Breaking Grabs SCV

Hello community! I have been playing SC5 for almost two years now. And I've been wanting to work on my grab breaking to improve myself. But I had a few questions first.

I play on PS3, Pad. Some players told me the best way for breaking grabs is mashing A and B. I got that and get the idea. For me my reaction time is somewhat slow but Im sure with some practice I could get it down.

Anyway! I had a question about triggers such as B+K, A+B. I know the triggers will break grabs or whatever is set to A+B. But if something is set to A+B, will it break both grabs? Or just A grab? Someone told me its whatever is in front first, A or B depends. But I wasnt too sure about that and I wanted to ask you guys who maybe knew.

Other than that, I just wanted to hear how some people break their grabs, what they use, how they do it so I can try some of these things. I know Im making it sound hard but Im trying to find a way that's good for me.

Soooo suggestions and tips and help would be lovely! Thank you!
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, move it if it is. =)

I've moved it for you.

Also in the case of A+B and B+K breaking grabs, I do believe that it is the first letter that comes first that will affect grab breaking. So A+B will break only A grabs and B+K will only break B grabs. This is actually logical because if A+B could break both then people would just mash and break any grab with A+B if it were to affect both grabs.

Thank you for moving it. :)

Yeah I kinda figured, but I wanted to be sure. If A+B could break both it would be way too easy. But was just checking!

I break grabs on reaction and its always A because my fingers are faster than brain and they always go for A. I have awkwardly fell on Pyrrha a lot because of this.

You can mash A or B while guarding and still guard. If you can get used to it, unlike me, you can break 50% of grabs eh?
Also, remember that certain characters prefer certain grabs... ZWEI loves his A+G grab for example, and the classic Raph B+G near an edge/wall... knowing that can give you an edge, but I suppose an opponent can play on that just as well.

Meh. Myself, I just duck if I expect a grab... and get killed. In fact, I usually stand back up into it.

I have noticed that many opponents step forward before they grab just to make sure they are within range. I have gotten in the habit of using AA or BB when they get too close (I use Pyrrha Omega btw so it's generally safe) and even if I don't hit them on counter damage most of the time I end up breaking their grabs.

On that note beware of Nightmare his grab range is absurd.

People generally spam the "B" throw because it is generally more accessible and offers slightly more damage. In the case of reading what throw it is, pay attention to the stage and the opponent you are playing.

In other words, if you know the command for a throw that will RING OUT and you are close to the edge, pay attention to the command, duck/escape and punish if possible. If your too pressured to break grabs, try working on spacing to keep him/her out of bay.

It seems to me that after enough play and trouble from throws everyone gets the knack of breaking on reaction.

Still, it is a really good habit to choose A or B before hand and then tap that anytime you guard. If your controller setup makes that awkward you can tap binds with the same result. You'll be safer from surprise throws and making mental and execution errors while defending.
