Another year, another E3. Another year where we wait for an announcement at E3. While previous years we've been grasping at straws, I think this year we could actually get some sort of hints of a new release. Allow me to explain why I think you guys should get your hopes up and why I think Namco has yet to abandon the series...
Firstly, depending on which game (Soul Edge or Soulcalibur), and which release you are talking about (arcade or console), we're right in the middle of what could be considered the 20th anniversary for the series. This can be seen with the the activity on the Official Soulcalibur Facebook all last year celebrating the 20th anniversary. If Namco had indeed abandoned the series, why spend the effort to conduct polls and keep readership alive on Facebook; a platform which companies primarily use for marketing.
But you may be asking: why have we been waiting 5 years? Traditionally, we get a new numbered...
As we all know, Project Soul recently held a poll on the official Soulcalibur Facebook page asking which characters were your favorite ones, the list consisting of all playable characters throughout the series (not including bonus characters that were playable in Soulcalibur III and IV). Well, the poll has now closed and the results have been posted on the Facebook page for everyone to see! It has been speculated that this could influence the roster for a potential Soulcalibur VI so let's hope that Project Soul can revive some of those old souls for us.
The "older" characters of the Soulcalibur roster have seemingly dominated the top spots whilst the new breeds have filled up the bottom half of the table suggesting that people are craving for the returns of those who did not make the Soulcalibur V roster such as Talim, Zasalamel and Sophitia.
Early this morning, the SoulCalibur Facebook page opened a poll to see who are the fan favorite characters in the series. The list seemed to have every playable SoulCalibur character in the list to choose from. The only ones I didn't see when I was skimming were the bonus characters introduced in SCIII and SCIV.
Considering that the vote includes Lost Swords character, then it is safe to say that this is for a future SoulCalibur VI character roster. Please note that this is not a confirmation for a SoulCalibur VI. It is only speculation on my part. If you would like to have your voice to be heard, then you should get on your Facebook account and follow the directions in the spoiler below.
Hey guys. So, after looking at all the updates and releases they have been doing for Tekken, DOA, SF, Smash, Lost Swords, etc, I figured that it's about time WE (the main SCV make) get something as well. They have time to create swimsuits and thongs for Pyrrha, they should have time to put DLC characters or patches as well.
With that said, I would like to get the entirety of what's known as the Soulcalibur community and tweet to @hoshino_calibur, @Harada_TEKKEN, @JKartje or Namco for a patch, update, or DLC to the mainstream game. We deserve some support as well. I know the French, German, and Japanese community are willing to support this too once this "movement" gets started. You can tweet for a whole new game if you want, the point of this is to speak up for something, unless you're all ok with letting Lost Swords have everything.
Namco can ignore a few people, even a handful, but they can't ignore an entire community across countries reaching out to them for this. Will you...
