Elgato Game Capture HD Review

Did anyone figure this out? I just purchased the Elgato and while I primarily will use it for XBOX I will probably want to use for ps3.

So how would I get this working on ps3 without lag to my TV?

Sounds like HDMI from PS3 --> into splitter --> Splitter 1 (HDMI to Tv) ---> Splitter 2 Hdmi to component converter into elgato?

Is that right? And how do you bypass this whole HDCP stuff?

Once it's been converted to component, HDCP doesn't apply.

Got it. I guess I'm confused. Seems like a simpler option would be to get an Hdmi box that strips HDCP? But where to find one of these that does not lag? Is that amazon one legit?

Link? I've never found one on Amazon. HD Fury apparently has one, but I can't puzzle out their site.

They both work with it. With the PS4, you have to turn off the HDCP in the system settings before it'll work. Xbox One works fine without fiddling around with it tho.

Okay,... so now I'm dealing with a laptop, one HDMI splitter, an ASUS monitor, (2) HDMI cables, an elgato device w/ a USB/mini USB cable and a PS3.

What other equipment would I need to have a recording feed from the Ps3 to the monitor to the laptop?

One from the system to the capture, one from the capture to the monitor. For ps3 capture via hdmi, you need a hdmi stripper which would require another hdmi cable in the chain as well. So yeah, 3 hdmi cables.

Hmm, alright so I have rested from this site for a while.
'Last time I tried to connect the capture was maybe two weeks from today.
- I place the PS3 "Display Settings" to Component/D-Terminal
- Used a wire provided by the elgato that connects from the Component/Composite rear port (not HDMI rear port) of the PS3
(all this without the stripper)
--> the rest is history.
I only tried it once and...yeah, there actually was a picture, but did the screen on the laptop go in and out, but the elgato program itself did not save any of the footage on the "EDIT" menu.

I have recently acquired an additional HDMI cable. Since I do not have my set-up out, I'm envisioning how you put things out. How should the connection from the laptop be used and how is the exact layout of the stripper connection?
