Tekken Hybrid

Metallix

[10] Knight
A friend from our local SC4 league brought Tekken Hybrid for us to see. From what I saw and remember a couple of weeks ago. The game has these features:

Tekken Hybrid
Tekken Tag (Remastered)
(Preview of) Tekken Tag 2
Tekken 3D movie (will edit this once I find out the name of the film)
Tekken Hybrid art book (if you got the CE of this)
Tekken Hybrid OST

I was curious to hear players opinions and ratings on this new game.

I bought it pretty much exclusively for Tekken Tag HD. I was unfortunate enough to buy a PS3 after they phased backwards compatibility out so it was one of my only options to play it. Tekken Tag 2s demo was a nice bonus but that game already makes my head hurt. As far as the movie, I didn't watch it and most likely never will.

Tekken Tag HD actually looks pretty damn good for how old it is. Solid 1080p 60 frames and the character models look great at all times. You'll notice backgrounds that got a little less love for sure though. All FMVs in the game are rendered in the old PS2's native resolution (and 4:3 at that). Nothing that honestly detracts from how solid the game is and how well they updated it. And yes, Tekken Bowl is still rad as fuck.

Tekken Tag 2's demo includes four characters (Devil Jin, Devil Kaz, Xiaoyu, and Alisa), four stages, a five stage arcade mode, and a model viewer. There are trophies to acquire such as beating arcade mode fifteen times but I don't think anyone actually cares. The new tag system is really really confusing but fun to use if you can get the muscle memory down and the whole basic concept. I don't know if the demo sold me on TTT2 as much as drove me away from how much they injected into the game to make it more difficult. Also, the new Devil designs are fucking awful.

I was fortunate enough to play Tag 2 via hybrid at an offline session in Birmingham last weekend:
First of all, DVJ and DVK are both designed to look like they do in the movie that comes with it, but you can play them in more conventional attire. Secondly, the tag system, contrary to the above post - which I completely disagree with is very easy to understand, user friendly and adds new depth to the game. After a few games, I had no problem whatsoever in handling the new system and the game itself is a dramatic improvement from BR, though DR will take some beating imho. As for gameplay, movement has been fixed FINALLY - honestly, the system is a total dream, really liked it. Overall, the game adds more depth without difficulty (It rewards you for thinking I guess) and plays in a much better way, totally hyped for TTT2 now. =D

I am so excited about this game! I so hope I get it for a Christmas gift this year. :D My local league might do TTT2 tourneys once folks get copies of the game. Are there any confirmations of the roster lineup for TTT2?

This is a look at the character select.

And I just found out that the Devil designs are exclusive to the demo (thank god). I'm sure once I get used to the tag crash/tag assault system I'll warm to it. I haven't played Tekken in a tournament setting since Tekken 4: Laser Scraper Edition so the whole bound system is new to me.

The above quoted comments I totally hold agreement to. About the movie though, I predict I probably will watch it a couple of times (in Japanese dub/English sub)... and then forget about it.

Anyone caught that glitch on TTT2 Prolouge? (*_*) --> (^\/^)

From what I saw the video there, read on both Tekken wiki and the Japanese site for TT2.

What I am happy about TT2:
+ Heihachi Mishima
+ Jun Kazama
+ Kazuya Michima
+ Jin Kazama
+ Asuka Kazama
+ Lars Alexandersson
+ Paul Phoenix
+ Nina Williams
+ Hwoarang
+ Lee Chaolan
+ Armor King II
+ King II
+ Christie Monteiro
+ Devil
+ Devil Jin
+ Jaycee
+ Leo Kliesen
+ Roger Jr.
+ Steve Fox
+ Unknown
+ Zafina

I'm happy that the whole Kazama family is going to avialable in this game. :) I always wanted to try again Jin's folks/Asuka's uncle/aunt as a team. Or Mother/Son team or Aunt/Niece team. Everyone else I played in TTT1 and in Tekken series.

I do love the music in TTT2. :)

Yes indeed thank god that the look of Devil Jin in the demo wasn't going to be in the finished game. Otherwise I would have bitched out the Tekken staff for that (in addition to above).

Not happy still with this game:
- Kunimitsu
- Angel
- Violet
- King I
- Armor King I
- Alex
- Roger Sr.
- Gon

I am sick and tired of the playahate against Kunimitsu since T4. She has not made an appearance since the TTT1 game. Put her back in the damn game! You've had other past characters make 1-3 returns back into the game. Why not her too?! >:(

What else I'm not happy with is no Violet (even through we know who he is), Angel (you have Devil and Devil Jin return, why not Angel too), King I, Armor King I (I would have loved to played again those two vs. King II/Armor King II), Alex, Roger Sr., Gon. I miss the team-up of Roger Sr./Alex. Gon was just cute and funny to play with for a laugh. What is Tekken without it's animal fighter characters?

I did wish they would have redone TTT1 in the current style of that T6 is. I think the game would have been too sweet redone in those graphics! Come on Namco! Capcom redid SSF2T in HD with Udon's art style. You could have done the same thing too with TTT1 game.

I got for Metallix (after my 3rd try at it) Tekken Hybrid (Standard Edition) for Christmas. I didn't see where they had still copies of the game and have enough to get her the Limited Edition that was at GameStop (nearby Target on the West Side). When either I can free up HD space or when she gets her own PS3 I will try this game. I never had a chance to play the Tekken Tag Tournament game when it was out in the arcade (due to my work hours). If I did I think my team might have been this:

Tekken Tag Tournament
Ling Xiaoyu and Michelle Chang or Julia Chang or Panda

For Tekken Tag Tournament 2, I might try this team. Considaring that these are the two characters that I've played casually in the series.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Ling Xiaoyu and Alisa Bosconovitch

Namco does not own the rights to Gon. he was a guest character, much like the star wars characters in sc4. That's why we don't see him again.

HIISS...BOOO!!! >:(

They should have him come back, he was fun to play for SAG's with the other animal characters!

Who do you plan to play in TTT2?

How about everyone else, do you know who your team is going to be?

I'm sure they would love to, licensing is another issue entirely. since they don't own the rights to Gon, it just won't work.

I play as Hwoarang and King in TTT2. i sub xiaoyu in every once in a while, but my mains are them two dudes.

Who has the rights to Gon anyway? Cool team lineup there. :) Here is my team lineups.

My possible teams in TTT2:
1. Jun Kazama/Asuka Kazama
2. Jun Kazama/Kazuya Michima
3. Jun Kazama/Jin Kazama
4. Asuka Kazama/Jin Kazama
5. Lars Alexandersson/Asuka Kazama
6. Jin Kazama/Lars Alexandersson
7. Unknown/Jun Kazama
8. Paul Phoenix/Heihachi Michima
9. Paul Phoenix/Nina Williams
10. Hwoarang/Lee Chaolan
11. King II/Armor King II
12. Christie Monteiro/Asuka Kazama
13. Christie Monteiro/Leo Kliesen
14. Jaycee/Zafina
15. Devil/Devil Jin
16. Nina Williams/Steve Fox
