Soulcalibur Lost Swords Available Now!

  • Admin
Playstation blogs has revealed that the new Soulcalibur Lost Swords game (PS3 only) will be available this Wednesday in all countries for download. If we base our assumptions on the Japanese version that was released in February, we can conclude how exactly the game will be played.

Here is the trailer for those who have not seen it yet.
Lost Swords is a free-to-play, single-player game that is similar to the weapon master mode of Soulcalibur II. The objective is to complete various missions in order to gain new items and characters. Although it is a free-to-play spin off, those who were a fan of this mode should find themselves having a great time. When compared to Soulcalibur V, Lost Swords has removed ring outs and Just Guards from the game, while returning meterless Guard Impacts. There are a few other combat mechanics in Lost Swords such as assist characters, "weapon arts" moves, and a rock-paper-scissors element system for your weapons and armor.

Returning characters that have been confirmed so far for this game are Siegfried, Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Astaroth, Nightmare, Pyrrha, Ivy, Hilde, and Taki. The character roster has not been finalized yet, so hold on to your seats. There will be periodic releases of new missions in order get more characters. Producer Masaki Hoshino has also hinted at the return of Amy and Seung Mina on his twitter account, but there are no official trailers for them at this time.

Once again, the game is free to download so everyone that owns a PS3 should take a look at it. I will definitely be downloading it because of the fun times I had with the beta version. Which characters will you all be playing in Lost Swords? Any other characters that you are hoping to see return?

WHENS SOULCALIBUR VI
There is CAS in this game? I saw CAS in the trailers but don't know if you can actually make a CAS or is only for shown.
You can only play as the unique characters and start out naked. You can randomly unlock CAS items that can be upgraded statwise, however, unless you spend a lot of time unlocking a large variety of items your character will look like a retard who dresses themselves for a large duration of your playtime. Can't manually color items either.

So no creation aspect at all... Just hodge-podge the random CAS items you're given.

what's the point of even playing a single player only fighting game? the ftg gameplay just isn't meant for single player only.

Same reason why people enjoy playing Weapon Master mode. There's alot of people that don't care about multiplayer and why they dislike SCV because it didn't offer enough single player modes.

So here you go.

Can someone with some insight explain why they made this game? I mean, what is namcos gain from releasing this on ps3?

my gripe is that they don't offer both at the same time. having a ftg system and not able to use it in an actual vs ftg setting is sad, but it's also weird if there are no back story to give characters context. fighting game just isn't the same without both single and vs modes.

I have the same gripe, but it is what it is at this point.

I'll try to get whatever entertainment value from Lost Swords that I can while playing SCV.

As an SC player, I enjoy both single player and multiplayer modes. I love Weapon Master Mode and the story just as much as I love playing matches with people here (if anyone is willing) or in the Competitive Soulcalibur Group on Facebook. Overall, I love the best of both worlds.
