What the heck happened to Ranked?

Bad servers and matchmaking really it's to be expected though your trying to find a match blind (quick match) instead of having ranked rooms, it would probably get more people to play the mode if it had them.

That was one of the biggest crippling aspects of SC5's ranked match finding system in contrast to SC4's. In SC4 you could do a custom search and it would show you the list of lobbies available, so you could get a general idea of how many people were online in ranked. Like who created session, or how fast these sessions are getting filled up with other people looking for matches.

Now with SC5's "anonymous" ranked match making, it's impossible. Because you never know if there are like 30 other people looking for ranked matches, but the server is just crap and nobody can get paired against each other. Or realistically if there isn't anyone searching at all, you'd never know anyways.

I was afraid SC5 was going to go the way of this new genre of "anonymous" matchmaking. I mean I don't care if there will be ranked squatters who only target noobs. But at least let the rest of the human population join whoever's game. Like Naruto Ninja Storm game's ranked match finding system, it work's a lot like SC4's, and it's always easy to find matches within seconds.

I think many would rather have a choice of who to fight, and they can analyze other players BEFORE a match, so you can learn what to expect from them (I.e. characters, skill, etc.), rather than just learning how the opponent fights on the spot in ranked.

Agreed, more often than not people will always try to go for the easier opponents to get easier wins. But sometimes people will see a Level 300+ and figure "Hey, let's do this!" and try to play them. With the small exceptions to players like G0d1ess and other bitter players when defeated, they'll constantly search for your ranked lobby and continuously join if you choose not to fight them.

Other than that I loved it, it was sort of like fishing, but if nobody joined your lobby you could always search up and find 8 people ready and willing to play ranked. Now with the SC5 / Tekken style matchmaking you tend to get paired up against the same 2 bar connected man from Hong Kong a couple times before it gives you someone with decent 5 bars.

I go straight to Global Colosseo because ranked usually takes forever :/ There are some pretty decent people who are regulars in the NY lobby
