We can figure it out. Even if we needed to wait until 6 or so, we probably would still be able to finish by the time the place closes as long as we have enough setups.

EDIT: Pretty awesome NCR recap video by Richard Li. I've spotted Krayzie, AlexJ and Cedric so far!

MLG is one June 8th (Anaheim, CA). I want to get a jump early on planning. Who's all planning on going?

    Edit:
    Also, Disneyland/CaliAdventure?!

I know I'd be interested in a bi-weekly or some kind of casual gathering. I need to get better and It would be nice to play against people that know this game so I can hopefully learn something.

now that we have a tentative schedule at Gamecenter (Saturday, bi-weekly, after 6PM)...

let's have a TO create the ranbat points system, so dummies like me can understand the ruleset.

This bi-weekly Saturday at Gamecenter, which Saturday is that?

That sounds like so much fun! I'm definitely down for that.

    How does this look?
    • 1st - 8pts
    • 2nd - 7pts
    • 3rd - 6pts
    • 4th - 5pts
    • 5th - 3pts
    • 7th - 1pt
    AKA, top 8 gets points.

When's the first one? I just want to play more than I do now, which is pretty much never.
  8. soakrates [09] Warrior

I say wait until the 14th for the first one, since we've got a holiday weekend coming up (plus we'd have more time to promote), but it's not a huge deal to me either way.
  9. soakrates [09] Warrior

Buuuuut, if you guys wanna have a gathering there this weekend, I'd be cool with that.

Generally you want a greater difference between top and, say, 4th place. The double-elimination format is only accurate for the top 2 spots (assuming no upsets). Doesn't seem right for a person getting 4th twice having more points than someone who won one and couldn't show for another. Also is there a prize or something for winning the ranbats?

Actually, the points would make more sense if there were a lot more people showing, like 100 or so. But since I'd expect about 20 it doesn't need to be like that.

    Version 2!
    • 1st - 7pts
    • 2nd - 5pts
    • 3rd - 3pts
    • 4th - 1pt
As for prizes, dunno. I'm sure we'll think of something along the way. If anybody has any suggestions let's hear them!
  12. Dustinsworth [04] Fighter

I'd say focus on a turnout first, and worry about some point structure later. My only reason for going to something like this is to swap tips and learn from others.

Heyyy! I've been wanting to try to learn Soul Calibur V and wanted to know where the weekly meet ups are so I can learn the ropes. :3
  14. soakrates [09] Warrior

Myung already mentioned a roundtrip ticket to Evo as a possible prize. Hotel is also a possibility, but it would depend on turnouts.

    Sounds pretty neat, either way.

UPDATE: Gamecenter has a Skullgirls tournament scheduled for the 14th, so this Saturday might be a better option to get started on this. I know it's somewhat short notice, but let me know if you'd be able to attend this Saturday for the first ranbat.

    THANKS!
  16. soakrates [09] Warrior

Another update: The people running the Skullgirls tournament are cool with us running a tournament on the same day, as long as we start a little late, like around 6pm. That time works for me, because I know some players such as Alex can't make it to the tourney until later anyway.

At this point I'm just waiting for people to chime in and tell me that day/time doesn't work, but no one seems to have a problem with it, so I'm going to go ahead and plan for the 14th. So yeah, if enough people are OK with that date and don't mind sharing Gamecenter with another tournament, April 14 looks like a go.
  17. Skizosavior [01] Neophyte

I won't be able to make it out to the 14th but I would this weekend, although I do think sharing the tournament with another game like Skullgirls would be better than having it just to SCV, more people, get some people playing both games, all that good stuff.

Also, props to Gamecenter for hosting all of these different tournaments
