Hoshino silenced by Namco? News from Harada

  • Admin
As most of you may know by now, Hoshino (@hoshino_calibur), who is the director of the Soulcalibur series as of 2013, has not been actively communicating with other users on Twitter. It is currently a Soulcalibur news station and not the voice or thoughts of the director himself. We generally see Twitter accounts for both game news and for the leading director when we take a look at other fighting games.

Why is Soulcalibur so different in comparison? Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN), the director of the TEKKEN series, had this to say on Twitter yesterday in reply to a comment aimed at him.

Harada in 2015 also had this to say.

Why is Hoshino not allowed to communicate with the fans of the game? It seems like an odd decision from a fan perspective. The only way I am able to rationalize this, is that Namco higher-ups may want to keep the future of Soulcalibur a secret. That way any other games they are trying to market (*cough* Tekken 7 *cough*) will have less divided attention. Is this the correct way to handle the social media aspect for the Soulcalibur series? Only time can tell.

WHENS SOULCALIBUR VI
I don't actually remember any of the SC news sources saying 'soon'.
The last post the SC FB page just said "please look forward for the next accouncement"

We have the game show on the 28th Jan guys, it's definitely a plausible hosting event that could have something, I am certain we are gonna hear something this year. We have had the character poll, few teaser hints from some sources (SC FB page, lost swords closing trailer comments) and now confirmation that certain Namco representatives are not allowed to communicate with the fans.

Let's keep the SC hype alive!

Btw
@JohnMcKee @linkorz You know ZWEI isn't the only character in C tier right? If you saying his unreasonably bad then surely you would think similar of Damp and Raph.
You are calling him bad for being a weak block punishment character, not exactly having a standard AA you can use like Pyrrhas and because his strings have holes in them during the netrual game. Pretty sure ZWEI isn't the only character who isn't top tier

About ZWEI I meant his face, he had to be reworked, same went for Siegfried. Calm yourself, Cecil x Silver, I'm not talking about movelists, tier ranking or whatever.

As much as I like the Tekken series, I really do not like this situation. It's been ALMOST 4 years since SCV and you would THINK they would've said at least something about the next main installment (Lost Swords doesn't count; garbage). By the time I read this article, you can't imagine how annoyed I am. Just, why?

Anyways, now that we know Hoshino lost communication privileges with fans, I'm starting to lose a little respect for Bamco.

My respect was lost a long time ago with Lost Swords. I bought everything from a gamecube for SCII, ps2 for SCIII, ps3 for SCIV and SCV, psp for Broken Destiny, and even a Wii for Legends. Now, it's utterly meh until I can see some cool trailer announcing Soul Calibur's return.
Bamco needs to stop treating Soul Calibur like its step child it secretly wants to sacrifice to a volcano. We want news! Bleh!

Anyone can ask Hoshino questions and receive absolutely no replies. However it may not mean he's totally not taking any of the fans' requests in consideration. But still... I can doubt that.
On the other side, any little thing Hoshino reveals by request, no matter how minute, the person who asked the question or made the request will spread the news like wildfire all over the net. It'll be a spoiler, just like a leak like mentioned before.
They could be working on something right now and the community will not be part of much. The FB page may interact with fans, but on the other side, there's a sub-print on the page stating, "Namco Bandai Games does not accept or consider any unsolicited ideas, concepts, or productions of any kind."

There are two sides to almost everything.

If we see a quality game then we will have our explanation.
Recently their batting % isn't lookin ao good so the odds are against them & the ball is in their court.

So, Soul series are going to forgotten fighting games pile with Virtua Fighter, Bloody Roar and Samurai Shodown...

Like I've been saying, the order will be Tekken 7 console release, wait one year, then SCVI will be announced, then SCVI will come out a year later, 6 months later Tekken 8 will be announced and a year later the Tekken players will leave. The same way it happened for the last two games, and the same outcome, unless Namco does something new, will result.
