where is the bigger online community? (xbl or psn)

Fanboys? Not sure why console wars showed up in here. Fighters aren't inherently better on either console. Xbox has more wired connections, cross game chat, custom soundtracks, et al. PS3 has the arguably superior pad and if you don't already have xbox live gold, your only free option for online play. It comes down to pad preference and whether xbox features are appealing. Quality of players should be consistent.

Watched Justin Wong's stream and it was solid. He made several comments about how good the netcode was and it looked very good. Markman was pulling off some interesting stuff on it.

EDIT: they were on Live.
don't forget though that this was prior to everyone else being on. One the game is fully released the online capabilities may change. None of the servers crashed/overloaded because very few people are actually online right now...and no one has made comments yet about the PSN stuff. Personally I don't think we can take any news about netcode and online capabilities at full value until the game is fully released and we can see how the online is with a half a million+ people online.

I'll add my two cents in.
Since you have both systems, there really is no need to give you personalized selling points on either system. You've played on both of them, you know what they are like. So my only recommendation is to play on the system that you know your friends are going to play. I think you are going to get around the same experience from both. If you are still indecisive, then just pick the PS3 one. Since you use it to play Tekken on it, you might as well make it your Fighting Game Console.

I wish more 8wayrunners played on XBL :/

I think the Quantity vs Quality argument is very valid. Finding good lobbies on XBL is like a needle in a haystack, not to mention the quality of people >_>...If I had the $$$ I'd definitely switch on over to PSN, just my 2 cents.

consider also that most are referring to USA i don t know where you are from but talking about europe things are exactly the opposite:

- less players on XBL (i'd say really a lot less)
-higher quality on XBL

Well, I'll be on the PSN network.

I canceled my XBL live account because I wasn't using it... and that was possibly one of the most annoying phone calls (can only cancel via phone) I have ever had. I rather call Verizon and argue with someone about the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars.

ejem, i have a gaming pc and i would never buy a fighting game for my pc its not the same

i have both the ps3 and the xbox (well, the xbox isnt mine, its my brothers but its in my room and i use it all the time) I say go for ps3, free online ,less anoying kids, have you ever played halo? omg so much muting i have to do when i play, overall xbox live has more players cuz more people own xbox than ps3, but ive seen a lot of people from this comunity playing in psn, i remember when they use to slaughter me but then i learned how to play better and even with (acording to this comunity) "low tier" yun seong i pulled off a couple of wins lol anyway i say ps3, its free, and IMO i dont think paying to access half of your game disc that you payed full price for is better than a free online especially when the PC version of xbox live is free, and i really dont notice any diference lag wise when playing ps3 or xbox but both are fine

sega dreamcast, first ever online gaming console and still the best

I prefer 360. I bought Soul Calibur IV on psn and, every match I had seemed to be hella laggy. I experienced lag problems on live to but, not as bad as the matches on psn

I on the other hand have experienced quite the opposite when it came it online. I am mainly a PSN player because for some reason Xbox has the tendency to lag alot more than PS3 for me. PS3 seems to also have alot more active users playing the game than Xbox (this may be due to not knowing almost everyone worth playing on Xbox). The quality factor is the same as most already said. PSN has better quality players running around.

I'll probably be playing PS3 due to the preferred pad, but if you want to play me on Xbox since I per-ordered both, just send me a PM.

Interesting, i was always under the impression that the systems were rather balanced here in europe. Is it really different for SC? I don't really have a choice, since i only own a PS3, but it would be interesting to know if there is a system the "top" european communities like the french or the brits prefer.

I can talk about my experience with MvC3 and UMvC3. Started out on the PS3 and moved to 360 for Ultimate. First thing I noticed was much quicker it was to find a match on the 360. I noticed less lag as well, though it was never a game breaker on the PS3.

As for quality of people, there are douche bags on XBL and PSN. You play a bunch of people and find the good ones, build a friend list, and enjoy the game.

I played SC4 on the PS3 and I fucking hated how I couldn't turn off voice chat. Voice came through the TV and there wasn't a damn thing you could do about it (even during a match), short of not playing people with mics/headsets. XBL has always given you full control over that stuff. I was able to get plenty of enjoyable matches but I do remember quite a bit of lag on the PS3.

Now I have SC5 on the 360. Had a blast with a 3-person lobby earlier, no lag. Watched a stream with a 6-person lobby going on XBL and the first morning had no lag. This morning's seemed a big laggy, mostly during the loading and/or character select screen, a few times during a match. Was a bit annoying but then again the guy was running a stream with plenty of viewers, so who knows what it would've been under normal conditions.

As for the fee for XBL, there are deals that show up every once-in-a-while on Amazon for $40 for a year's worth of XBL Gold. Plus the 360 comes with either 1 or 3 months free. I know, still sucks to have to pay to play online but personally, I'm over it.

Bottom line, I think no matter what you choose you can have a good time. You might have to work on some stuff depending on which console you go for but in the end it doesn't matter too much.

Most french used to play on X360, those with ps3 didn t play at all live....
I heard many US players saying that SC4 on PSN is equal to SC4 on xbl, but for europe i can say that the difference in term of lag is huge....
That without considering that freeze at the beginning of every round that was present only on PSN.

Even at 5 full bars was near unplayable on psn europe compared to XBL.....thus most people just played relying on awful false frame traps that on xbl didn t worked without needing to learn how the game worked...(you could get around those frame traps with good reflexes...but that didn t made the match interesting due to being one sided if you know how to play).

That probably because thy seemed legit on psn....if you ignored frame data...but that led to a less skillfull community (excluding few players really good on psn also)....infact finding a psn eu player that can punish correctly its quite rare.

I got both version and despite the bigger community i quit psn after few months....

But i don t think is console related so i hope that scV on PSN will run smooth as pon XBL if they did it well this time....

I wait if someoene that have both version can confirm if both are good this time...
