Teh @Gatsu was right all along. Well, I'd say we all saw this coming from a mile away, but still... RIP in peace.

Whoever buys Capcom insta-wins this gen. Not sure on whom to put my money yet, but given recent developments, I think Nintendo buying Capcom would be the shit. A single console with a library ranging from Zelda to Bayonetta to Megaman to Star Fox to Street fighter to Mario, all exclusives, would fucking dominate the industry. But TBH all I hope is that it doesn't go the way of Rare after a Microsoft acquisition.

Im hoping nintendo buys capcom. Perhaps the RE series will be restored to its former glory? (Resident evil remake was awesome on the gamecube)

NOT Microsoft. Fuck them for what they did to Rare.

I'm wary of a Nintendo buyout, because I don't want them treating Capcom IPs like Nintendo IPs. What I mean by that is that Nintendo usually makes sure their IPs are appropriate for all audiences. In rougher terms, Nintendo IPs often look like they're for children, even though enjoyment of most of their titles is often independent of age (see: Nintendo Hard). Capcom IPs generally aren't concerned with looking as PG-rated as Nintendo's, so putting that kind of restriction on them could be tantamount to fundamentally changing the character of their franchises. If there's anything that says my concerns are unfounded, it's probably that they're allowing the devs of the Bayonetta franchise creative freedom, so I'd hope they'd extend the same courtesy to a company they would officially take under their wing.

I don't foresee any problems with a Sony, Square Enix, or Konami buyout, though I don't think Sony is in any shape to buy another company (same with Nintendo and Microsoft/Xbox).

I'm not sure that'd be much a concern, as you mentioned they're not interfering with Bayonetta, nor did they try and change Resident Evil. I'd hope they're smart enough to let these iconic series' continue as they are, otherwise it'd be corporate suicide.

I wish I was filthy rich and could buy Capcom. I'd be like "Greetings everyone, I am Nyte and from this day forward I am your new overlord!".

Yeah also shame on what happened to the once great gaming company "Rareware" which eventually became no more when microsoft brought them :/ rareware had really fun and interesting games such as diddy kong racing, banjo kazooie and banjo tooie ( my fav n64 games) perfect dark, concurs bad fur day.

I must admit the idea of a Microsoft buyout does sound good for only one reason: Street Fighter X Killer Instinct.

If you read the article, the shareholders voted down a share buyback plan. They did say however that they preferred other means to prevent a buyout which would imply that the shareholders are not in fact putting the company up for sale.

Honestly, Capcom can survive on its own without the takeover defense. Management needs to stop thinking that the Company is little more than a typical salaried business and more like a development studio. Major projects like Deep Down May be graphicAlly impressive, but smaller titles like Monster Hunter is what brings in the bacon. This is not to say they can't develop big projects like this, but funding them with little intent to advertise (see Dragons Dogma), is just asking for a flop.

If "must" be one of the big 3, Sony shold be the best candidate, but i will hate that

Sony is still a Forrest Gump but without his nice personality. They're still "slow", hypocrite, lost in that cinematic bullshit. They claim to be close to the player's heart, when on reality they show many times to don't get what it take to cover that role.
Theyr last incarnation as the face of gaming is back to PS2 times, and most of dat dominance was thanks to third party stuff
I think about Playstation All Stars (or whatever that SSBB wannabe was called) cast cringe worthy over 9000 level, or them wasting $$$ to make that horrible Knack thing... or them just announced we will see more Knack
For Christ holy sake Sony, burn that thing, shit over it and pray every night everybody forget.
Ok Bloodborne, but that was hard to miss with everybody on teh internet talk about how awesome and "exclusive" gamer's God DS is
As long you go a lil deeper than that they just can't get it, for them if you are'nt a mainstream douchebag only-other-possible-option is that you must be some edgy hipster with awkward trendy glasses and mandatory woman bag, so solution is just open the doors to a shitstorm of indies and call it a day.
Fuck you Sony, fuck you :(

Nintendo no, even if i like them. The perfect spirit is there, everything else no
To put it simple Capcom under N will probably have a good free pass on creativity side, but N ceiling is low
I've seen already seen Caplol lost so many chances to be great again... they can keep punch themselves in they own balls without need handicaps like N machine/audience/marketing/politic/tradition to help them

MS, lol fuck MS
Inferior machine(new gen), inferior sales (specially outside 'murrica), dudebro audience that don't seem to give shit about jap stuff, Rare precedent, being MS. Also a Caplol under them will go full caplol and feel pushed ever more with dat retard western wannabe bullshit.
You have to be xbox die hard fanboy or straight retard to wishsomething like that
I can see Caplol doing 999 creative moves to dive deeper into shit, but seriously
not-like-this.gif

Best option should be none of the 3, just a big colossus full of $$$ that allow them to be themselves for the good things but slap them every time they give signs of that new-caplol retardness.

Said that none will "buy Capcom" probably, i can see way more easy Capcom sell single IPs... wich in theory can even be a good thing

Best scenario for us back-when-was-cool-Capcom fans imho is ps4 (because sony is still considered the japan-friendly of the big 2) sell fuckton of consoles increasing quickly that audience size, and japs developers speed the fuck up the gen transition jump to make ps4 get as soon as possible whatever level of jap-audience a big console can get today.
With this i don't mean console exclusivity, just give them a solid ground where to land, it will help them get over that shortpenis complex they had for the entire last gen... even if sadly i don't see that happen soon
The other way will be the above said + Sony waste less $ in shit, learn from the DS precedent and start moneyhat some quality Capcom pure style title/titles.
Or maybe not even moneyhat production, since sometimes jap developers seem already inclined to go only-sony, give them a MASSIVE help at promote theyr stuff, if you don't count awkward E3s Sony is nice at marketing, specially these days and specially compared to "waaa baka gaijin don't like muh shit" usual jap sh attitude
But again #4tehplayers ironically seem a bit too busy blowjob mainstream market and spread good-guys PR stuff with indies to give fucks about true players
Maybe 1 or 2 (or 3 to be realistic) years in future, surely not now that are in full dick hugging political campaign and are waaay more inclined in steal dudebros from MS instead try to get some N/exSony jap-loving population

And anyway as long theyr idea of try that colourful-less-gritty target is stuff like the fucking Knack, LBP or Puppeteer(wich was kinda nice but camon) if Sony try or not is the same

Capcom should try believe their IP if well done can do good on a big console, without need to go full submissive bitch trying to please what they think our western dick want.
They need to understand that nobody goes to a sushi restaurant to eat hamburgers

Sony need (don't need actually) to understand that there is a whole generation of gamers that will love to pay good money$ to see quality old school japan come back.
Surely not many $$$ as AsscreedCOD audience, but still a good amount of $
Still better than bet on all the cringeworthy Knacks of this fucking world

A Microsoft buyout would be perfect for me because I've always been loyal to the Xbox brand. Just imagine:

- Resident Evil 7 exclusive to Xbox One
- Dino Crisis reboot exclusive to Xbox One
- Dead Rising 4 exclusive to Xbox One
- Dragons Dogma II exclusive to Xbox One
- Mega Man revived on XBLA
- Street Fighter X Killer Instinct

All with unlimited funding from Microsoft.

To those who say the Xbox One is an inferior machine, cloud gives X1 power that the PS4 doesn't have. Crackdown 3 will feature real time destruction of all buildings on a level that can't be done anywhere else all in a large scale multiplayer open world.

It's not just marketing hype, this is a tech demo of Cloud from a couple of months ago:
