My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

I am going to catch this episode ASAP on YouTube.

What are you guys think about the amount of butthurtness that many are having to the image of Twilight with pegasus wings going around online?

I really liked this past weekend's episode. I have to DVR it (I was at work during the airing). :(
I doubt the would be damaged if Twilight upgraded in her appearance and power level.

So who saw the season 3 finale? What are your thoughts? I do agree it was kind of rushed especially since it was told mainly through song, but I wasn't too bothered by it. Still liked it overall. Too many songs but each of them were pretty good. As for the Alicorn transformation, it still gave me chills, and even though most people think they should have saved that for the end of the series, I think it'll bring more challenges for Twilight Sparkle having to be a princess. I can already see episodes where it may get to her head and she needs her friends to bring her back down to reality. Who knows? Only season 4 (which is apparently 6 months fro now) can tell. Hopefully the season intro episode is a two parter and would expand a little on the events of the season 3 finale as to make up for the rushed feel for it.

I saw it! It was great and touching in many parts of the episode. But at the same time I felt it was kind of rushed. They should have done it as a two parter instead of one episode. I don't think Twi is going to change. Neither is her friendship with the girls or anyone else. I would like to see more of the secondary characters, background characters, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadance, Shining Armor, some of the other previous villains from seasons 1 and 2. Seeing something of a "world tour" as we get to see more ponies and other critters around the world. We do know there are ponies in Saddle Arabia.

So I just started watching this show to see what all the talk was about, and the results are in...
I love it!
Whoo!

What is your favorite character is the series and why?
What is your favorite song within the series?

Welcome Brony.

I am in with you both. I too felt the season was too short and the finale was rushed. It should not have been a half an hour episode but an hour long episode. I would love to see that as well the MC's, SC's, BC's, etc. There are so many questions about many characters within the series I have. Too many unknowns. I did cry during many parts of the episode. ;)

Proto-Bronies, Proto-Pegaisters, current Bronies and Pegaisters I have some questions for you.

Topic 1: The new Dr. Whooves and Fluttershy vinyl figures in Hot Topic

Are any of you experiencing any delays with that?

I am hearing from many fans online about delays, wondering if it is happening to any of you as well.

Topic 2: SC5 MLP CAS

Have any of you considered or wanted to try making MLP characters using the SC5 CAS?

I have thought about the idea of it a little bit there and here.

Topic 3: Lauren Faust teams up with Mane6

I just heard about this piece of good news on the Mane6 site. I thought I'd share it with you on here as well.

Welcome Brony.

Thanks!

My favourite "mane" character (get it? mane, main?...) is Rarity. I think it's so funny how she manages to be so lady-like at any given situation (like when she was ponynapped by the dogs lol) and her voice work is just incredible. My favourite side character is Angel - he is just so cute and his expressions are just hilarious lol.

Pictured above: angel is not impressed

My favourite song (so far) was from May The Best Win (awesome ep. btw!). It felt like an old-school-super-catchy Disney track because it intertwined rhymed talking with singing portions (like in Part of Your World), and I felt like a kid again. Gotta love nostalgia! =D.
EDIT: New favourite. I couldn't stop smiling after watching this. OMG. This just brightened up my week. xD

Yours?

Another great thing about Rarity is that her kind of character would usually be a villain in any other show. I love how she's like a redeemable snob who has her moments of loyalty, goofiness and downright generosity. Seriously, for some reason being a prim and proper lady became something to look down upon as to root for the awkward girl. Possibly in vain attempt of a faux girl power kind of way that makes you think it's progressive to over hype the tomboys and nerdy girls.

So I love how all types of girls are embraced in this show all thanks, I think, to the addition of Rarity.

That's what I said when I first watched it. Then I left it alone for a while, but something draw me into it fully. I hope I can turn my friend onto it. I showed him the Sonic Rainboom episode and he thought it was a decent show, and as much as he denies it...it's only a matter of time he ends up loving it too!

Ok so I actually had a genuine question about this "Brony culture" or what have you.

It's probably been answered already but I read the first four pages of the thread and realllllly didn't feel like forcing myself through another 7 pages of it.

Anyhow, here's the thing: I've never seen the show, but I've actually heard decent things.

I'm willing to bet if I were to see an episode I'd probably think, "Oh. That's a cute/funny little cartoon".

What I don't get at *all* is the self identification aspect of it. What is it about the show that resonates so much within adult males that they feel the *need* to use it to self-identify?

I watch Adventure Time now and then and I really enjoy it. I don't identify myself as a Dudeventurer.

I am a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of the Venture Bros (though admittedly that's obviously targeted at adults) but I don't identify myself as a part of Team Venture. Or....huh, I guess Dudeventurer would work for that one too...but anyway that's not the point.

It would seem to me that the reason people find Bronies so creepy is, pony porn aside (never thought I'd have to say those words in that order) where is this *passion* coming from? What about that show makes grown ass men refer to themselves as the animated pony equivalent of a Belieber? I just do not get the self-identification aspect of the culture.

MLP uses the theme of universality (which the best cartoons since Avatar have got), and just apply the skin of the toy brand meant for girls. The clear contrast makes it more compelling to watch for Bronies. Think "emo with the mind of Eckhart Tolle", for example.

The cartoon also lacks cynicism. I'm sure Bronies also watch anime, of which the most popular have a shitload. As such, along with the moral lessons about friendship the ponies learn at the end...

I think it has a lot to do with being surprised as to how good it is. If we didn't live in a society that ostracized men for what they should be, I think MLP will just be yet another cartoon that was just good. I dunno it's hard to say. To me being a Brony is like the new gay. It's like coming out of the stable or something as opposed to closet. I think labels are inhibitting so I don't classify my self as a brony. Admittedly though there was a time where all I could all day was rewatch favourite moments.

I really don't know what else to tell you but it's a matter of pride thing. Like YES I LOVE THIS SHOW AND I OUGHTA CALL MY SELF SOME KIND OF IDENTIFYING NAME BECAUSE!!! well because I know will get scrutinized for doing so and it will only reinforce my identity as a fan of the show, so it might as well have a name to it

lol also never thought I'd see those two names put together Emo and Eckhart Tolle. I dont get what you mean by that comparison though

Haha, me neither.

I'm basing on a contrast principle - we are more willing to explore something/one which has what is perceived to be two opposing characteristics.

A Crip who studies mathematics at UCLA.

An emo with the mind of Eckhart Tolle.

A girls' cartoon show with themes that are universal.

Hope you get the idea.

I recently got back into the game, and have found great fun in recreating the cast in the game. Anyone have some MLP Create a Souls they wanna share?
