Namco Bandai has recently released a Lost Swords tribute video with the game's accolades. This video is closer to being a slideshow than a trailer, but that isn't what we all really care about.
The 2 million downloads is fantastic, but most North Americans don't actually want to play Lost Swords and are yearning for a traditional Soulcalibur game. Now that we have gotten the boring stuff out of the way, let's talk about the juicy parts of the news!
Project Soul announced yesterday that Leixia will be joining the list of playable characters in Lost Swords. If you're one of the happy few still playing Lost Swords; this should make you even more happy.
We don't get a lot of SOULCALIBUR news these days. Project Soul is currently putting all of it's efforts into its recent free-to-play single-player title.
So for now, in the meantime; while we wait ever-patiently for signs of SOULCALIBUR VI, we'll have to settle for costume pack trailers for Lost Swords. This month's trailer has the upcoming "Magic Knight" pack, designed by manga artist Yamatogawa... yeah... looks nice.
Playstation blogs has revealed that the new Soulcalibur Lost Swords game (PS3 only) will be available this Wednesday in all countries for download. If we base our assumptions on the Japanese version that was released in February, we can conclude how exactly the game will be played.

Soulcalibur: Lost Swords has finally been given a release date! According to EGM, the release date for Soulcalibur: Lost Swords in Europe and Australia is Spring 2014, however no date has been mentioned for North America. The game launched in Japan today so if you are desperate to get your hands on the game then make a JPN account and get downloading! No other information has been released yet.
Update: Release date for all regions confirmed for the end of April.
With Christmas around the corner, it has become obvious to anyone that the release for Lost Swords has slipped into 2014. Initially slated for release before the end of 2013, Namco-Bandai has just confirmed that the game will not get an official release till next year. Project Soul has pushed the game back in order to provide a higher quality game to it's fans.
With the bad news however, is some good news. Three new characters have been added to the roster. In addition to the previously announced Mitsurugi, Siegfried and Sophitia; Astaroth, Nightmare and Pyrrha will also be playable upon the game's release. Namco-Bandai recently announced an upcoming domestic beta test for Soulcalibur Lost Swords; which is scheduled to be released sometime by the end of the year. In case you forgot, Lost Swords is a single-player only fighting game; so chances are you may not be interested in this little title. However, the game will be free on PSN when it launches soon.
The beta test will be available between November 14 to 18. In the beta test, players will be able to test out a small portion of "Quest Mode" with Sophitia, Siegfried and Mitsurugi. In addition, players will have access to character creation and the shop. In order to try out the beta, you will simply need to download the 4gb trial when it becomes available on the Playstation Network. More information after the break [...]
UPDATE: Namco-Bandai has informed us that this "domestic" beta test is for Japan only. A Japanese PSN account will be required to download the beta. There are no plans to bring the beta test to other territories.
