Maxi General Q&A

Do you still need to guess your way out of damage after 6A on block and normal hit, and is it still easy to CH confirm into RO A?

Wouldn't need to worry about that, because RO B is troublesome to deal with, sidesteps has range, and does major damage if it lands on CH. Combine that with improved stance cancelling, 6AG is more viable now.

Don't be so hasty, leave the thread open for scribbling, as it is the most active. Some people won't get the game at launch....like me :p

Starting this week, I'll be going back into the lab with my "6A+B Punishment Thread" SCV version!

I never completed the entire roster in SCIV due to the large roster, and little time.

But the roster isn't as large this time around, so I should be able to complete everything this time. :)

You kidding? 6A is also the shiznit, everyone is absolutely right! Maxi has so many good moves now that I forgot 6A but yes it does need to be on the list. Seems like it has increased range and as soon as you see that red spark after you do it just tack on your free RO A,K for good damage and a knockdown. 6A is more viable in this game than it's ever been in ANY soul calibur.
 
I seemed to have ran into a bug due to my overall sloppy playing(still getting back in the habit)...

After a Left Side throw >BL. Going for BL, kBE...I sometime end up hitting(i guess) B+K. Causing Maxi to do his BT B+K in the other direction.

Odd.
 
I think we can add B+K to the list of moves that can clean hit. It will randomly land for 86 instead of 78 on NH.

Also, its seems like they the timing a little bit on B+K, its pissing me off. I think the non-JF version of B+K may be gone entirely

edit: And i just confirmed that JF B+K against a stunned opponent no longer gives BT B+K
 
4A on block is very good at all. BL A gets beat out by Maxi 4B. BL B without the follow up goes into LO at disadvantage. It create bit of spacing though, which might lead to some CH LO B's if the opponent doesn't know better. BL BB goes into LO as well and is disadvantage on block. No worries though. We don't need 4A for steppers, 6A is beastly

-A note on LI B. This move pretty much sucks now. It doesn't even give you enough advantage on block to interrupt follow-ups with LI A.

-LOLs on wall combos. 1B RO AK W! 1BAK W! A+Bg RC A(BE)B LI (BE) A is 180 Damage!!! And keep in mind that 6A and 1B gaurentee


And back to JF B+K, this move is pretty awesome now. They got rid of the pushout on hit and added a bit of a stun on hit so that you can always land the entire string. No more hitting them out of range of and having them block in the middle. Also, the move now stands the opponent up on hit, so I'm pretty sure the random ducking under the A (even though its mid) against ducking opponents is gone. B+K BBB is still not that punishable. Maxi's 6A cannot punish it, but Maxi's AA can. So its probably still -14. I think i will be using this move a lot.

So PSL1 is now called "Pure Seven" and PSL2 is now called "True Seven"

LOL I called it "True Force". I knew I would be half correct. :P

So....

With that said, do we create new notations to reflect this change, or do we as the old senile Maxi players that we are and just stick to PSL1 and PSL2?

Also, 2B+K is called "Right Seven Stars" and 8B+K is called "Left Seven Stars"
 
I say we leave the notation the same. It abreviates the same anyway. Or take the "L" out of it. Lets take a vote...LOL

What is the significance of the "Seven" I wonder?
 
LI B tracks for shit. Full charge is so readable can't use it.

I don't know if its just maxi but buffering seems smaller.

Oh and my brother is JGing the shit out of my 4BB by mashing, I thought after one attempt you couldn't try it again for a small window of frames. I know I can go other ways but still.

To me B+K timing has been fucked with. I used to bind another B to my stick and rap those while alternating A and I have always got it 80 % of the time but so far in this game I'm only 30%. Any tips guys?

For B+K BBBA, I would hit the B+K and mash out A+B....got it like 90% of the time. I was gonna try that when I get home from work.

So far the Maxi SA is the most active so far after launch. this makes me proud. All the combo listings and other info that has popped up today has made me be proud to be a maxi player again. I cant fuckin wait to get home to finally play this game!! Yall make me jealous!!

I was hoping for a solid BL shift, not the antistep of 4A. Bummer, they took the propeller out and now the move is basically useless, like it's always been. RO seems insane btw. Please check to see it RO K2A -> RCC A+B type combos, or even 33B for that matter. Bummer on the LI B. I guess it's WS B+K then. I think now that the game is sped up Maxi's AA is mostly around i12. 6A is around i14 usually so, good news all around. Is my beloved 33K still around?
 
Props@howiplaythisgame from the combo thread for his findings on the 2nd K in BL,K,(BE)K being able to wall splat with the right distance.

22_88KK_RO KK,(BE) 6A+B->LI,PSL2->BL,K,(BE)K, (W) A+B,4B,B~RC,A,(BE)B->LI(BE),A (14 hits)

All of that connects folks.

Disclaimer: You'll notice that there are 4BE's in that combo so it's a full 2 meter burn.
