SO, What ethnicity are you?

I'm white. My great grandma married and had kids with a french dude (true story). Sooo... what does that make me? 2% French?

Yeah for the "Ethniticity" and " Culture" mixups just read the thread from page 1. I stated my mistake.

Yes there should be an "other" option. I never knew that the ethniticities in america were so diverse. I also agree with my history teacher saying that "in 500 years we will all be tan"

I found out that in America "Middle Eastern" is classified as "white" but since i address middle eastern as its own ethniticity because it is, it is therefore "middle eastern"

I already know the relation of russians and turkish/Assyrian/ etc.

Most european cultures will be addressed in the "white" category because 1. there is too many of them and 2. American society was at first mostly european and a diversity of european cultures. The "white" category is actually over a century old in america for thse same reasons.

The poll categories are not specific ethniticities...they are relative ethniticities
I do not feel like putting over 19 different kinds of "Asian" ethnics. Along with 2 extra slots of "Japanese" and "Chinese"

Spanish is ethier european or latino depending on how you view it. To be exact the hispanic culture is actually a mix of
native american and spaniard. (hence the spanish being available in the latino/hispanic category)
To be even more specific most people say spanirads were influenced by the roman and greek cutlures but others think the french and italian ethnics have made them up. Also the spaniard were in control of the latin americas (hence the term latino in the same category)

Egyptians are classified as middle eastern. they just are in this era. i heard a kid in my class calling my egyptian friend black......he then yelled at him and cursed at him. Of course i see the reason why of them being called "black". (Egypt is very close to africa)

I reaally do not want to discuss this. I was actually trying to avoids things like this in order to avoid this thread being full of racism and politics......

um, it is mainly focusing on ethniticiy. Its confusing because my language acknowledges ethniticity and cutlure as the same thing but apparantly its different here. I was going for your race.
