Not a tier list per se, but kindof a tier list of how YOU do with each character, and maybe some justification behind your positioning of them. I don't know why, I just found myself wanting to rearrange the characters on the forum listing to how I rank them, and I thought it would be interesting to see how other people did it too. [IMG]
I started playing mainly siegfried, then I thought I should have a secondary so I started playing a lot of 'rugi. I thought about maining mitsurugi, but after a few days of playing him, he's just not as fun for me as sieg.

I mained astaroth in all the other soul caliburs.

I do decent with natsu and I don't even know her moveset. With practice she could definitely move up in my rankings.

I put xiba here cause I actually learned his whole moveset, and that makes me better with him than people I haven't learned all their moves yet. I rank him last of the people that I know their moves though. He'll probably move down in ranking as I learn more people (yeah... I haven't learned that many characters yet)

I dont have anything to say about some of my rankings... like pyrrha.

I ranked yoshimitsu here for his potential once I learn his moves, and he looks like a lot of fun.

I know cervantes is good, but I havent learned him.

I would rank oprah higher, but I dont have the timing down on 236b4, and I don't want to play a character that I can't play to their full potential. (See alpha trokolos at the end lol)

Raphael was my go to guy in SCII when asta wasn't getting the job done. I havent spent any time with him in SCV, but I've gotten high/low mix'd up by other people with him, so I see his potential.

    Ezio's got them damned projectiles.

Never really liked patrokolos playing through the story, but he's pretty good. With practice could be fun to show out and do flashy backflips and shit.

aeon gets a lot of shit, but I dont think he's that bad

I know algol can be good. I'm just not very good with him yet.

Same with maxi. I want to like him. I just don't know how to play him.

And Zwei. He seems cool. But when I play him EIN never pops out, ever. Admittedly, I don't know what I'm doing with him, but I'd like to go through training mode on him some time.

I'm not bad with Ivy, she should probably be ranked higher. But she's got a lot of moves, I dont know them all, and she's just not really my playstyle

I dont like fighting against leixia, at all. I don't like characters that hit fast but do shit damage. I'd rather hit slow and do big damage. See sieg and asta in my top 3

Hilde herp derp. wat do? I just can't play as her.

I suck dicks with nightmare. I was good with him in previous games. Now when I try to play him it just doesn't work

I would like tira. But I'm not going to play with her cause she won evo, and I'm not going to be a copycat

I still would be her over voldo though. I'm no good with him. I get the hilda/nightmare/voldo brainfart. Naw actually when I play those 3 characters it's worse than brainfart. It's like I brainshitmypants

    Dampier. nuff said

    FUCK VIOLA

    Cant execute him alphatrokolos

Devil Jin not allowed in anywhere, so I'm not going to waste time playing him. In fact, when I face one online I'm just like "damnit. I don't want to fight this, because it's not preparing me for anything, cause he wont be allowed there anyway"

    SUPER WALL OF TEXT YEAHHH

Anyway, hope some people think this will be interesting like I do, and actually reply to this.

@Leshain: nice picture you got there (though I do hate ZWEI as a character, sorry! :P)

I used to be alright with Alpha Patroklos, but I think I finally came to terms with the fact that he doesn't actually have an umbrella, which made me lose all motivation to use him.

Damn I'd be good with Cervantes if I could iGDR consistently, but unfortunately my failed attempts just give my opponents free damage. I'm probably better off with simple characters like Pyrrha Omega.
Also love Viola because her orb seems to mess with people's heads. Though my order is totally dependent on who I fight - if my opponent whiffs a lot, Omega should stand a good chance, but if they play defensively then Viola might get them out of their shell. And I also find most people have weak spots - certain match-ups they aren't used to.

My list would be something like:
    Pyrrha Omega
    Viola
    Pyrrha
    Cervantes
    Patroklos
    aPatroklos
    All other legit characters
    Devil Jin.
This will probably be one of those things where everyone states their own opinion but no one bothers to read what other people had to say...
  4. Lissosaya [06] Combatant

Leixia ~ she's kind of the underdog in this game, but she has a lot of potential, previous xianghua main (not the same though)
    Pyrrha
Viola- I like playing characters who aren't liked lol, and her mixups are awsome. I played Amy in sc4 (again not the same)
    Voldo- I like strange characters
    Hilde
    Tira
Zwei- starting to like his moveset

You don't need to use iGDR to make a good cervantes even if you use iGDR it is a very unsafe move and it doesnt involve a good deal of damage in a string of combos instead of the unsafe version also you can just practice. Don't press 214B together do it in order by letting go each button as you slide your finger and press B (Pyrrha Omega's 236236B JF is harder).

My personal preference as a style is Z.W.E.I he is fun to use especially when you do B+KBE, 66B+K, A+B and B+KBE, 214B, 66A+B and trick people by changing between the two (better to use these combos on knockdown). However i just use pretty much all the chars and like them in their own way.

Yeah, I think I exaggerated a bit, but I don't plan on throwing it out there randomly, only when my opponent whiffs or uses an unsafe enough move within the very generous range that move has. A triple iGDR for 100+ damage all because of a single whiff sounds pretty good to me.

See my post i changed it for more detail. I remember you can do another combo with the iGDR but you don't have to do it three times and you do around the same damage forgot the combo try it out in training (i'll get back to that when i have the time).

Zwei--->A good boy with a really fun moveset. The challenge of not only holding Ein, but to be careful with how you play him is similar to my old main. He's defintely a hard char to use but I'm willing to practice hard and just have fun with this guy. (>^.^)

Raphael--->..... (>V_V) I only use him because of character loyalty since I played this guy from SCII. The guy who designed his SCV moveset needs to be locked in a room full of hungry angry bats. Right now, I hate almost everything about him. Except for his RO quotes.

Nighty/Dumas--->The new Nightmare is hotter not too difficult to learn and I like his two stances. Except when you try to CE someone and Nighty keeps doing Grim Stride by accident. (>P_P)

Mine is Natsu..... because she's fluid offline and also she can cope with lag better. And then there is Elysium... Everything about her is harmonious- image, style and CE. and i just like playing random characters.

Next would be Zwei- and Viola in joint place. I like their movesets because they are original and quirky. And also because you seriously have to be strategic with both and know them well. Which frankly: I don't. And wish that I did.

Finally.... i'm finding Seigfreid, Voldo and Astaroth to be fun to play with offline. I hated them in previous soul caliburs because i couldn't get my head around their moves but now I kinda like them.

lots of love for zwei on the forums... but I dont think I've ever fought a zwei online?
  12. Reave [12] Conqueror

I have been fighting a ton of Zwei players like someone discovered some game changing tech or something.

    My list
Maxi- Been playing the nunchaku user since SoulBlade. His style in 5 is just like I envision a perfect Maxi. Fake openings that I can capitalize on hard and his combos are sick.

Leixia- Pretty much got tired of watching people complain about her so I picked her up and made her work. I love the constant offense that she can put forth and her evasion is great for putting people on blast. She quickly became my favorite female character.

Aeon- Never liked him before 5 but his Wings and Firebreath hooked me. Straight forward powerhouse without relying on grabs a lot and can keep your opponent from running away real easy. Also I love hatemail I get from his monster Ring Out game.

Natsu- She looks more over-the-top which is how they constantly tried to portray Taki in CGI scenes but came up short in the gameplay.

Xiba- I don't play him because my boyfriend mains him but if he didn't I would be all over this character.

Patroklos- Honestly that smug ass look of his keeps me from dropping him although I have been starting to fair a bit better with him.
  13. KittenpasteCo [09] Warrior

My list, in terms of CaS since I rarely touch the real thing.

Pyrrha - She doesn't flow as well as Sophitia, whom I've used since SC on the Dreamcast, did but she's just as easy to use. Her personality is unbearable so I only use her through CaS characters.

Viola - She reminds me somewhat of Talim in her speed (and ending up jumping out of the ring often... *cough*). She's very fun to use when I manage to get a semi-decent combo going. Everything about the style is pretty/elegant while overall unisex. <3

Natsu - Taki was one of my main focuses in 2-4, so Natsu wasn't too big a shift in style.

Xiba - Kilik was hella easy to get insta-wins with before. Xiba is slightly less annoying/OP so his style is quite enjoyable.

Voldo - His style seems much more adaptable this time around - I can actually control what I want him to do. x3

Ivy - The style has great range options but I don't much care for the close-ranged attacks she has. I feel cornered when someone makes it close to me on Ivy without my 'permission'. :p It's fun to punish the naughty ones, though~ She's too simple, now... I had just gotten to learning her various stances and then this... thing came along. :C

Seigfried - He's ridiculously easy to use this time around. I beat players I should never be defeating with this style. He's very boring overall, though. Not as boring as Nightmare, thankfully.

Maxi - He seems much more strategic this time around. Feels like it's easier to get the move out that I wanted to do than in previous games, where I felt like I was always getting him stuck in something. :p

Everyone else, including sexy Aeon, is rather meh. Their styles don't do much for me.

    1. Pyrrha - Just on another level compared to the other characters I use.
    2. Pyrrha Omega - Someone I have to play more carefully with.
    3. Mitsurugi - Can always rely on a good performance from Rugi.
    4. Aeon - Lovely damaging character.
    5. Leixia - Still learning her, but I rarely lose with her for some reason. Fun character.
    6. Raphael - Know him inside out, fun to play with if a bit frustrating at times.
    7. Xiba - Used to be my 2nd best, but he just bores me now.
    8. Nightmare - SO fun to play with, recently learned and he just demolishes.
    9. Elysium - Forces me to learn Hilde. :( Elysium is my most used Char.
    10. Edge Master - Just fun to play as, a good challenge to beat them crappy 'A1s' with him.

Aeon - Such a blast to play in SCV. I could never main him in the older SC games because he just wasn't fun enough to me (not to say he wasn't, though). Although Crawling stance is gone, wings, fire breath, and all of his cool new moves more than make up for it lol. He also does hella damage as was mentioned before, and it's fun removing people's ability to step with 66A and seeing how they adapt to that.

Raphael - My main (on and off) for the past three games, and although he's been kicked into secondary, he's still fun to play. I still haven't bothered to learn how to use Prep stance right but just poking people with his verticals is still so much fun. Easily one of the best anti-masher characters which is really good online lol.

Xiba - Kilik was my other on/off main for the past three games. While I didn't like Xiba at first (he felt too different), he eventually grew on me. It's a lot of fun trolling people with his various lows, and his moveset is simple but solid (a trait I'm a big fan of).

Nightmare - My secondary when the game first came out, but he's dropped off a bit now. SCV's Nightmare is probably the most dynamic and unique he's ever been, and like Aeon he has a bunch of really flashy and cool moves. He's too much work for me to use most of the time, but every now and then I bring him out for fun though.

Astaroth - I've always had a love/hate relationship with grapplers, and Astaroth is no exception. Given that he's the only one in SCV (I used to play Rock) I play him from time to time when I feel like crouch-grabbing people. Also his 0-frame CE is so trolltacular.

Other characters I'm in the process of learning but would say I "play" them are: ZWEI, Viola, Siegfried, and Patroklos.
  16. rurounikenshin [06] Combatant

siegfried: he is very manly and iaga is awesome.
ivy: i like a lot the style but she is my secondary because of the iCS (the most badass grab in history).
natsu: i love ninjas, explosions and her personality.
others i like: Z.W.A.G. (epic werewolf) raph (epic vampire) alpha and normal pat (JUSTICE) viola (ToD combos are really fun) and cervy just to whiff punish with iGDR, although it is kinda hard.
