Personally, I find the heide lance one of the better spears since it has a very powerful multi-hit charge attack with a powerful stun. Syan halberd isn't too bad either. Arch drake mace has huge poise damage - the best I've seen - wielding it is a pain in the rear, though.

Well Heide Lance is a lance believe it or not...

I filled my last character slot today with a character who I intended to use dual axes.
In the end, he's dual wielding Red Rust Sword, a "straight sword" with attacks from axe and greatsword, with Gyrm Axe, an "axe" with the greataxe moveset, and probably the best greataxe overall. I don't know how that happened, but he certainly does a lot of damage at the moment.
I'd give him that shield crossbow to add to the odd weapons theme if Avelyn wasn't the only usable crossbow... :/

But I don't want to cheat it like that. Maybe I'll just wait until they make changes to the covenants. I think 100 kills would be more than fair. Also on the point of you losing progress towards your covenant rank when losing, I found out yesterday about that and felt even more hopeless. I don't need to have anything negatively effect my already astronomical goal of 500 kills, which by the way I found invasions and duels do not stack together. The only kills that matter in the BoB are duel kills iirc, which kind of ruins the whole aspect of random invasions. If I want duel I'll put my red soapstone down or pick one up. It's cool that they have the dueling areas for each covenant but to have that central to ranking up? eh... But yeah... not sure if losses in the Blue Sentinel covenant count negative to your total btw... xD

You can also sprint ladders pushing circle XD You discover weird basic things when you already have the game half finished. I just discovered powerstance-

What armor are you wearing here, btw? Looks pretty cool.

BTW I killed Vendrick and got his sword. It actually looks really nice compared to other GSs. I have no idea what to do next, I just finished the dragon shrine and got the ashen mist.

It's the Throne Defender armor. I forget hat the Headpiece was called but it dropped from the giant basilisk in the cage before you fight the Guardian Dragon.

Lol I knew you could sprint up ladders, but I've beaten the game a few times now and just realized you could use items on the ladder looooool

I think it's called Dragon Sage helmet or Dragon Acolyte helmet or something like that.
 
They really need to do something about invading.
I never get invaded by black phantoms. I get a constant, constant stream of blues if I'm a sinner, but in over 10 days of total actual play time I've been invaded no more than 10 times by a red.

I'd say it's because the way you actually get red orbs is more balanced and much more convenient than actually invading anyone, the orbs always fail resulting in you warping around the world to find the one spot where people are around your soul memory, and you get basically no reward either way, so why would anyone ever bother to invade? The only time I've bothered to invade as a red besides trying to join the covenant was a few goes in Shrine of Amana because I felt like getting some hatemail.
As someone who's every character bar 2 is in that-there blood covenant, why am I selling my red orbs to Gavlan, while my sentinel guy is desperate for more blue orbs?

I feel Token of Spite should be a healing item for red phantoms, or something you could throw at enemies to gravelord them... actually, you should just get Lloyd's Talismans as a reward... anything would be better than what Token of Spite currently does (and yes, I know that sounds contradictory, but it'd be nice to be invaded by surprise for once rather than me basically having to ask for it).

he's actually not too tough, it's mostly the way there that's pretty rough. just bait his flame breath and attack his feet. when he tilts his head a bit that means he's about to fly up and do that ridiculous AoE flame breath, so just run like hell as fast as you can away from him. i was actually watching lobosJr kill him with the ladle and learned a bunch about hi attack pattern. here's the crazy ass video:

Oh I know he's not that bad. It's just there's nothing I want that I will obtain by defeating him so... I'm just not going to bother xD

i did it for the 5th giant soul lol, trying to kill vendrick without it takes more time than i have patience for lol.
 
Gyrm Greatshield +10 is your best friend. It'll block both hits of his retarded AoE. The second hit will drain all your stamina though.
