AMERICA: THE MOVIE

Someone once observed: "America is great because she is good; if she ever ceases to be good she will cease to be great." Today that notion of the essential goodness of America is under attack, replaced by another story in which theft and plunder are seen as the defining features of American history—from the theft of Native American and Mexican lands and the exploitation of African labor to a contemporary foreign policy said to be based on stealing oil and a capitalist system that robs people of their "fair share".
Our founding fathers warned us that, although the freedoms they gave us were hard fought, they could very easily be lost. America stands at a crossroads, and the way we understand our past will determine our future. America the movie takes 21st-century Americans into the future by first visiting our past.
Gerald Molen, the Academy-award winning producer of Schindler's List, and Dinesh D'Souza, the creator of 2016: Obama's America, invite you on a journey of discovery that will bring you face-to-face with the heroes who built America, in the times in which they lived, bled, and sacrificed in order to build a great nation: Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and others. You'll be there as Columbus sets foot on American soil, as bullets whiz by Washington's head, as Douglass demands that America live up to the promises of her Founding Fathers, and as Lincoln sacrifices thousands of lives, including his own, to right a great wrong of history.

"BULLIES"?! Perhaps you've never lived in North Korea, Afghanistan, or China... Blessed that you actually have civil rights, the right to vote, a welfare system, the right to own guns, the right to even play video games / own game consoles and your country doesn't force you to pay 55% of everything you make per year to the government... and you say "BULLIES"?!?!

USA, Japan, New Zealand and a few European countries are like the ONLY places in the world you can freely say "I actually have rights!!"

I'm also an american

You're also not very smart.... Uhh, never mind, I doubt any amount of geographical, rational, and factual evidence showing you how massively oppressed other people are in other countries will effect your opinions...

Just thought I'd post something since seeing an American say "I'm bullied!" is like watching a crying baby born in an Ivory Tower complaining his Ferrarri isn't 4-wheel-drive.

I don't think he meant he felt bullied, but that the American government was a bully to the rest of the world.

I do agree, though, that the whole demonization of America is getting pretty old. We're fucked up. We know it. Everybody else is too, to varying degrees. Go humanity!

The rest of the world deserves to get "bullied" to an extent, especially when they're evil. (North Korea for example) a lot of the times, it's America CIA intervening in political uprising attempts like in South Africa... Thus preventing another horrible genocide.

The governments financial deficit is the least of global problems, Japan for instance, their government is 200% in debt. Money isn't an issue, it's just basic human liberties... Like US convicts are fed better than the average Chinese citizen.. Go figure, lol.

TL;DR Russia and china are constantly demonized in amerikkka they are regular nations protecting their interests. America does the same shit as them. America has rules censoring free speech and the public uses political correctness to censor as well.
ITT americans are idiots

umm no. Russia is far, FAR worse than America. In China you don't even have reproductive rights.

If you think America's free speech is a joke, try doing a gay pride parade in Russia! I'd be surprised if the cops didn't beat you do death.

You can demonize America all you want. The truth is, we are still better than 90% of the nations on earth.

No we don't have free medical insurance and 9 month paid parental leave for both mother and father, but the average American isn't paying 50% in taxes either. You ever been to the UK? Everything is more expensive there, and they are taxed to death. Gas is around 10 dollars a gallon in Germany! FUCK THAT SHIT!

Personally, I would rather live in a place that gives me the freedom to spend a greater portion of my money on whatever I want, which means I can buy that insurance if I really need it, or buy that new car. It's all up to me. I don't like the government telling me how to spend my money.

This is why Obamacare is a disaster. We shouldn't strive to be more like European nations. America became a great nation because we did things our own way. We should continue to do things the American way, (with the exception being that we REALLY need to fully embrace the metric system, and abandon the 'standard' system).

I used to think America was pure evil when I was being brainwashed by my college professors. Then I took a good hard look at other nations and realized that we actually have it quite well here in the states.

Don't be ashamed to be American, be proud of it!

"You can't even imagine how evil our country is
As a 18yr old kid, I was forced to sign up with the military draft board in Ohio. 6 months latter I was forced by the US army to report for duty at the Federal Bldg. This was all done against my will. If I failed to show up, I would have spent 3yr in prison.
I had no quarrel with the Vietnamese people. I would have a prison record for life. You can't imagine the quilt it puts on a young man's shoulders.
I did a Hell of a lot of drugs overthere, to help ease the uncertainty of my life over there.
And killing innocent kids& parents. The US used anti-Communism words like. Communism are anti-god.
And we don't want it spreading all over the globe. You never forget the smell of buring flesh, the crying of young children, when you heard mortar shells dropping.
Now you have young men & woman, playing video games on a computer forgeting real humans are dying from those drones.
Overpopulation is a huge factor, when a country like the US goes to war. Water shortages, land grabs, along with resource sustainability. And fighting over stupid religious ideology. This is why ,stopping a woman's right to have an abortion, is hypocritical.
Im aginst all wars, unless your protecting your boarders.
Wars benfit the rich, they get wealthier over time. They use the poor and middle class, to do the killing for them. The wealthy, never get any quilt put on them.
New jobs are created over war. by their puppet masters. Brainwashing helps the military.
Its very difficult to train a young mind to kill. If we stop overpopulating our planet, maybe we will have less wars, or need for them

I agree with this post like 110%!

My friend lives in Germany and she said actually people there are starting to burn fire wood in their homes to keep warm instead of conventional heating systems because the cost of natural resources like coal is so expensive.... xD Who would have thought future to the past!
I can see that nothing positive is going to come out of this thread. Like at all.
Lol, nothing positive ever does... 1) Either a poster is too stupid or biased to accept basic logic why they're wrong or... 2), someone explains something about economics in great detail and all the info just FLIES over their heads and they go back to Google searching for more free porn.... =P

This is 8wayrun... You'll need to trudge through 2 tons of garbage before you find a gem.

Also... I just wanted to say this....

LOL @ people who talk about "Over Population" LOL!!! Have those dimwits actually seen how un-populated the world actually is? Look at central USA, Alaska, Canada, and Northern Europe. Literally 90% of Canada is un-populated...

The real issue is people move away from cold areas and clump to warmer climates.... Don't believe me? Look at a Population Chart... Be amazed!

The UK is more expensive for you. I have a minimum wage (going up yearly) job £6.31 an hour, around £230 a week. a flat of my own. Whereas you are paid £4.40 minimum if you're lucky. Sometimes they bump it down for you and rely on tips which is laughable ridiculous. Restaurants must be loving it having the public and workers pressuring each other to tip or to perform worthy of a tip, while they are sitting on the money.

America is always going on about freedom of speech and yeah, you arguably have more than a lot of countries, well done for sticking with it all the way. UK prefers freedom from persecution though and to have that you can't be sexist, racist or even homophobic. You will be like "We would fight for your right to say it" and we're like "Nah, go away." and that's why London is the capital of the worrrrrrrllldd.

then there's the whole selling guns to rebels and topperling random governments, reinventing slavery through prison system. getting kids to recite cultish propaganda everyday. getting bankrupt by a broken arm. NSA. constant ads. no appreciation for 'soccer'. sand and deserts because fuck sand and deserts.

The UK is a failure of a government gone mad...

You guys pay ridiculous taxes out of the ass... Boast about your income, then turn around and pay 55% of it to the government at a flat low income rate.. Your government is raping you financially because you pay for health care you don't need, and welfare benefits you don't want. (Gotta love your democracy!)

Your government takes your liberties and you turn around and call it "freedom" because your high tax economy is the only one you've ever known. I guess that's why UK's policies are so successful that them and France need to keep borrowing money from Germany...?

Both countries are different with various traditions, and tolerances. You can't compare them ethically, just opinionatedly.

United States - Minimal private sector government control, many personal liberties (like owning a gun), lower to no income tax in some states, and a larger economy.

United Kingdom - Heavily restrictive government, massive income tax cost, smaller economy, government controls most of private sectors, UK has worse monetary inflation than the USA.

Dude. Minimum wage is 8.25 an hour in the US you dipshit

Dude. Mimimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25 an hour, less in most places if you can earn tips. In Dollars.
Or about £4.40, you dipshit.

Jesus Christ this thread WHAT HAVE I DONEEEEE

That's right @Norik , pray to Jesus. Only He can save America, as I'm sure you'll find out in this movie. Him or the plutocrats.

And yes, this is the first reply in this thread to even mention the Movie.

Just watched the trailer, its about what happens if England didn't let you win. Would have been alright. We would have just given it back to the native Americans, that's what we do with everything. We would have been first to the moon, but no one to give it back to. :(

Jesus Christ this thread WHAT HAVE I DONEEEEE
You knew what you were doing. Let's not pretend.

Now let's see... Do I side with the neocons who demonize government regulation and public schools, or do I side with the liberal hipsters who think that our country is worse than Crimea invading, homosexual executing, KGB-run Russia?

Tough choice. Where are all the rational, sane people?

I can see that nothing positive is going to come out of this thread. Like at all.

Let he whose country is perfect cast the first stone.
Ah, there they are. Primarily ducking out of the thread. Smart move.

In relation to the current discussion going on in this thread: "America: Is it Satan or Jesus", my vote goes to "neither.". I'll just say that countries are comprised of human beings. For all the good and bad that that entails. Just as no person is perfect, no country is perfect, and that more of us live in glass houses than we would like to realize.
