I wouldn't compare 6632B and 66B, if anything 66B should be competing with 236B. The extra 10 - 20 more damage is relevant. And besides, the move is fine from QS, you are bound to step at some point. 236B is good on hit (and should be used to punish quicker moves), but kills your range if blocked, 66B does more damage, offers the prep trap or resets the distance and leaves you at a good postition. Does anyone still use 3B as a poke? I've been using BB, 22B and 66B more, but 3B seems so unimpressive this time around.
They made it less safe. We don't know how much yet, but I think that's far more important than the 6 damage that was added to it.
No. 22B made Raph playable, now, I'm not so sure. Yes, I use 3B as a poke sometimes if I think it will hit, it has great range for a solid mid, and with Prep BB guaranteed most of the time it hits, the damage isn't terrible.
We'll have to see what happens with Prep. Prep K did get changes, we'll just have to play around with it some. Again maybe some of it was lost in translation. I have no attachment to this character other than I liked playing him, if this winds up being a net nerf I can always force myself to grind out iGDR 100 times a day and try to play Cervy lol. Just not a fan of being right in their face at -12 is all.
I'm just nervous that they'll take the one move, and one stance that made an otherwise worthless character playable and make it totally worthless, especially since I've been playing well in tournaments, I really don't wanna have to try and pick up a new character for Evo, especially considering I've stuck by this one for the last 10 years. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed...
People will mentally now not back-step as much (which means they'll side step more). Get ready to pull out your horizontals gentlemen
you cannot step 66B at close range trust me i m not the only to notice that differently from scIV 66B is great at short range.
How much fun is it to play Raphael? He reeks of style and I like his range. Wouldn't be the first time I chose someone solely for aesthetics...
Well in scV you have to punish a lot on prediction ....and punish always on reaction just to squeeze every possible damage...but with subpar tools. Now we can also control step with laughable damage but well ranged tools...but that will be worse post patch. Also landing lows any chance you can because they deal lot of dmg....(its easy to push opponent into trying to predict 11K just to land a 22B). Funny thing....if you play a decent raph in scV everybody will respect you....and you'll receive tons of lovemails online and congratulations offline...รน Said that consider you are using a bottom tier and you will happen to lose even against scrubs if you are not focused.
patch is out (netherlands). this is terrible, no joke. 22b, 3b does not connect anymore... i don't see any other moves hitting either :/ edit: 2b connects, 1b also, very strict (44dmg) on the stun for prep bbb, you only get it when the last hit CH's, not the first. the only thing you get out of that is CE. a+ba 1st hit (sometimes 2nd) whiffs
He's definitely fun, and he's very fast for his range. The pleasure of playing Raph is out-thinking opponents in such a way that you can continuously maintain advantage and keep them on the defensive. His step-killing is pretty laughable though. He has moves that can hit step, sure, but he has a hard time dissuading it. Hahahahahaha fuck
Hey can you give us new combo data and see how punishable 22B is now though ? combos after prepK doable ? 4(B)~prepBBB comboable further ?
prep k -dash in a+ba (60) strict, 66a+b will whiff -ce (90) -a+ba (57) near wall only, 2nd hit of a+b whiffs otherwise -66a+b (43) near wall only 4B~bbb -1b (59) strict -2b (55) -a+ba (70) near wall only -ce (88) 22b -a+ba (64) near wall only, if wall is off axis and opponant slides away, it'll still whiff *3a doesn't connect near walls, 3b neither *everything just barely misses which ofcourse leads to oki things, 66a+b/g-cancel, etc but without 22b, i don't see which tools raph has to compete with the dmg output of the rest of the cast. *22b is still -10 on block. raph = even higher risk, even lower reward now imho.
I don't see how his risk is higher, just that his reward is lower. 22B has been dethroned as an "alpha pat" level move. What bothers me is that even 3A wont' connect after (no dirty wall splat combos) in your list. I hope this is a minor oversight. 4B~prepBBB 2B basically does the same damage as prepatch without the last hit lol. PrepK is the most interesting, because prepKBE always exists kinda like how prepBB BE kinda always overshadows prepBBB good stuff btw ngk once again you're first to report useful shit
i hope you guys are more inventive than me and fine new stuff soon, because i already caught myself hovering over siegfried when starting a new match.. brrrr :(
OMG, i just test " the new " Raph fucked up, 22_88B sucks now. So... no whiff punisher or solid side step punisher anymore ( i mean launcher )
it would be really interesting asking namco how they think raph should be played....and the reason of the nerfs 6BBB is actually a camouflaged nerf also it seems. i think as they told reason behind tira's nerfs they should give some for raph.....maybe there were thing we still ignore that makes raph awesome (well cannot lie they plain hate raph...the nerf tradition still goes on).
leixia's wrB BE got nerfed darkfender so can you please be a nice guy from now on ?? prepatch CH 6BBB > post patch 6BBB. However, if you got CH and meter, you could always 6BB BE Alternatively after a 4B~prepBBB , post patch > pre patch.
