Okay! Here we go. This is the signup thread for the next 8wayrun official online tournament.

First of all, the winners of last month's were Xeph on the PSN side, and Enkindu on XBL.

Now for next month. Please read this entire post as things are a little different this time.

Due to the huge response, there are 32 slots open for XBL and PSN. If you post in the thread, and you don’t see me add your name within a day or so, and especially if you see people who posted after you getting added, bug the hell out of me via pm because I obviously overlooked you. Also if I got your name wrong or put you in the wrong bracket or whatever new thing I screwed up on.

We’re going to give one more go to the standard double elimination tourney because due to some issues with Machinima not getting Fahros the support he needed in time to stream this one, we’re hoping that it will be all ironed out by the time this tourney’s finals roll around.

We are also running a Swiss tournament alongside these double elimination ones. Just indicate in your post whether you’d like to participate in the double-elim or Swiss tournament. There is no limit to the number of Swiss tournament entrants, so even if you see the bracket filled up, we can always fit another.

Okay, so last month was my first shot at organizing a tournament, and I’ve learned a few things from it, so I think this month will be much smoother. We’re going to be running a tight ship this time around.

The deadline dates for each round are as follows:

Signups end: Friday, May 18th
Winners round 1: Wednesday, May 23rd
Winners round 2/Losers round 1: Tuesday, May 29th
Winners round 3/Losers round 2: Monday, June 4th
Winners round 4/Losers round 3: Saturday, June 9th
Losers round 4: Wednesday, June 13th
Losers round 5: Tuesday, June 19th
Finals on stream: Saturday, June 23rd (Tentative, depending on participants' availability).

If anyone steals my coconuts doesn't have their match done by the deadline, I SWEAR I WILL SAIL 3,000 MILES IN AN OPEN BOAT TO SEE THAT HE SWINGS FROM THE HIGHEST YARDARM IN THE... No, he'll just be disqualified, no questions asked this time.

He will also be flogged mercilessly.​

Just like before, here are the rules:

1. No CAS and therefore...​
2. No Devil Jin​
3. Dampierre is allowed​
4. Recolors of standard costumes are okay​
5. Standard 8WR tournament rules regarding character lock and stage selection​
6. Double elimination and Swiss​
7. NEW: All matches are best of 5 ​
8. Matches must be completed by the deadline.​
9. If you break rule 8, don't expect to be invited to the next tournament.​
10. If you can't get it done before the deadline, then you better have a darn good reason, and PM me and your opponent well in advance.​
11. If your opponent doesn't play by the rules in some way (i.e., they cover themselves in thunder god drums or something), upload the replay and I'll look at it.​

Also, last month, most of our scheduling and post match discussion took place behind closed doors, as it were, via PMs. I don't think that was as much fun though, consider that all the XBL folks missed out on the drama following Hardwire's matches, so this month let's keep all of that in the main forum thread.

What's swiss?

From wiki:

A Swiss tournament goes for a predetermined number of rounds, with all of the players taking part in each round. In each round two players compete head-to-head. All players participate in the entire tournament – none are eliminated. The winner (and top places) of the tournament is based on the final scores of the players. The final score is based on the number of points they accumulated for each round. In some competitions, one point is awarded to the winner of a round; in others, a number of points can be earned each round.

You can do both AFAIK.

I opted for the one option just because I'm dumping too much time into these, and Swiss sounds like it'd take longer.
