~ Welcome to the Voldo forum Q&A/General Discussion thread! ~

This is the place to discuss/ask about anything related to Voldo gameplay (combos, frame data, etc...).
Everything except story talk (go here for that) is fair game here.

Unfortunately I don't really have any to offer, but more or less a question to propose.
With characters like omega-pyrrah and voldo there is a stance associated with CQF/236.
This also happens to be the input for the CE. I find myself frequently going into the stance instead of the CE.
My question is: For characters like these are CE strictly buffer inputs?
Meaning, if I do BB and during the recovery frame buffer the 236236A+B+K CE input, is this the only practical way?

One thing that I've noticed with doing the CE for Voldo is that you have to be precise with the input. You cannot be sloppy. You can only input 236236. Something like 4123641236 will not work. The reason for this is because when you go into CR with Voldo, you can do a retreating CR by inputting 1 during CR. This use to be called Rat Chaser since you could do 1~3~1~3 indefinitely, making it a stance of it's own. I've noticed that when you go into the retreating and advancing form of CR, you cannot get CE to come out ever. So only input 236236. You can also just input 2626 and get CE too. This might help make it more consistent.

You can also hold G when you input the motions and it'll keep you out of stance, but you have to let go of G before you hit the A+B+K.

Really? I was not aware of that, thanks for the tip!

    2323 is also an option.

hi, is it just me or is voldo freaking slow? i have no idea how to handle pressure in close combat against all those natsus and leixias and maxis and so on. dose voldo have any move that is kinda fast and tracks? i dont want to drop him, but most of the time i just have no chance against heavy pressure game. 22_88 A would be awesome if it would just have the 3A or 33_99A input. the problem is also, even if you manage to block their strings or launcher, voldos punishment sucks hard. maybe i am missing something, any advice would be nice

I feel the same way. Playing with top players is like trying to bust through the wall using head :/ I encourage you people to write to daishi because they are working on readjustments right now.

Seriously? If I can do 2626 or 2323, then why won't it come out when I do 23623, heh. That just seems cruel

Mostly a Maxi problem but I see it occasionally in other odd situations. On Maxi it's consistent though. Set him to crouch guard in practice mode. At absolute point blank range BS 66B will miss him. Also 2 out of 3 times a regular BB will pass through him. I learned this the hard way when my friend hit me during a MC B+K and the BBB auto counter went right through him while he crouched.

It's not mostly a Maxi problem, it's mostly a Voldo problem. Whiffing B's on crouching ( and even standing) opponents is par for the course. Even the most minute of axis shifts causes the first B of his B,B's to whiff. Or, the B from BS B.
  9. Manta [10] Knight

I heard Daishi's taking feedback for changes ~ or something. We need to voice our concerns ~ We lost our quick moves from sc4, and even our most basic moves whiff at point blank. I hope it's looked at.

BS 3B in this game would be huge, along with CR cancels. It feels like there's a huge gap in Voldo's BS game without BS 3B. I mean, BS 6BB can somewhat cover it, but it's nowhere near the threat that a CH BS 3B was.

My main problem with Voldo is when I'm under pressure. The fact that voldo can't block AND stay in blindstance is a problem for us because our main strength is BS. So what, for you, what are the best way to enter in BS when Voldo is near his opponment who press continually safe moves.

We can extend this topic to the best way in each situation to enter in BS for Voldo.
  12. Soul [11] Champion

Well for me,the easiest way to switch to BS,is either 1A or 4A.Then what i usually do is A2 then WR B "it usually works for me",then i try to go as far from the opponent as possible.
  13. PigBenis [08] Mercenary

I don't know what is the fastest way but after 1 hour of training I love 2 (can give an easy grab because Voldo move forward while and can chain with a second 2B to punish button masher) and 1K (evade highs and one of our best combo starter). But maybe 4A is faster, I don't know where to find frame data to be sure.

Maybe I miss something better, it's not easy to find pro Voldo player videos in real battle to see what they use against a Natsu button masher.
  14. D.I.N.O [11] Champion

I'm the Pro Voldo you're looking for.

However the trick is not to go into Blind Stance. The trick is to treat all your stances as equals, and transition through them swiftly, almost like Maxi.

    I actually prefer being forward.
  15. Punchdrunk [06] Combatant

    What about hidden moves?

I was hit out of Death Roll and some mashing made an Edge attack come out that looked just like the A-part of his BS 8K,A.

Haven't been able to recreate, but I was testing 8A into follow ups against a dummy set to one-block-counter and ate a 3B. Flat on the ground, coming out of hitstun, BAM! bouncing up, scissoring his arms, lightshow and everything.
  16. JayShadow [12] Conqueror

Both Deathroll B+K and MC B+K can absorb 1 non-stab vertical, and it will trigger an automatic follow up. MC B+K counters with a standing BBB, and Deathroll B+K follows up with the unblockable you describe. When it triggers he glows red. Unfortunately getting hit again will stop it, and the wind-up takes forever for those moves. Also the unblockable is only gonna hit people near his head so if it gets triggered while he's facing away or at their side it's gonna miss.

Mitsu and Astaroth also have hit absorbing moves, but in their case they continue with the move they were doing. Nightmare and Tira have absorbing moves that prime them for a follow up counter.

I wrote 2 messages so it will be great if all of you V players do the same, he cant be bother all the time by one person because its just lame begging. :D Twitter messages arent long enough but i think it the best way to get Daishi informed.
