[Auckland, New Zealand] Flying is over-rated

Yeah none of my friends play me at any fighting game anymore tbh, even if I completely suck at it like KOF13 or SF. Main reason why I think it should probably be a lot easier to get people into SCV who are already into other Fighting Games. As they will already understand the basic fundamentals of fighting games, even if the fundamentals are slightly different from game to game, plus usually they're more willing to attempt to learn it. Idk, we just need to find all the online SCV players, get them all into one place and attempt to convert other Fighting game players to play SCV lol. Then start an offline scene haha.

My problem is you are all in Auckland lol! Where are the Wellington players at to play offline?

Also the only fighting game I play is the Soul Calibur series, I never had much interest in 2-d fighting games and Tekken's movement system is so annoying. The only other fighting game I own is DOA5, but I am pretty bad at it.

Lol true that. Haha I dunno you're gonna have to try and find some Welly players lol. At least other than Auckland Wellington probably has the next biggest FGC I think. Not Tekken though as they don't have an arcade... Christchurch is next biggest other than Auckland for Tekken but even then its pretty small..

Yeah I can understand not having much interest in 2d fighting games, I use to not like them at all, but then I got MK and liked it. Then after watching all the Standingfierce guys play them they looked fun so I started learning SF, SFxT, KOF13 and injustice (I'm still amazingggly terrible at these games).

I can understand how you feel about Tekkens movement system as well.. Meh, it's a bit hard but just moving around feels so enjoyable in it for me.

I suck at DOA5 as well loll, I don't think anyone really takes that game that seriously on a competitive level though, I don't think there's like any NZ community for it either..

Yeah I dunno lol.. if you were to pick up another fighting game i'd prob recommend tekken for the similarities, or Marvel for the quickness in learning that I've heard it has, or Injustice for the fact that it seems pretty easy and its a new game so everyone is still learning wtf to do. haha.

Also i'm on XBL atm if you want a game or two. Btw i'm pretty average at SCV as well lol

I'll hop on after I have my dinner which will be in about 15-20 minutes, so I'll be on in about 30-40 minutes as a guess if you will still be on then.

I can play SCV pretty well, problem is that also means many people won't play me much because most of them have trouble getting a win against me.

I guess there is always the unthinkable... I could get a xbox
Is there such a thing, where I can have a PS controller wired for xbox? surely there is a trinker out there who's done such a thing?

I'm not sure, you can get third party controllers similar to a PS3 controller for the xbox at least, as to whether you can get something to make your PS3 controller work on an xbox 360, I do not know.

You can get converters that you can plug your PS3 controller into and use it to play on a xbox.
Stuff like this:

http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PlayStation-2/Futuretronics-PS2-PS3-Converter-Twin-Pack/1543677/ - except for ps3 to xbox360. Not ps2 to ps3

or these:

http://dx.com/p/ps-ps2-to-xbox-360-usb-converter-cable-adapter-black-158413

Dunno what those above things are like.. But yeah if you are going to get a 360, (I prob wouldn't) just type in ps3 to xbox360 converters or something.

Chances are, after the xbox one comes out (that name "Xbox One" still sucks ass by the way), you will probably be able to pick one up off Trademe for a really good price since many people might be selling their old xbox (considering the new xbox isn't backwards compatible that would be a rather stupid move, but hey, not my xbox they are selling lol).

Thanks Ill have a look. It seems like the only way to play sc atm is through xbox and even then, its bring the worse out of me.. sigh, I lose friends alot

Yo, the league has started up. Just sign up here with the games you want to play:
http://www.standingfierce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=715&start=140

Then sometime soon in another thread I think, either Jonny Brown or Dsilver will post telling you who you need to vs for the week etc. Also i'm unsure on the default tournament rules so can someone double check this:

Also I noticed the rules for SCV aren't up yet. AFAIK, I think the default tournament rules are:

- 3/5 rounds
- First to 5 wins
- 60 second time limit
- All character allowed (Except for create a soul characters. This being the case, means Devil Jins banned, unless we make an exception or something? Customized characters should be fine I think?. Just not CaS)
- and lastly Violas back throw infinite is banned. (They may have taken the infinite out of the game but I have no idea soooo yeah)

IDk, don't quote me on this. Elmartillo or MKH spartan should check or confirm to make sure I guess.

First to 5 wins is just for the purpose of the league, most tournament i'm assuming are first to 2 or possibly 3.

Run it by standard 8way rules. You got the gist of it there, but I would like to say:

- No Create a Soul characters, so that means no Devil Jin, any of you Tekken players out there.
- Recolours of P1/P2 outfits are ok, but no custom weapons, outfits, hit effects etc
- Viola's infinite has not been removed, and it is banned in tournaments so do not use it or you will automatically forfeit the round.

I think that about covers most of it, I'll check the official 8way rule set for tournaments in a bit to double-check, but that should be right or pretty damn close to it.

So yeah the leagues started just in case you didn't know http://www.standingfierce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=975

MKHSpartan and Elmartilo you two should really subscribe to that thread or keep an eye on it because I really don't want to have to remind you guys every week or tell you who you're vsing etc..
I have been keeping an eye on it, I'm sure me and Elmartillo will get around to having our games sometime soon.

Hey, so I made a discord recently for the NZ scene. Hopefully will help us create a proper community in NZ, and help build up a offline scene and such. Will likely run online tournaments weekly or fortnightly when the game comes out on both PS4 and PC. So yeah join if anyone happens to see this message :D.

Crazy thinking that it's been 5 years since we did the SCV online league haha. Good times. Hopefully some of you guys from back then will come back.
