Dampierre's Journal

I've recently been trying to get around having to win 765 fights to complete my Honors for the sake of reading the entire journal, but apparently someone at Gamefaqs beat me to it and posted a hacked save with all Honors two days ago. Anyway, here's all the journal entries for anyone who's interested in reading them.

(After typing them all out I felt they were annoying to read seperately, so I seperated the entries into paragraphs.)

Dampierre's Journal said:
Entry #1: Le Bello's name is Dampierre. Now, I may have stolen the hearts of women across the world, but there is only one woman for this gentleman.

Entry #2: My mustache is curling quite nicely today. Perhaps I'll stop by the salon to swindle money off some fat cats. Le Bello's savings are all going to that one thing, and a man still has to make a living.

Entries #3-8: Odd. I stopped by like usual, but something was off. For one, there was no warm welcome for my arrival. Le Bello was a bit hurt by that. / I interrogated one of the waiters, and it seemed everyone was on guard due to an unwelcome guest. And when people's guards are up, that makes it difficult for me. / The troublemaker was a man dressed in the finest clothes, but I could sense we were of the same breed. And there's no room for two con artists in the same parlor. / I approached the man as though I were a new visitor. While well-dressed, he had "thief" written all over his face. I then suggested we play a game of poker. / Before long, only myself and the shark were left in the game. His pot was running out, and Le Bello had him right where he wanted him. / The con artist's name was Alphard or whatnot, but with the money I got off of him, I'm that much closer to winning the heart of my beloved Margaret. Le Bello should really thank him.

Entries #9-12: As I was leaving the salon like a giddy fawn through a meadow, a bullet came whizzing at me from nowhere. I'm just lucky I'd stooped to pick up a copper coin off the ground just then. / Alphard had his pistol pointed right between my eyes. People began buzzing about us in a panic. Staring down the muzzle of the pistol, there was little Le Bello could do. / "Are you certain you want to do that?" I sneered, and threw my silk glove at Alphard's feet. The spectators stirred, and the ladies were drinking me in with their eyes. / Naturally, Alphard couldn't make his move, so he announced that he'd arrange where our duel would take place, and stormed away. Ooh, Le Bello is shaking with anticipation!

Entries #13-15: If Alphard was able to sneak into the salon undetected, then he's clearly skilled. Not that any level of skill could possibly surpass Le Bello. But if I had an underling like him, I could increase my earnings 48 fold. / The city is plastered with news about the attack on Lord Dampierre. With all the attention, it should be a breeze exposing Alphard. It may take some time, but it's nothing Le Bello can't handle. / I found Alphard's hideout later that evening, and learned that he worked with a sidekick named Ludvigo. Maybe it'd be worth making them into my lackeys...

Entries #16-19: I tipped off the police of their whereabouts, and now they're on the run. As I'd predicted, the two sought refuge in the shadows, running frantically about the city while I watched calmly from the clock tower. / I eventually found the two men nestled in a dirty alleyway. Raising a delicate finger before their slack jaws, I showed them into my secret hideout. / As they looked in awe at my collection of (counterfeit) art pieces, I revealed that I was the teacher of the famous thief Lupian. Now they're begging me to take them under Le Bello's wing. / With the plot Le Bello had so cleverly devised, I now had two semi-capable lackeys at my command. I gracefully stroked my mustache, pleased with my work.

Entry #20: A Damasquinado pendant. My dear Margaret has been begging for one, and I know it can be found in this city of Toledo, Spain. If she's begging, then she must be close to... Heh heh.

Entries #21-27: While seated at a salon in Toledo, Ludvigo whispered to me that he was busy selling a counterfeit art piece to a rich noble and his niece. Glad to see he's getting straight to business. / Alphard tells me he lost all his money in a game of cards. Meanwhile, I managed to smooth-talk my way to a big sale with the counterfeit piece, and am now heading to the real battle. / What should surprise me there but a young woman with a glittering mountain of money in front of her? I casually slipped into an open seat at the table. / First I just observed over idle chit-chat, taking note of her habits. Then I stroked my mustache, wondering how I could extort her money while she was distracted. / She told me her name was Gisele and she hails from Italy. She had come to Toledo to rest and was visiting the salon with her uncle today. Could she be the same neice with the gentleman from before? / By the time I'd won back Alphard's portion, I glanced out the window to see night blanketing the town. Time for us to show our true selves. / I knelt before Gisele and offered a single beautiful rose before excusing myself. I could see her cheecks blossoming red. Though my heart already belongs to another, Le Bello is still a playboy.

Entry #28: One day, Margaret came to me with a valuable antique vase, saying I should have it because it's supposed to bring its owner happiness. What a thoughtful woman...

Entries #29-35: The city of Firenze is a goldmine of hidden treasures. Today Le Bello has been asked to go out and search for a hidden antique, so we're headed out to find it. / Our search has brought us to a historic mansion in the countryside. Rumor says it serves as a thief's hidden vault or a genius's hideaway. But I've never heard of anyone finding any treasure. / Only the sound of our footsteps echoes in the eerie silence. Le Bello is not good at handling spooky places like this. I hope we finish our work and get out of here soon. / As Le Bello expected, the antique was indeed hidden cleverly. As we walked through the parlor, my sensitive whiskers felt a draft coming up through the floorboards! / I called for Ludovigo and Alphard from the other room, and had Ludvigo cut through the floorboards. Unfortunately, he got too into it and wound up cutting where we were standing. / As you can imagine, the fall completely ruined my mustache. While I fixed it, I suddenly thought back to my childhood days. Le Bello was so full of vigor back then... / I was finally dragged out of my pleasant daydream by Alphard's voice calling me. Seems he's found what we were after.

Entry #36: We got back to town and got paid after giving the (counterfeit) antique to the client. Please, we're not really bad people. Tomorrow, I finally get to see my beloved Margaret.

Entry #37: Le Bello's heart is crushed. My beloved Margaret has fled with an attractive gentleman from town. and is traveling South for their honeymoon. Oh, woe is me...

Entries #38-40: Margaret must be getting bamboozled! In other news, I heard a peculiar rumor while doing work in Venezia. The kingdom of Wolfkrone is said to be on the verge of disaster! / With the Wolfkrone monarch fallen ill, it appears his daughter has taken command of the troops. My whiskers are tingling, I can already see the potential for mischief. / I've already ordered Alphard and Ludvigo to make the arrangements for our departure. But first, we have one final job to do in town. Our client has asked us to kidnap someone.

Entry #41: The carriage is arriving, just as our client said. Inside should be the woman we've been ordered to kidnap. Time to put on our masks and stop the carriage.

Entries #42-46: You won't believe who we found inside the carriage! It was Gisele, the same girl I swindled at the Toledo salon! Our work is done if we turn her in, but Le Bello has other plans... / We quickly bound and gagged the servants, and I purred, "Your uncle has sent us to rescue you," unmasking myself in front of Gisele. / Gisele was not the least surprised as she replied bluntly, "So it was my uncle, hm?" Seems even my disguise couldn't fool her. Shrugging that off, I explained the circumstances to her. / Just then the sound of approaching soldiers affirmed my lie. But we had yet to hear word from our client. This must be part of the client's plan to sell us out! / "Er, it seems the real kidnappers have arrived," I told Gisele, as she gazed intensely into my eyes. The cover of night keeps us safe, but there's no way we can return to the city now.

Entry #47: Gisele's madly in love with me, and I should use it to my advantage. I must figure out how to enter the Wolfkrone Kingdom without putting Le Bello at risk.

Entry #48-49: After sending Gisele's uncle a letter relaying that I'm a skilled strategist, we were accepted into the Wolfkrone Kingdom. Le Bello is sharp as a tack, so I already have the information I need. / I wouldn't mind returning Gisele home, but by keeping her here, I may be able to swindle some ransom money from her uncle. Maybe I should mention in my letter she's safest with Le Bello.

Entry #50: With my charm and savvy, I had Gisele write the letter. Perhaps it's due to the power of love that Gisele is so infatuated with me. And so we set upon our wild and hairy journey to Wolfkrone Kingdom.

Wow thanks for putting the effort on posting that, much appreciated. I haven't even gone through half of that stuff yet - going through those "honors" just to read his story is a huge hassle! Whoever designed that needs get kicked in the nuts. The story sounds really interesting though, too bad Namco was too lazy and decided to make everything text. If BD had a story mode, Dampierre would probably have the most interesting plot...

So I guess Gisele, Ludovigo and Alphard are those 3 characters surrounding him in the official shots eh?

This whole game feels unfinished, and the cliffhanger ending to that journal is more evidence of it. I still can't believe Gisele, Ludovigo and Alphard are never pictured, and the Broken Destiny sword is never explained. I'm worried that Namco told the team to cut and run mid-project, and that's why the release date was moved up by a month.

Hopefully, so that they can release an even hotter version of BD on consoles and move the newly recruited PSP-players over to that one.

Shit, I feel the same way. I was actually looking forward to the return of an involving story with BDs release. I mean, the only promotional material released for this game WAS the Broken Destiny sword and Dampierre, you'd figure the fusion of the game's two most important story elements would play a larger role than "You've completed our non-canon tutorial, so take this sword without explanation."

I honestly don't see why everyone was looking forward to a game that's technically just a patch. And it's on a handheld system. And there isn't enough content/changes to make this worth buying since it lends itself to my first point. And there's only two new characters in place of two of the SW characters. And the majority of the major changes are things that were already requested a long time ago.

But, companies like Namco can get away with shit like this because they know that people will buy it anyway and then complain after their money has been collected. It's sad to think about how many people shelled out $40(?) for this game, and will then pay for the update that hits the console. And don't act like you won't.

Right. Got any more tired, old, contextually inappropriate, cynical, unchecked bullshit you'd like to throw out there? Something about how PSP sucks? No, you got that. Namco is greedy and unreasonable? No, you got that too. Got all the repetitive asshole bases covered. Thanks for spoiling another thread.

Chill out dude, its only $40. You make it sound like Bamco sold us the Statue of Liberty for our life savings.

I would've posted some more if I did. Besides, I was just continuing the negative mood that you created.

I'm pretty sure that I've never mentioned anything about the PSP. I never had a desire for one, so I never bought one. Simple. There seems to be a general consensus, from what I've seen, that a lot of people think Namco is greedy, but that wasn't what I said in the first place. If anything, they were smart for releasing a patch as a separate game on the PSP before going to consoles, so they can make extra money off of those who would buy it so quickly.

Actually I didn't.

Sweet and to the point: If you like this game, then good for you. I personally and in my opinion don't think it's worth buying as a separate game. You don't need/have to agree, and I don't need to censor myself for the sensitive people on the internet.

My point is it's all been said before. By you? Maybe not. Hard to keep track. It's just a really tired perspective that's derailed a dozen threads, and it never goes anywhere. We get it, you're stingy and distrustful. That's great. I hope it makes you rich and safe, but as a conversational direction: it's a little broad. No matter what thread you drop that into, it's total derailment.

And...? I'm allowed to voice my opinion about a video game on a video game forum whether it's been said a million times or not.

And you're derailing this thread like most of the threads you post in with personal attacks or your usual "internet bullying". I understand that you like to talk all big and tough on the nets, but most of us just don't buy it.

And only a retard would come to the conclusion that I'm stingy and distrustful because I don't have an interest in this game.

1) I don't want to play the AI on the go.
2) I don't want to play any Soul Calibur game on a handheld system.
3) There doesn't seem to be enough content to consider this a new game, IMO. Sorry but two new characters, almost identical movesets from SC4 for the rest of the cast, and an updated CF system doesn't feel like a new game to me.
4) I'll just wait for this to come out as DLC. Then I'll buy it.

Sorry for continuing to take your thread off topic, Eyce_Theon. I'm done posting in here.

The real purpose of this thread is all in the first post. Bumps are cool though.

I was bored, so I remade the three cronies in character creation. Ludvigo sucks, but there's nothing closer.
