So the tourney actually starts at 1pm?
Signups will start at 1pm. We'll probably start playing a little after that. 1:30 or 2. Honestly, I'm not sure how many people to expect, I've gotten a lot of "maybes." It will take us a little bit to get set up either way...
Nice tournament guys. Time to realize I cannot throw moves out that are higher than -14 on block against Pyrrha. Counterpicking Algol worked well overall but my lack of frame data knowledge on him murdered me in the end. I'd love to see those videos!
Uploading them now... trying to compress some to expedite the process. I'm going to make a post-tournament thread and I'll post links there, here, and the facebook page.
I did -not- adapt well to 236B. Mike was overall better than me too, but that just blew me apart.
Time to study the Pyrrha matchup!
Nice also why you were using Astaroth Silver?
Asta is my secondary. Actually, I use him more than Leixia in friendlies and such, I just put less effort into learning him.
To be entirely frank, I saw someone (I think Mike?) watching my match and I didn't want to reveal my Leixia style to him before we played, so I went Asta.
Not that it mattered much.

For sure. Just have to look at and remove anything that is -14 from your arsenal unless you're punishing. I did well against him until the last set we played. I would have won the entire tournament if I didn't drop that Algol chair CE in the first set (which I dropped three times against him, nerves were crazy weird). Really disappointed about that but overall I'm pretty disappointed I couldn't adapt to that AS B. Nerves got to me and I wasn't even punishing it when I blocked it with 4BA. I just settled for his 6BBB block string. It alright though, his spacing was mad good.
it's going to be tough to play most characters without using moves that are -14, but i know what you're getting at. i was really surprised that you didn't 4BA every time you blocked my AS B, but now we know I guess.
I'll admit, I still think you're a better player than I am. I enjoyed our sets.
Lincoln v. Omaha team battle.....who wants this to happen as much as I do?
I do but we need to see how many players we would have and such.
Omaha needs to bring more players lol, then I'd love it.
Big time. I was telling everyone I wanted to see this happening. Next time for sure.
Yep otherwise I have to rep Omaha by myself which I don't wanna do but if's that's the case so be it.
I ended up being sick and missed my race in the morning and this tournament. Shitty weekend was shitty.
We'll be having another one next month, we'll probably discuss the date on Wednesday. It won't be the 16th because we don't want to overlap with the MSK guys and whatever they're doing.
I'd really dig if you guys could make it Sunday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday. Saturday is almost never going to work for me since I just took off two Saturdays in a row (24 hour shifts for me, no shit).
The thing about Saturday is if people want to come from out of state they can travel Friday night/Sunday morning to save time... I want to attract as many out-of-state players as possible but obviously that didn't happen this last time so maybe it's a waste until we start traveling and meet other players and such.
We'll talk about it I guess. Can you be there Wednesday?
Of course we have to travel and meet other players and such before people know us. It was the same way with our smash scene with brawl. At least MKL wont have to do it all by himself anymore unless stuff comes up?
Also I would be down for both Saturday/Sunday later down the line.
I talked to a few people at Naka, was kind of hoping some would show up.
Looking at possible tournaments we could take a group to...
There's a CO one listed but it's part of an anime con and there's an entry fee for the con itself so that's probably out.
There's one in Iowa on March 24th with a bunch of other games, but Fists and Frags is on the same day here in Lincoln; Fists and Frags does not list SCV as an event however, even though it has a thread here. The Iowa one is also five hours away.
There's also a MO one happening on the 17th but GODDAMN IT'S A SIX HOUR DRIVE.
Goddammit Nebraska, why are you so far away from major population centers?
AND HEY KANSAS STEP YOUR SHIT UP WHERE ARE YOUR EVENTS?
At the moment, sad as it is, it looks like we're the big mid-midwest scene; our thread has more activity since SCV release than Kansas or Iowa has since their creation. We either need to find a way to convince scattered players over KS, IA, SD, WY, etc. to come here or convince those in places like Des Moines and KC to host sizeable events...
Also we need to advertise better for our next one; preferably a lot in Omaha since their population dwarfs ours. I'll try talking the MSK people into maybe doing SCV too...
Man I just really want a scene to thrive. If I wasn't poor as hell I'd even add a pot bonus from my own pocket.
We'll discuss dates and battle strategies on Wednes day.
I'm going to be out of the country for work for a few weeks next month so likely won't be able to make a tourney then unless it's end of month. If there's a place here in Omaha where we could have a tourney that would be pretty ideal for me (being selfish).
I remember there used to be a decent pool of people in Cedar Rapids back in the SC1/2 days but not sure how that scene is now. They used to have a yearly tourney in the summertime for Tekken, SC, and other random items folks brought in.
Flights to CO are usually cheap and having made that drive many times, I would much rather fly it. Scenery is a lot better there than Iowa or Kansas also.
