It's also because it's red, black and gold, which is, like Fuzzie said, a stereotypical oriental color palette. These three colors have always worked very well together.

Yeah, I think it may have been the updated graphics that made it more noticeable.
I'm not too sure about the facial animations cut down because I do see the change of expression during intro and outro battle animations. However, if you're playing with Japanese voices, no one (main or CAS) has their lip sync to it (surprisingly since they did so for both language since SC2 except SC4's endings).
OH YES! I will remake them, mind if I change jade to a viola though considering the umbrella is no longer present
