so yeah I think the evidence of this list being accurate can be easily seen through Rig who was proven to be real after all. the main question to ask is whether they added characters/costumes/etc... after the beta and what will be different.

so to the people wondering what other new characters there will be don't expect much else besides Mila. whoever she is.

what i'm saying is that this game seems to be focused on true martial arts forms. Boxing's not one of them.

Yeah I agree, if it's not Kasumi then it's surely Alpha. Don't think it looks like Hitomi at all. Still think it's Kasumi though.

Yeah confirmed, these can be found on the official website http://teamninja-studio.com/teamninja/doa5/uk/modes.html

Crazy talk. That's like saying pre-SCV "you should get SC1 and SFIV to practice for SCV, because of the simplified movelists and meter management; don't bother with SCIV".

@JetSet Of course getting DOA4 would be helpful. Many of the strings will be the same or similar and help you get used to the animation, as well as a feel for the game and the basic system. There's no need to buy an old Xbox and dig up DOA3, or spend time learning a completely different fighting game, to prepare for DOA5.

I mean picking up any DOA tittle since he is new to the series will help him start getting use to everyones combos, and though they have change a bit, it will still help him to recognize the combos, in that sense it will help... :D

And DOA 4 would be the best choice since the combos are closest to that version!

This is a game where ninja's teleport around the screen, that doesn't seem to be a "true martial art" form to me.
Except that picking up DOA4 to prepare for 5 is like picking up Street Fighter III to prepare for SFIV. The underlying meta is so different that you're doing yourself a disservice.
Except that everyone knows that DOA 4 is crap. Even TN knows this, why do you think that they have 3.1 running in their offices as reference and not 4?

4 will simply teach you bad habits. The way holds worked in that game is way different from 3.1 or 5. 3.1 is closer just for the fact alone that you can't freely hold out every time you get hit. 4 is a very defensive game that gives the advantage to the defender when they make a mistake. From the looks of it, 5 is going to be the opposite. Stricter hold timing plus the combination of string delay and free cancel seem to point to a game where the defending player has to work harder to predict the attacking players moves for less reward when they do. Playing 3.1 will at least keep you from relying on holding out to escape every situation (the only valid strategy in 4). Then, there's also the bonus that any competitive DOA players you meet will probably be playing on 3.1 as well.

As for VF5FS, the latest reports indicate that the VF guests will keep stuff from VF that the DOA cast not only doesn't have, but may have trouble dealing with. It's pretty much known that Sarah could frame trap the rest of the cast to death in the E3 build. That probably wont change much in the final build.

Lets agree to disagree... I played the DEMO I recommend playing 4 to prepare for 5! 3 is awesome as well :D

The Alpha demo was more DOA4 than the E3 build.

Which means they're stepping away from DOA4's mechanics.

So no, don't play DOA4. Don't even prepare. Get DOA5 when it comes out.

The titles kind of remind me of SCV's title set up.
  8. EternalArcadia [07] Duelist

I really like quick battle, and titled are nifty, so this will be a good thing to me.

You're a funny guy. I'm sure a lot of people in here are very impressed how clever you are. I think, given that DOA4 is on Xbox360, and that a lot of the strings will be the same (like Kasumi's moveset, for example, which was quite different in DOA3), DOA4 would be fairly helpful in familiarising a beginner with the basics. If JetSet finds that getting used to the 'underlying meta' of DOA4 completely ruins his attempts at picking up DOA5 when it arrives, I humbly, humbly apologise.

Who knows, maybe those who pick up an old Xbox, a copy of DOA3, and spend time learning VF5 instead will turn out to be much more comfortable with DOA5 when it arrives than those fools who just learned a few strings and combos from the prequel.
  10. EternalArcadia [07] Duelist

Well I have VF5 Online for 360. I mained Pai, which if its the same pai going to be in DoA5 (Which it probably will), that makes me pretty happy.

    Any news on Helena?
  12. JetSetDizzy [11] Champion

Yeah it's pretty much DOA4 or learn 5 from scratch. I probably won't even have an opportunity to play the game outside training mode anyway, but I just wanted to get a feel for the general system since as of now I have barely touched any DOA. Not messing with original xbox. Thanks for the opinions!

    Alpha 152 yeeha =)
    thank you for the info.

so there's an english voice over for this game as well. didn't play dimensions so this is new to me. i didn't play the DOA Extreme series either but i don't count those anyway. wonder if the english voice over for Jahn lee is better than the Japanese one. it obviously can't be worse.

They actually went VF on the English voiceovers.

    FUCK!
  15. UnseenWombat [14] Master

I like it. It feels weird listening to characters who have no business speaking Japanese speak Japanese. It feels less weird hearing non-English-speaking characters speak English, because I'm used to it now. (Though I still don't like it. That's why I'm so happy about TTT2)

Love this video, seeing hot girls fighting in water is classic DOA nostalgia! ooooohh I can't wait now!

I prefer the simplicity of the previous cover art.
