Soul Calibur 5 - New Character Creation Mode Gameplay!

I noticed that ALL of the gear is equipable regardless of whether the Soul is male or Female. I think this is an improvement. Though I'll stick to the gender-typical attire, I found it frustrating in IV that some of the best armor was only equipable on the ladies. Also I noticed elf ears in an earlier video. Nice. It appears that we will have the option to Create Souls as big as Astaroth and perhaps as small as Yoda. Face and voice options are still a bit underwhelming but there is always DLC and the upper blocks werent shown, probably stock faces of the main characters.

Not exactly. The video cuts that part off. The announcer will say "Soul of [insert character name]".
 
I would have prefered a short list of things for the announcer to call the character (like the various "classes" in 3, but not linked to weapon), but it's not a big thing.
 
One interesting note:

Hoods are now a part of the neck category:

Well I guess it means we can have helmets under hoods if nothing else. Didn't SC3 have some cloaks with hoods (which replaced the helemt or only appeared with no helmet, forget) alreddy though?

Notice a lack of lower legs option. Hopefully male only (there was only like... 3 options for that space for men in 3)

Soul Calibur III's hoods were all a part of the head category, so no.



EDIT:

Taking some screens of the vid that show new and interesting stuff.

There are at least 4 (woohoo?) new male faces, they can be seen squared in red. The rest are from SCIV.

I highly doubt they would show them all at this point though.

Here are the new face equipment pieces I noticed (I didn't square the glasses because I can't tell from the preview model):
 
Ok, a Male CAS using Viola's style sure is kinda creepy XD...anyways, thanks for posting the vid up. I'd like to see them browsing through more of the clothes, though =(...But oh well.

Agreed 100%. this is very disappointing. Time to bust out the masks.

As for the video. im having mixed feelings about Character Creation now. at least Viola on a Male character doesn't look as fruity as i first thought... this is good.

O_O OMG! TY SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME THIS! Hyper Meter is through the rough now, FINALLY don't need to hide behind a mask in utter shame!

That's exactly what I said. In all the videos, they only choose items that didnt require scrolling past 4 boxes. I guess they want to show us what Creation can do, but don't want to give out all the items we could use.
 
I'm pretty happy with the four new faces. I will settle for it seeing as a face editor is out of the question now.
Yes! A full (good) face mask! Finally! I'm happy to see small pieces of jewellery as well, nice touch. :)

But those pants clip horrendously ^^; I hope that isn't permanent?

Well, why not ^^ Tira's 2p hairstyle had dual tones which was fun to play around with but I hate having to use bowl cuts for that... I can only hope we see a few like that.
 
not to mention this also shows that Viola gets a skull, I assume as her joke weapon, and what appears to be soul edge as her "powerful weapon"

I wouldn't consider the skull a joke weapon. She'll probably get more than just color variations to her orb, seeing as that seems to be fully editable now. And I doubt they'd be showing off either joke weapons or Soul Calibur/Edge weapons in pre-release footage.

well I would considering its a completely different object, and the orb after it is colored perfectly, and its not like viola is giving off that nice character vibe. I think it would be interesting however if she got the soul edge orb, and a soul calibur claw.

But I also think the effect the orb has inside it is different in each option, if you notice the blue one seems different inside as opposed to the original.

Those are all ugly old men though. Quanity doesn't = variety ironically.
I hope atleast Maxi's face is aviliable, personally hes the best looking male. No homo.
