I couldn't bring myself to read the whole thing. Much, much disappointment. A fucking Reach 2 like you said. Why didn't they make a damn copy of Halo 3, which was a damn copy of Halo 2. What they don't understand is that new stuff is cool, but complete different game is not. For example, Modern warfare is the most played game on xboxlive since Halo 3 died and even before that. Why? because each sequel is a frickin clone of the previous one, which was a success. The Duty scrubs and strong players never ever get tired of "Same shit, different day", and the addictive level up system ( which still sucks compared to H3's). Oh well I'm still getting it to try it. If it's like Reach, I'll just drop it like most people will do. I have more expectations of RE6 anyway.
Interesting. But you know Halo Reach was considered shit by most and then died right? You can't compare it to Halo 3, which was the core of competitive Halo. And it was a just an improved Halo 2.
Sure, but "I" personally don't want to play the same game over and over again. This is why so many people don't like Call of Duty, because of it's absolute refusal to evolve. Each Halo has at least been marginally different from the previous one, and even though most people considered Halo Reach to be bad I had a hell of a good time with it. I still play it, in fact, just like how I played 3 until Reach came out. There were a lot of factors that kept me from getting into Halo 3 as heavily, one of them being time, but I'm glad Reach isn't exactly like 3 and I'm glad this one isn't either. I am all for competitive games, and I understand exactly why people were mad at Reach (especially the MLG crowd) but Halo always has enough custom features so you can make it whatever game you want. Reach lacked some of those features at launch (Bloom control for one) but this one already has them. I'm confident.
I actually like your positive attitude towards it. I had some fun with Reach too. But the removal of the intelligent ranking system was it's online downfall. I would have played it much longer if ranked actually took some skills.
My issue with the ranking system was that you never got matched up against people of similar skill in both Reach and Halo 3 because TrueSkill is a joke. The 1-50 system was great because it at least categorized the skill level of some players, or at least some teams. I prefer Halo 2's 1-50 system, where you could lose levels easily and it lowered your overall level, that way you had to consistently play well. If I was more competitive, I'd consider the Halo 2 level system to be the best. So that is a major detractor, yes.
I know this is not Bungie, but what Bungie said is they don't want to bring out the same game each time, which I respect. They could easily make more money by churning out the same crappy game every year, like CoD. Thanks for the links/videos guys. I think I'll get this regardless, I've been starved for a good FPS that wasn't Halo, but I guess that will never come. [Hate the single shot BR btw]
Actually, since 343 is nearly the entire complete team that worked on the first five halo games this is still technically the "Bungie" we know.
Vic DeLeon, Chad Armstrong, Patrick Gillette, Donnie Taylor, and Frank O'Connor. Yup, that's most of them.
This game is only a little over a week away. FALCON....BUMP! This is my most anticipated title this year(which is something, considering I am dropping $400+ total for a WiiU/ZombiU) and I cannot wait to hit everything this game has to offer. I've been hitting the Mt.Dew Double XP promo pretty hard X_X;. I actually hate Mt.Dew now. That aside, this game is looking like a good time. REMEMBER! Play the MP before November 20th and get access to the 8 specializations, this early access was originally LE exclusive, but now even Standard Edition folks can get on in it.(If you play a MP match before Nov.20th) Map Packs: Crimson(December), Majestic(February), Castle(April). Map Pack Pass comes with LE, Standard Folks can cop it for $25 on day 1(which is a 15% discount to buying all three Map Packs separately) comes with 2 Bonus Helmets and a Emblem.
I'm pretty much a PC shooter purist.... and Reach was the only Halo I liked. I see many people putting down 4 for many of the reasons put down SC5; core mechanic changes. I feel like if people can play SSBB competitively, people ought not be throwing tantrums over Reach (and Halo 4's) viability to be competitive. I don't really like shooters as much as I did when I was younger and into Quake and stuff, but I do like co-op and MP games which have large userbases, and isn't "modern" and feels like a game still. Halo fits that niche for me.
That had so much "right" in it it made me feel bad. On the other side, a skill less Call of Duty style ranking system didn't help Halo Reach's cause among "competitive" online players.
Man even back in the day when I played FPS seriously, only LAN tournaments mattered. Online rank was still a joke. Maybe people need to get back to their ROOTS.
Can't wait myself. I'm mainly interested in the campaign but multiplayer is always fun. And I actually liked Reach, believe it or not. (Both single-player and multiplayer) It may not have been as good as the previous games but it was still fun. Even though there was this one time I raged after losing a whole lot and accidentally broke a 40" LED TV. Yeah, not good.
I hope this Halo game will be alot more better then Reach & Halo 3. I'm looking forward to the story of Halo 4 & multiplayer action. I love how Halo takes much more skill then both Gears & Cod but I hated how Halo made weapons that become too reliable. I hope Halo 4 will not make the same mistake. Halo is a really skillful game, but I hope they made this game a little more senseful & skillfully this time. It would be nice if Halo made most weapons unique in some way & fair between any gun. I don't wanna be forced to use DMR or BR because those are the two best guns you can have. I hated it how the Assault Rifle was pointless to use in any way you see fit. I hate happening not to pick up the plasma smg because I know its weak, but its much more fun to use then the DMR because it gives out more action towards my gameplay. I think what they should have done was make the Assault Rifle stronger & DMR weaker because its a far range gun. It would make sense why the Assault Rifle's more powerful because its not a far range gun to use. As for other guns, I'm hoping this time they make them more valuable. All those guns invented like the brute shot, sword, plasma smg, human smg, needle gun, rockets, plasma rockets, everything except sniper, dmr, or plasma rifle are all pointless to use. I hated that because I was forced to use something I didn't want to in order to be good or atleast go positive. They should probably do the same thing with the classes they have set up too. I mean I too also don't want to be forced to use holograms or shield locks. I wanna be able to sprint with whatever gun I use that gets provided to me (If they do make classes again). I HATE BEING FORCED.... but nooo, because DMR says fuck me if I don't use it or else I go negative. DMR's are the key to going positive along with sniper. If I use my beloved plasma smg, Assault Rifle, Sword, Shotgun, or human smg, I'll get stomped up close & far distances because DMR, Pistol, & Snipers are better at both distances. Anyways, I'm still eagered to play me some Halo for my clansmen we stand shoulder to shoulder.
