Maxi already has that exact move in neutral guard though. What's the meter burn accomplish? Extending a weak aGI to catch lows? Heaven's guard exists to encourage stance use. If sc blows him back, he has less reason to use stances.

If Maxi chooses to attack after whiffing a heaven's guard, his options are kinda weak. GHA isn't scary at all without the LH. HGK can be nice but it's kinda slow. HG B+K is definitely too slow to deal with a delayed attack. HG B kinda sucks.

I think the most important addition was giving Maxi a break attack out of Neutral Guard (B+K in stance) Before people could simply reGI to stuff every option out of the stance unless Maxi had a full bar. That strengthened his NG game a lot. Maxi's gotten recent buffs to his 7 Star Rebirth buff...

Nah. He might be a time travelling echo from Astral Chaos since he was attached to it via handling Soul Edge. May not have a memory due to being a echo. (This time travelling stuff can be used to cram anything into any theory)

Why are people putting Maxi at S?

Generally I only pay attention to the next two options. Go longer than that, and you typically get wrecked.

Tends to work better if you let the bounce reach its max apex. If you hit them other points in the bound, it gets harder to predict.

I still don't like using the basic CE. It pushes Maxi across the screen giving up his ring positioning and oki and pressure entirely. It also freezes your opponent's SC gauge when they've popped it. A CE cancel knocks down the SC gauge and delays them while they're stuck in the juggle mostly...

I think Tamonegi's a good model.
