Raph has an RO game?

I hope if hes not got a godlike standing game they buff his oki wall and ro games....in sc4 those aspects of him were non existant
btw 4b is shakeable

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the vids Kirio4.

I love what he says during the side throw. "Know your... place !"

I'm quite underwhelmed by his AE, so far. Looks like a high risk/low reward move. Considering it gives the opponent a free launcher if it fails, I hope the frame advantage is good, because damage suck (big time)...

=)

SO LIKE, you figure someone would have said "hey man, read the directions you can break throws."

I just....... ugh. We need better teaching tools in this game. A required tutorial mission as part of the story mode that forces you to do NOTHING but throw break.

That would be useful, indeed. It took me a while to figure out how to escape throws, until I found a video tutorial on 8wayrun.
Perhaps a training mode like VF4Evo would do. It taught about everything you needed to know about the game, from combo to throw escapes (and they're hard in VF).

Black dog...the AE attack still causes back turn...and from what I see the frame advantage is good on hit. Hopefully it's still positive on block too. Ive kind of stopped fussing over whether they will give him back his old AEs or go with this one before the game is released. I'll just stick with SE, quickstep, and retreating moves to evade...and use his new moves effectively.

Well, back turned is still useful.
I don't demand Raph's old AE, just a fair reward for the risk involved with such a move. The rest of his movelist seems solid and well thought out, it would be sad if his AE was of limited use.
In fact, I'm pretty optimistic about Raph's chances this time. I even believe he will be a competitive character.

It better be mid mid and + on block. (which is the same as you blocking the move in the first place)

This idea has merit.

Wuht...I just took another look at the vid with the successful AE and after pausing it at the right moment...Im afraid its a High High again like in SC3. Darn it. Uh oh...

huh ? how can you tell ? And the whole mid mid thing was just saying that if they blocked the first hit the 2nd one better not be crouchable.

lol interesting observation.

Unfortuantely I'm watching 2B hitting a ground opponent on the floor, and it's clearly a mid but the hit-spark looks like its low!

are you saying raph has still his VE? :D i knew he had an aGI thing but aGI shouldn t be blockable >.> and you are talking of advantage on block...

and hopefully new ve will evade better than old VE .-.

Someone wrote raph kept also his delayed prep tracking ... not that it was so strong but i found it useful in few situations

I'm hoping A+K to evade horizontals, though.
But both A+K and B+K have a very small window to succeed and punishable when failed, making it somehow less useful.
It is understandable though, considering the game system now where GIs are not free anymore and Raph got a free reversal.

But let's see when the game finally comes out.

4A+B and 8A+B refers their ugly heads and say "have you forgotten about us?"

I never really got a hold of using mina's 4B+K aGI, but hopefully Raph's prep 214 aGI is as easy to use.

It aGI'd a body attack (which is a big plus) from ezio, and it may even TC (pipe dream!).

A retreating, aGI against mids that TCs would be absurd! The only thing balancing it is that at best you get like 20 damage from prep6AB (1/3 of 44B's NH damage). Darn shame!

the game is not out yet but every vid i see i am more convinced that raph is worse then ever.....low damage, bad mixups, his moveset is too damn high.... and he whiffs more than ever....

All damage he gets is from wrong reactions but i think preps will be terribad

At least SEaB (or whatever its called now) tracks right.....

even here 44AB is 20 dmg...

Yep, also Namco made some serious last-minute changes to some characters so no one knows yet how good Raph will be.

omg what did they do to my favorite character. he looks so stupid with that hat and clothes. wtf! give him back his soul calibur 3 look. im sick of them changing stuff and making it worse. i dont like all of this stuff they are doing like removing characters and chaning ppls looks. this is almost enough to make me not buy the game because why in the hell change him and make him look like a clown girl.. he looks stupidier than that girl with the circle!

I wouldn't really call them last minute changes, as the versions we see in videos are months old in real time.

And in all honesty, I can understand some conservative pessimism, but to go full-bore debbi-downer isn't right either.

1) You can still dress him up using the create-a-soul feature. Since you value costumes and outfits so much, you should be happy the CAS feature has been more robust.
2) Things change because they are a new game. This is not Soul calibur 3.1, so i'm laying that out there early because its going to be a shocker for you if you don't understand that.
3) If you're honestly not planning to purchase the game then you don't need to really post in this forum complaining about it.

That pretty much sums it up.
