Lost Swords

I don't think you guys should lose hope just yet.SC6 is without a doubt happening. We just need patience. IMO, i think SCVI will be announced at TGS.It's seems like a perfect opportunity. If not, then probably before this year ends.
Remember SCV was announced at a conference here in Dubai. Not in a huge gaming event. So you never really know. I doubt that scv will be the last sc title. If god forbid it was, then that would be a terrible way to end it.
I think we got enough hints to keep hope in us for scvi :)

i still have hope for sc6 still

I still check by on the site every few days but as for playing the game, I haven't really "played" it in quite awhile. I got bored. I'll dabble with character creation here and there but for the most part, the game pretty much died for me. I'll most likely be playing it again when I do my video game review video for it but other than that, I've found myself casually playing SCII, III, and a little of IV every now and then.

Agreed so much. There has been no word on if there is going to be another Soul Calibur game and it's disappointing because Lost Swords was just rubbish. It was already bad enough when they stopped the character creation DLC (even if it was disc locked, I still would have liked the items). We could have gotten more updates and even DLC characters but nope, nothing. Nada.

And I feel you on Tekken. I'm really on the fence with that one as well. What happened to Namco? lol

I'm glad that you agree with me my friend, Namco has two strong cards and these are Tekken & Soul Calibur projects... I don't know what happened to namco but if they continue like that, they will lose many fans... We don't have no news for Tekken 7 updates since June and about Soul Calibur 6 I think that it isn't even in development, they deal only with Lost Swords and making crappy, and porn CaS parts.... But my hope is TGS 2015....

Believe me, I'm hoping that you're right. SCV was a bit letdown but it can still turn around with proper procedures and a bit of tidying up. As for your hints? I've been out of the general loop of SC for awhile now. What kind of hints were dropped? I mean, the last I remember was the "vote for your favorite character" post a couple months back.

The thing with Tekken 7 right now that's turning me off is the nonappearance of Nina Williams who was my main for all the games. And well, just the overall feeling of the game itself is slightly turning me off. After seeing the latest costume DLC with the whole "Idol" pack, I feel Tekken is going to turn into a heavy anime style which is just not what I'm into that much these days. I know that anime has been a part of Tekken but in it's earlier days till say, Tekken 4 (5 slightly), it wasn't so in your face. I wish I could explain it better.

Well, I'm going to hope that Soul Calibur 6 is in development and they were just keeping it a secret lol

I don't know what they thinking and what are they going to do... But I think that it's ridiculous to keep it as a secret if they are working on a new Soul Calibur game and probably for Soul Calibur 6... The fans want to know some news....
There's got to be a surprise factor.

Remember when SCV was announced, Daishi stated that Project Soul has been already working on it for an entire year!

Hmm, Tekken's anime part is turning you off but with Soul Calibur, which is semi-anime (aesthetically), you are ok. Well, that's wierd.

Ah well that is proof enough lol. Thanks for showing.

It's funny you bring that up.

Igot into Soul Calibur durign Soul Calibur 2 and while there were some slight anime themes in the game, you could tell they were going for some slight realism and not to mention the awesome stage designs that took inspiration from real places. This continued on with SC3 and was expanded upon even more. I mean, you could even tell in the special renders that they wanted to go traditional.
I mean compare Setsuka's face here in Soul Calibur 3 to how her face looks in Soul Calibur IV (where the heavier anime influence started to go full circle)

Or Kilik for another example

And for another striking example, Sophitia

So while Soul Calibur had some anime roots, I prefer the former style direction where they put about more stock into fantasy/realism with a hint of anime. But the reason I have stuck by with Soul Calibur was mainly for the character creation. It's probably one of the best Character creation systems on a console. And if the feature was brought into Tekken, I'd stay hooked on it as well lol.

With Tekken, I'm the same way where I prefer the style direction from Tekken 2, 3, & 4. The anime style was starting to come in Tekken 5 but it wasn't overt yet. Tekken 5 was pretty much the Soul Calibur 3 in terms of render direction I think.

But anyway, I'm not saying that these changes are inherently bad because I know there are people who love this kind of thing. I'm just sharing my own 2 cents and as far as Soul Calbur goes, as long as it has Character creation in it, I'll still be into it which sounds bad but I just don't think too much of the main characters these days. The last time I did was in IV. I think the problem was that V didn't go into detail of the new characters so I was not interested in the slightest even though I did like Zwei and Viola.

You're comparing promotional renders to ingame screenshots, which isn't a fair comparison. Looking at ingame graphics, I don't think there was much of a style difference between 3 and 4: http://img.gamefaqs.net/screens/6/8/c/gfs_65750_1_6.jpg

I see where you're coming from though. I'd say definitely SC5 got a bit anime-ish, particularly with the presentation of the story mode and the design of the new characters.

Oh I know that they were promotional. I was trying to get across what they may have been wanting to do at the time but obviously the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox wasn't powerful enough. Now thinking about it, I guess you're right. I think the only reason it looked that way was because of how they made everything look so shiny and glossy. Perhaps if they didn't go overboard with the highlighting, I would have liked it better but uh, that's just me.

But yes, SCV definitely went full on anime and that just bothered me. I mean, I feel conflicted a bit because I do like Zwei's design and I personally feel he was more inspired by Castlevania.

I hope that Soul Calibur 6 goes back to it's more traditional roots but I guess we'll have to wait and see but I'm really not feeling any of the fetish garb of recent lol.
