You should have a harder time trying to think of a character that ISN'T high risk in DOA5...but high reward, not sure.
High risk and high reward? Jann Lee is the first one who came in my mind, but he need to be confirmed first.
I started playing DoA4 again to refresh my skills. I had forgotten how stupidly frustrating the CPU is.
we have enough ninja gaiden characters don't we? if we are gonna have anymore guest characters in DOA5 then it should be more from Virtua Fighter. just played DOA4 against my friend and found that since playing SC5 i block a lot more than spam counter. and found that it's super easy to read the opponent and not get countered. don't know why people were complaining so much on that. yeah counters did a lot of damage if timed right but that's it. the random counter thing didn't seem to bother me much.
Irene (aka Sonia) already made an appearance in DOA:D. I'm surprised they didn't make her playable this time out.
It's difficult to say, as they've actively admitted to changing things up in this iteration. In DOA4, they tried a more homogeneous approach to character diversity where anyone could pick up another character easily. However, they're looking like they're going back to a more DOA3.1/3.2 style of diversity in this iteration. If that's the case, what's your preferred style of play as that would be easier to suggest a character? For example, in DOA3.1 I could say the following summaries for you: Ayane: Evasive character, Fast attacks, Decent juggle damage, Positional reliant, unsafe Bass: Punishment character, Extreme punishment damage, Large hurt box, Slow attacks, Can work you into the environment, Pressure from grappling Bayman: High Defensive hold damage, Slow attacks, Throw punishment, not so good at wall damage Gen Fu: Amazing at Defense and Offense, evasive attacks with good damage, can get nice juggle damage and wall pressure, has advanced parries that can provide guaranteed hit setups, good natural combos, quick attacks Hayabusa: Evasive character, Good Throw and hold punishment, some guard break setups, decent natural combos, rather fast attacks with moderate evasion. Hayate: Rush character, attacks have good priority, plenty of natural combos granting lots of damage, moderate speed attacks, and good juggle damage Helena: Evasion character, stance based, low juggle game Hitomi: Rush character, high damage with good mixups but mostly unsafe attack strings, decent juggle damage with better than moderate attack speeds, excels at the wall game Jann Lee: Rush character, Amazing Wall Damage and pressure, Nice juggle damage, Defensive hold setups, can push to wall easily, quick attacks with quick mids Kasumi: Extreme poking character, Fast attacks, not as evasive as Ayane, plays more mix-up and mindgames with high damage Lei-Fang: Positional changing defensive holder, medium speed attacks, faster grapple speeds with combo throws that grant advantage, positional changing throws, good throw damage Leon: Mix of Punishment and Rush character, High Throw Damage, Guard breaker, frame advantage setups, Slow attacks so needs a bit of space to get in. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.
I think that there are 11 characters left to reveal: Brad, Eliot, Jann - Lee, Helena, Lisa, Gen Fu, Leon, 2 new characters Mila and Rig and I heard that Alpha - 152 will return and Pai from Virtua Fighter 5 will join the roster as the third guest character....I think that the roster is satisfactory....!!! :D
Thanks, that's helpful. It's hard to say what my preferred style is since I don't play much 3D. I played Tira pre-patch in SCV and in SC4. I played Asuka when I played the little Tekken that I did, but I found out that I really don't like Tekken. I thought her counters were really interesting(before I found out that chickening made them useless) and I liked the flow of her normals. I really like counters in general but everybody has them in this game so that doesn't help me lol. Also I will probably only play girl characters unless a dude really stands out to me.
