A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...

I would recommend the 2013 cgi movie Space captain Harlock which reminded me of this great character and l might as give it a shot in CAS mode as well brucege :)

This is my Harlock based on the anime but probably more on the latest cgi OAV for the face.

Quite some thought went into the design process, but as always, i'd rather let you guys some space to comment and maybe figure it out by yourself. Hopefully this is a good Harlock, at least i can say it works stellar ingame in relevant stages...

In case you did not figure it out, Albator is the french name for Space Captain Harlock, i'd even say it sounds better to me :)

Thanks, i was expecting a brucege review but he has his hands full doing cute little girls in the contest thread (does this sentence possible bear two meanings, my oh my :P).
Oh, and should i mention they are very adorable and quite up to par with Rachel's btw, which is a compliment....ok, enough light hearted banter, i ended up doing my design notes thingy anyway...

I was also kinda put to the test by Darknemesis suggesting a tweak (missing crossbones), so i had to work hard on perfecting this albator...i guess the added detail will strike you more than the one i removed...

Now he is whole :)

I also happen to be pursuing a minor in pornotography. Yah all these 'sciences' are part of a single course going over the major techniques all researchers use. A real bitch if ya ask me. Anyways, real review forthcoming.

Wut Kappa

Hey V, good stuff here. I has no clue where this character hails from but it seems to be a solid recreation. =D

My dear, you are so missing something, but i guess you are too young to know, i have watched countless episodes of this series when i was a kid, some 30+ years ago :(
Here, educate yourself :

Also, did you have a shot at the other sketches of mine in previous pages ? <3 them ? (remember, you taught me this sign :)

I like how he used the aqua pattern for extra texture. Good stuff.

You are the only one to notice and care for that kind of detail, you, the sensible feminine eye and girl CAs artist (among other arts you do)...i mean, that was the only thing i did not describe and brucege could have used in his review, man, he is doomed to outdo himself on that one to find something fresh to say lol
Think that i originally thought of using the same blueish, purple lining as in my drawing to add some detail, but it just didn't look good, so i went for this instead...

why do i have the feeling i am gonna make it to page 110...
also, we had a couple of cool fights with some of Darknemesis crazy way outside the box RCas, at least until one of us disconnected, such a lame netcode or server issues (knowing we are both french and started with a 5 bar connection)...on a side note, he is a good player, and surely not as rusty as i am...

@orangeislands31: I was joking, sweetheart. My heart is as pure as freshly fallen snow. With a cherry on top.

@VILARCANE:
Not a joke. I add hair extensions all the time with stickers. Red Bull-tan for example:
SOULCALIBUR Ⅴ_24.png
Side bang on right side of face is golden phoenix sticker. Front bangs (near hair parting) are two stacked calligraphy stickers (darker one underneath lighter one for illusion of depth). Works better with dark hair like the Capn's. His eyepatch will also help distract attention away from the appearance of "flatness" due to bump-mapping. Kinda like how I blended the three crescent moons with the stickers on Red Bull-tan.

Of course, I'll do my best with the review too. And yes, I did notice the swimming pool pattern to emulate clothing wrinkles.

P.S. ~ Come vote in the contest if you have time. It's a pretty tight race atm.
Edit: P110 ftw.

Man that is cool hair rendition !
Have you considered using one of the striped patterns slightly skewed to help your ExEq blend a bit more with the hair, i think it might help...otherwise, a beautiful CAS, can i have her number ? :)

Yes, i shall vote, although you know what i think of the contests since i never won any...oh wait, there was this one tho

"XfsT'r ll nogzz 110 !" meaning : "Page 110, you boy get a freebie !"

Excellent. CaS pieces have a tendency to really bulk up, but you've chosen just the right combination of pieces to maintain the Cap'n's wiry, yet muscular build. The ruffled haircut and eye-patch are a near perfect match for the original. Again, I'd try using that golden phoenix sticker to add some extra hair around the eye if you have the slots. The rose he carries adds a hint of romance and hope not otherwise apparent from his bad ass/utilitarian space suit. I've never seen the swimming pool pattern used to emulate clothing folds before, but it does an excellent job of adding detail to his plain jumpsuit. Anime characters tend to have crazy clothing wrinkles too, especially classic ones. The skull print was also very clever. I'd never have thought of using the card club and patch to carve out the eyes and nose (sticker combinations ftw indeed). I much prefer the first version of the skull over the second though. The lower placement of the patch sticker gives the skull a meaner, angrier look, which contrasts more with the romance and hope symbolized by the rose. I can't pick out what exactly you used to make the crossbones (horns?), but good call on that one too. Overall, an excellent recreation of an classic character.

P.S. ~ That portrait with the shining sword is awesome. Super heroic.
P.P.S. ~ Yeah, I'll update my gallery, including Red Bull-tan, soon. Shoulda added some stripes to the crescent moon but watevs. Next time.

Brilliant your in my head review and yes i might tweak the patch / clover stks even tho the original skull is more manga than evil looking...

Well, i thought there was enough girly CAS around and it has to stop, so how about a few bloody macho CAS for a change ? And to make things worse, they are all sci-fi, blasphemy ??? whatev...

This is actually a request from my son who is all into painting his precious warhammer 40K figurines (and getting better at it by the minute).
This was reallyreally challenging and i am not sure if i succeeded or not, you tell me, but the creative process produced some interesting side effects or offsprings, the kind of stuff for the blooper thread, but actually, its usable material...

Here we go, W40K Space Marine :

Bonus pics :

yes, space marines poop like you and me, want proof ?

basis for a perfect dragon ball character RCas, i think so...

LOL airing out teh estrogens, I see. So BADASS that it's kinda adorable. The sheer bulk of the armor almost looks fluffy (in a good way). Did you max the body parameters? Those pinched glowing eyes really make the character. Delightfully tacky. Much cooler use of the rebreather than my HAZMAT dude. Did you ever consider giving him a cape with the corded epaulettes? That might up the macho-ness.

Edit: Hell yeah, stayed up all night studying. Like a boss.
