omega dr the best player in the world, omega dr does it again, who can defeat omega ?
the best nightmare congratulations my bro. and dominican republic we know how to
play fighting game and omega dr is showing to everybody his level.

So many things.....First off Omega has heart. People wanna say skill and shit. But sometimes it's about who wanted it more, and Omega showed his heart and how tough he was mentally to bounce back after the reset. Yes there was skill, but Omega won the physical and mental part of this grand final. Omega has a never say die attitude I love it. Same goes for Akire. Akire is special. This man didn't stop. He wanted to win, no matter who was in his way. He rip apart our top players, hyrui, and his buddy. He was so fucking hungry. He wanted that championship. The guy never quits.

    Now onto my disappointments.....

    -Japan( 1/2)

What do I mean? It seems only half of Japan came to play some SC5 and his name was Toilet. He knew his character front and back. He also knew how to overcome Zwei's shortcomings. And that double CE combo was so fucking awesome and epic. It was crazy. This man is dangerous. He might have went 0-2, but he'll be back. Be ready america. He has a ton of heart and knowledge. Nasty combination if ya ask me.

SHK, on the other hand, had the knowledge but no energy...It seems after getting a round on RTD, he shut down. I don't understand what happen. That's why a lot of professional teams like energy players. They need someone or somebody to do a 180.

    -Hyrui and NFK

These guys played well, but I feel jumping around from character to character hurts you in the long run. Hyrui must have confused himself. The man had to pull himself out of hell just to get the W with Lexia. Even though he mains Tira. Look, I wanna win too, but how doing it with your main? I mean I understand match ups and etc. because good players should be able to overcome the obstacles that face them. NFK did this as well. The switch to NM for no reason didn't make sen to me. It's like...something. I don't know...but I just didn't like the move to NM. But what I'm trying to get at is that these guys were label to be good with a certain character and such are off cping like crazy just to win one match. I understand why, but I felt they cp themselves into a wall. If you're going to Cp. Keep it to just one sub character. Sometimes it's better to pick for a change of pace instead of getting match up adv. Omega did right.

    That's it for negatives.

    -France

I love trolling the French. I'm going to plan a trip there, and rep America with my Algolness and low tierness. Since they are happy to invite me to their country. I need to break out a book and start writing some French jokes and make references to French cartoons. Hell, I might get Kayane to cosplay Madeline.:D I got plans in France and back and support the second greatest fighting game ever made: MK9. When yo bash Mk9, you get a beef, steak, and a good talkin' to why MK9 is great. Lastly, those fuckers think I play Marvel of all games. What assholes!! Anyone that knows me on an average level knows I'm a free win in Marvel. So France thinks all Americans play Marvel? Aw....hell naw!!! I'm not going to group with a bunch of lazy assholes that abuse Mr. Whisker.

All in all, it was an awesome tourney and the France do very well and show that two France players is deadlier compare to one. France is scary, but I'm up to the challenge.

Man, you would not survive in a tournament thread on Teamliquid.

Yeah I don't truck with PC bitch gamers. You don't survive them, you suffer them.

    -Nightmare wins another tourney
    -Mitsurugi takes second
    -Nightmare ALSO takes third

This went about as i expected.

i was disappointed in the way Leixia was handled though. i guess i watch Kayane too much. Leixia excels at pressure and has a great mix up strategy but i didn't see any of that.

but this tourney in my opinion was better than the super bowl. i hadn't been this hyped about a competition since my first and only tourny i've been to so far.

quite pleased with how the tourney went, congrats to omega and all the placers, I hope we get zas now thx to that brilliant plug at the end, and congrats to nfk as xeph put it for putting westcoast back on the map, we may be outnumbered but not outskilled

as a side note, I was fairly disappointed with the commentary, it was full of hype sure, but it lacked substance, im all for hype, but can we actually get some discussion of the game? can we get more than just continual stating of the obvious? can we get actual soul calibur players to commentate? can we get soul calibur players to commentate tekken tag 2 world finals now?

Well, it does seem I overestimated Japan in the end.
Toilet is a great player, but his perfomance was way below what I used to see on his home streams.
Just to make it clear, both Toilet and SHK did not win respective Qualifiers. Plasma(sieg) and Arutenight(Natsu) won, but couldnt go.
Best players in Japan so far it seems Oosaka, Decapon, Dusk0Naka.

So I dont think we've seen the best of Japan yet, but of course we've (or at least I) overrated them, I honestly though it'd be a cakewalk for Toilet.
I do hope to see a good representation of international players at EVO and/or Cannes 2k13.

Wow....so they filled in for those two? Crazy man....I got a feeling Japan will be back as well. I know the game is far from Kuso or whatever they call in Japan.

I updated the OP with some additional information.

I just want to say congrats to all of the placers and to Namco and its sponsors for putting on this event.

I would also avoid making any judgments on a country's skill level based on the performance of a couple of individuals, especially with the recent changes to the game itself and how early we're still are in this game's life cycle. EVO or Cannes should be a better indicator.

Props and Congratz to Namco, the Top 8, and of course Akire and Omega.

If you're new to Soul Calibur, then this is a Surprising result, and are still trying to figure out whose High and Low Tier between Sieg and NM.

If you were around and played SC3 during Nationals (which is about 10% of you), you would have already known Omega is the Best in the World.

He won SC3 NATS with ZAS, and beat Thugs X with Mitsu (the Other SC3 Champ).

He went top 6 at Evo with ZAS, only losing to Hilde RO.

He wins Final Round (256 Entrants, $5000+) with NightMare. He wins the World Championship with NM and Sieg, against probably his hardest opponents yet.

Imagine if lived up to his original name, and used Mitsurugi. GGs Norman.

SIEG IS TOP TIER!!! OMEGA YOU TIER WHORE

Rob and Noface, sad to see you go down. You guys are gonna bring it back at Evo I hope.

Omega... you're just the fucking man. Nothing else needs to be said... if you didn't bother with Zas in SC4 you mighta been world champ from 3-5. Congrats!

Omega outplayed everyone, he closest match was vs Toilet and because he set up R1 as A+B+K instead of R2 as he usually does. Anyhow he showed EVERYONE! that is not the character is the player, he could easly win tournaments with Le Bello if he wants.

Omega you are without doubt the best player in the world. Latin Power!

And congratulations to the demonic OmegaDR. You are a bad man!
