SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

im having trouble connecting 3b after MCF , it hits but doesn't lunch
It doesn’t “lunch?” How appropriate from a user named HappieMealz! ;-)

Seriously though, it sounds as if you’re maybe not RCCing after IMCF. Are you sure you’re hitting with a true 3B or is it the animation for FC 3B (whatever that might be)?

Alternatively, how quickly after iMCF are you hitting the 3B? If they’ve already fallen down, they won’t launch. Again, probably an RCC issue.

hahaha the lunch wasn't a typo!! haha jk it was a long night! ha
but yeah soo! pretty much you iMCF tap 6/4 then 3b? ill work on that then thanks
like i got the imcf down 9/10 times then i cant launch gets so frustrating haha

Here's two hidden moves I found out:

There's a hint of SCIV in Yoshimitsu's IND Teleport (IND 2a+b).
I don't know if you guys remember in SCIV that if you hold 2 and press A+B, he will end up Backwards.

They removed this in SCV and even if you hold 2 and press A+B, he will always face forward in front of the opponent.

Here's the kicker:
If you tap 8 (little IND slide) and then immediately do 2A+B, he will teleport but backwards this time.

I believe this happens because that slight move causes the system to be confused which direction the opponent is facing causing the SCIV teleport.

Trying to incorporate this from people who expect IND mix-ups.
I do BT a+b~k to bt A+B,K. The somersault is safe and leaves you in good advantage.

Another hidden move.

If you do 6a hold, the 6a to throw will not connect.
It will damage the opponent 29 dmg of points.
But with proper spacing, if you do 6A at proper or true distance, you get a full 60? pts of damage.
You don't need CH for this to work.

Anyways, Congrats to Lolo for representing Yoshimitsu very well in Final Round.
We both agree that Yoshimitsu is upper mid to Top-Tier because of his damage, options, ce and hell of a mix-up.
The game is still relatively new so no one should feel bad if you lose using Yoshimitsu.

Good shit to watch lolo playing this weekend. It inspired me to get right back in the lab.

It broke my heart seeing him lose to wing zero - Yoshi shouldn't lose to that character at all. 4B+K beats all 6A and 6B followups for a free launch. I tried to have someone run up and tell him but it was too late. Good shit though, Lolo!

I've been thinking about it too since Intimidation and Preperation were a chunk of my game in SCIV and they were unjustly removed from SCV, there was absolutely no reason to remove these stances at all(Also Mitsurugi's Relic Stance too), Namco is getting lazy. :(

Those things are minor to his truly competitive play.

Biggest nerfs are:

-MCF reduced speed
-a:B+K changes
-6A replaced
-loss of 44 A+B

He is still more than capable.

I didn't really use any of the moves you mentioned above except for ear slicer here and there. lol.

Been playing Natsu this entire time, was feeling a little empty inside only being good at one character, so I started practicing the hell out of Yoshimitsu today. Dear god, the just frames this man has are so tedious. But I got the biggest amount of joy from doing 4 iMCF in a row after an hour of button sliding! Only done ear slicer a couple times though.. just one question, does anyone know of a video demonstrating the just frame version of 4AAAA and 1KKKK? I assume the timing are the same for both. Forgive me if I missed it if someone already said where.

I have a soundcloud for the audible timing of it.

Thanks and I know, that match is in Yoshi's favor, and I know the match up really well, is just that I froze up in the third match, but well, that's tournaments.

Not using some of his best moves doesn't mean I didn't enjoy using Yoshi... I just never had the disposition to train 4A:A:A:A:A, a:B+K, iMCF or the like. I relied a lot on mixup and unpredictability.

ear slicer was a staple of his better and more damaging combos... I've gotten where I can do it about 70% of the time in training now, but still doesn't come out alot in matches.

a:B+K's range is so poor now. Other than adding the bit of extra damage if you can land it on CH it's not that great. It's like -6 on hit so even landing one non CH puts you in a bad state unless psychologically your opponent assume you have advantage. It got really raped but I might land one on CH every couple of rounds compared to MCF which I land on CH all the time so I don't depend on it.

Lolo gets top 8 and then the Yoshi forum falls dormant? How's everyone doing with him lately? Don't tell me ya'll gave up on him. It was nice meeting you really briefly at FR lolo! Sad we couldn't get some Yoshi mirrors in but maybe we'll run into eachother again soon.

I stole a bunch of technology from Final Round. Basically - Yoshi gets 45% life tech traps after 3B. Thats FINE by me.
