Soulcalibur Lost Swords Beta Test Announced...

  • Admin
Namco-Bandai recently announced an upcoming domestic beta test for Soulcalibur Lost Swords; which is scheduled to be released sometime by the end of the year. In case you forgot, Lost Swords is a single-player only fighting game; so chances are you may not be interested in this little title. However, the game will be free on PSN when it launches soon.

The beta test will be available between November 14 to 18. In the beta test, players will be able to test out a small portion of "Quest Mode" with Sophitia, Siegfried and Mitsurugi. In addition, players will have access to character creation and the shop. In order to try out the beta, you will simply need to download the 4gb trial when it becomes available on the Playstation Network. More information after the break [...]

UPDATE: Namco-Bandai has informed us that this "domestic" beta test is for Japan only. A Japanese PSN account will be required to download the beta. There are no plans to bring the beta test to other territories.

Lost Swords brings back some old features from the Soulcalibur series, as well as introduces a few new ones. LS re-introduces the armor break system from SC4 where you could destroy pieces of your opponent's clothes; although this time you must do a "Soul Break" move under certain conditions. Destroying your opponent's armor will drop treasure items. It also brings back a slightly altered version of SC4's Tower of Lost Souls Tag system.

To be honest, to use a slot for Devil Jin instead of a real SC character... Give me a break.

Sophitia reminds me of Soul Edge, most attacks are connections, I really like her 44K after hits a launched opponent opens for TASB.
Overall is pretty flashy and casual oriented, it is somewhat nice, I think it would make it sell.

While Sophie's moveset is in all over the place, I wouldn't mind if they slapped in Elysium and all.

Also @Lang Cassandra's 1P S and S are alternatives for Sophie herself.

Maybe he might be in SC6 as actual character and not just a CaS template.

setsuka / alpha patroklos plz T_T
Probably not because in Lost Swords high execution doesn't matter.

I'm thinking X might be in their because all strings in LS are NCs meaning: AABB, 3AK, bKB, bKbB, kBB from SCII are guaranteed on NH.

kB will probably be a stun ~ 22_88B.

aBKKAAAABA+B from SCIV Critical Finish would all be legit.
Combo breakdown aB faint ~ 4K ~ 2A+K ~ 44AA ~ AABB ~ A+B (Super)

Then worst, to put in a canon SC a character of Tekken instead of a real SC character... (already happened in SC5, I know, even if it was CaS, I don´t count SC2 because it was guest character).

Of course is my opinion, I just don´t feel good about it.

Yeeeah, I did say that I would be willing to give this game a chance.
But unless the full game is immensely different from the beta, I'll have to pass.

I doubt Devil Jin will become a character in SC6. You can take Lost Swords seriously, is a free to play, non-canon, and from the look of it, it don't even have a story mode.

Another question,

Does this game has Just Guard? Hope they still go with it, I love them.

Tough if this game is indeed kinda for casuals, then I guess they removed it.
