    I learned in a classroom so I'm not really sure. I used this as reference all the time though: http://www.cplusplus.com/
    
    Any reason you want to pick up C++? If you aren't strong with pointers I'd say go with Java if your intent is to just make stuff.

    No, I actually want to learn serious programming, but I'm a beginner. I know the basics, variables, arrays, and that kind of stuff, but IDK any real language. A friend of mine recommended me java as well, but I've read C++ is good.

    Well, try Java I think. Java has its criticisms, but it's not really that bad anymore. Getting the Java development kit running on your system I think is a much smoother experience than getting C++ running into your chosen compiler then trying to import code.
