucial that match versus Panto was.

@TxA and @Phil O thanks for making the long trip over, hope you enjoyed it. Good to see new players being that good so early on, I'm sure you'll guys will get even better. Sorry didn't get to play casuals, didn't get to play any on the Saturday.

@Rakazuki thanks for the making the long trip too, and I hope it was worth it. It's shame you were so nervous during the tournament, as I know you play a lot better than that from playing you online. I used to get really nervous too but it gets better more you play.

@LYSArachnid glad you made it in the end. Sadly we didn't get to play after, hope to definitely see you at anything we do in the future.

@bushindu thanks for making the long trip down :) Unlucky on the tie break between me you and Synalon. P.S. I hate Ivy.

@Synalon still felt like I cheated you out of a place in the top 8, but then again you play Viola so I don't feel that bad :) Well done on doing so well at your first tourney without even playing the game. I know we'll see you again.

@Zanaken well done on making it to another tourney albeit late :) Hope you enjoyed your brief stay, and I hope you bring Chocolate Teddy next time, who I didn't even realise was there until after. I've tried to encourage him to come down before, so hope he will.

@HolyCarp well done yet another amazing performance. You and Wolf were definitely our strongest contenders for winning the tourney for the UK, shame it didn't pan out.

@Kalas Hope you enjoyed the tournament that was made just for you coming down :) Well done on 2nd for the team tourney, you've done Sweden proud.

@Pantocrator and @Kerrigan thanks for coming, I know the trip was expensive but I hope it was worth it. Such a shame we didn't get to play any casuals as I thought were would have time later on.

@Adam Ayonmike thanks for coming down. Really wanted to play you at a FT 5, congrats on a strong performance in the solo with a top NM.

@AndyrooxDS I knew if I kept teasing you would come and I know you enjoyed it. Well done on 3rd in your group which was probably the group of death. Also I refuse to ever learn the ZWEI MU... never ever.

@ZER0 Thanks for bringing all the equipment and a PS3. Too bad I couldn't setup the PVR to cap more games. Really strong NM too, I'm sure you'll get even better. About the controller thing, I don't think anyone, including yourself would find that funny during a tournament game. That set actually almost cost me a Top 8 place since it came down to aggregate score between me and Synalon, and I don't think you realised, but Kerrigan actually lost... so yeah it was a distraction.

@WolfLoneThe well done on second, and I'm glad you came even though I called you a noob which wasn't very friendly or inviting.

@GolD ShaD Thanks for coming down. Glad the strongest player won, even though I was still rooting for Wolf in the final :) Also congrats to both of us for winning the doubles with our Low Tier characters :)

@Mage I don't think this event could've happened without. Your belief and efforts in the UK scene are what made it possible, not only are you a shining example to other communities for SCV, but I think your attitude transcends our small game and can be recognised globally in World Politics. You are an inspiration to us all and we thank you. P.S. Quick Maths/Geography lesson: 21 is greater than 20, 16 & 13, and Holland, Germany & France are International countries :)

Special shout out to my boy @CaspianVII for claiming he's "one of the best in the UK", saying he could "shit all over" me and then never showing up.

GGs, Joel

damn the guilt-trips are real, I feel terrible now ;_; but dude...the controller thing didn't occur during the match...if it did, then that that was someone else...I was just messing about at the Character select screen.

Regardless you have my word I won't mess around during Tourney's...casuals however...I make no promises

I dunno I wasn't there, but @Kerrigan and @Synalon said that it happened during the match and they decided to restart the whole thing. Doing that sort of thing whether casual or tourney match is still annoying, so don't get why you would do it? Also on the subject I noticed a lot of new players were asking people questions (me included) while playing their tournament matches. It's just better to be more considerate in future.

Aw, no problem Joel! I try my best to do everything I can and I'm glad my hard work paid off. I hope other people like you can follow my example and do just as well next time!

I always thought 20 came after 21, thank fuck for you to put that right in my head :D And you mean to say that Holland, Germany and France are NOT part of the UK?! What evil is this??

then that definitely wasn't me...as far as I know I was mucking about at the character select screen...I wouldn't dare mess about with a tourney match...

Yeah it was definitely worth the trip, i enjoyed it even if i did get knocked out of the group stage lol playing with everyone was a good experience for me, just a shame the nerves got the better of me when the tournament started xD. GGs to everyone i fought! Hope for some more tournaments in the near future :).

When we turned up he was actually apprehensive about revealing his identity. Apparently he has gotten a little satly on chat with some of the people there xD

I explained the difference with online and meeting people face-to-face, all the crap-talk seems to melt away when you're having fun with people offline.

Well... Unless you're Zanaken, baby, then the crap-talk hits S tier (^_-)

First of all, thanks to @Silent_Joel, @Age_of_Truth and the HoG lads for organising this event, it really gave me a positive impression on the offline SC community!

SC5 is my first fighting game and I've only had it for 10 months but I fell in love with it straight away.

So it was my first SC tournament, woke up at 6 AM, threw up twice due to travel sickness but I persevered. I didn't put on much of a show during my tournament matches unfortunately, but the casuals after, once I had properly warmed up, was where I managed to do myself proud and snag a few wins against some really good players.

My Natsu bandage kept falling off which was a shame, I wanted to show it off to everyone!

@HolyCarp - you're a top lad, fantastic to meet you. Loved the t-shirt. We played quite a lot of matches and had some good banter. I didn't get to play everyone there but you were, in my opinion, the strongest player who I did manage to go up against! Hopefully I won the award for best cosplayer. ;)
@ZER0 - another person I was really looking forward to meeting, you were fun to fight against and I hope our FT5 on the stream gets uploaded so I have bragging rights over beating your Aeon 3-2! Your Nightmare is proper tough and I really hope you can get an Xbox (or I get a PS3), so we can play more.
@AndyrooxDS - my main man, I can't thank you enough for our games and for you taking the time to teach me how to JG correctly and helping me out with the Raphael MU. Brilliant stuff beating ShaD in the 2v2 with ZWEI vs. aPat, who needs tiers when you've got swag? ;)
@bushindu - first off I want to say what a decent guy you are, I have fond memories of our games and your helpful advice on the Viola MU, I appreciate everything you said.
@Zanaken - Noah you are one cheeky bugger, you're an amazing character and great to talk to, I really enjoyed being with you and playing you. I only wished I was on better form so I could silence your gob! ;)
@Kerrigan - I wasn't expecting to see another Natsu main but when I did was really looking forward to testing myself in some mirror matches. I think we went 50/50 so I was quite proud of myself for that. You're a really nice girl, thanks for the games. I think Natsu's 1P costume is hawt BTW. Keep up that PO B pressure! ;)
@Pantocrator - I recognised the name and it was nice putting a face to it. I only got to play you one set in the tournament and I was happy to get a round on you to make it 3-1. GGs and thanks for being a great sportsman!
@Wyde - you were a nice guy to meet and play against, very strong with Algol and Maxi. I was completely out of it when we were playing casuals in the morning, trust me I can play better than that! :P
@Phil O - I had a great time mate thanks so much for giving me a lift there and back! Sorry about leaving you with Francis the whole time, I felt a bit bad about it. I hope you enjoyed it and learnt from it, you have serious potential to become a great player. :)
@WolfLoneThe - wow, it is true what they say about you. I was so close to getting a round on you but even that was too much of a challenge! GGs mate, keep doing what you do best! :D
@GolD ShaD - congratulations on winning the tournament buddy you did a fantastic job with aPat. We never got to play unfortunately. I wanted to send you a friend request on Xbox but your list is full, maybe you could delete someone for me? Bien fait pour gagner mon ami! :)
@Kalas - I was disappointed I didn't get to play you but I did watch you play other people and it was very impressive I must say. Well done representing Germany! :)
@Silent_Joel - cheers mate for organising this fantastic event and giving me great first impressions of the offline Soul Cal community and scene. You were the one I first contacted when I decided to take the jump from casual player to competitive player and I want to thank you for helping me get to this level. Andy and I are great friends but that's only possible by the fact that I met him through you. You are doing an amazing job for SC and for the UK. I am really looking forward to playing you on XBL after losing 3-1 to you in our game on the stream. You were wearing a Cervantes t-shirt right? Where can I get a Natsu t-shirt? :D
@Age_of_Truth - it was brilliant meeting you and having the chance to play against you, you're a really nice guy and you do the UK proud whenever you represent us. I was shocked to beat you in the first game but you proved why you're considered one of the best players ever when you showed perfect composure and play in the following matches. :)

Anyone I missed out, sorry I didn't get to meet you but you're probably a cool person anyway just for being an SC player! ;)

It was a superb experience and I've come away from it looking forward to the next one. I came along to get the experience of being around top players and I feel proud of myself for managing to compete at that level and get a few well-earned victories.

Good Games and Well Played everyone!
-TxA, Total x Avenger (Joe (the Natsu guy in the black/white checkered shirt))

NB - Sorry this post is late!

can't have bragging rights if the FT5 wasn't completed lol... @Silent_Joel save yo ass Kappa

At some point I'm gonna borrow my bro's 360 and make an XBL account...just need a wired controller, get ready people!!!

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool sigged
Rofl, contextually I meant 'in the UK', not the whole world, but sure, make use of that if you like. Why? Because then I can say that I beat one of the best players in the world and that would be true. ;)

I watched the grand finals... Gold Shad looked so strong the first two games. But, LoneWolfThe did adapt, and looked like he would take the set. Oh well! Maybe next time. Congratulations, Shad. Also, good showing LoneWolfThe.
