Ivy Cancers - I want the cure now

Ivy has a 3 move mixup that is literally cancer on wheels. Unless you are a Yoshi with meter, this crap is absolutely annoying. Pair it up with one of the few supers with a built in guard impact once they get in close, you got yourself super cancer. If anyone has any insight into something I'm missing here, I want it so I can face smash every Ivy player going forward.

66 A - Super cancer Move; Horizontal double mid attack with massive push back, only punishable if you are close enough not to get pushed into the second hit. Becomes super safe.
2BG - Low remote throw. This thing makes you stop, block, and drop. If it hits you, you go back to Jail by being impaled away with good damage.
2BK - Mid spear from below, used mixed in with 2BG spam. Looks identical except for the last few frames, used to totally piss people off.

I do not remember Ivy ever having something this annoying before, but it's gotten to the point that it's pissing me off due to how hard it is to close the distance for something you know is coming.

Guard Impact. Jump away. Guarding. autoGI's if you want to risk and move forward. Saw my Siegfried playing roommate inch closer vs 66A with his horizontal aGI.
Watch the Evo grand finale. You'll really feel PartyWolf's struggle. 2:03:13 in the link below is one of my favourite moments. Seems like the best "tell" is when you're pushed to a mid/mid-far distance.

I played against that ivy player at PAX West at the Geico booth. Made him rage quit by beating him endlessly. I do remember the spammy 66a he did. And that was when I was relearning the game for the first time.

I guess online with the tiny bit of lag makes the Ivy turns into cancer.

You played against what Ivy player? The one in the video above?

The only cancer I see here is people who use the word cancer to talk about games. What do you think people who actually lost someone to cancer think of when they see this word? I come here to talk about video games not to be reminded about bad things from my past

Yeah. I recognize him. He looked basically the same at PAX but had some thinned out goatee or something. Reason I remember him is because he had this rage quitting moment where he couldn't stand me smacking him around with Siegfried nonstop while he was lugging this giant arcade stick at the Geico Booth. Then the next day, I decided to go to the PAX arena to watch the SC6 tournament I couldn't enter, and saw him walk up on stage vs Justin Wong and I went livid because I wanted to smack him some more. As he walked on stage, I told my friend "If that guy picks Ivy... that was the guy I made baby rage at the Geico Booth with the giant arcade stick"... and he locked in Ivy.

I only lost once during my plays at the Geico booth to some Kilik player. I didn't commit to memory the Kilik guy because he didn't get whiney and walk off. Friendly guy, wanted to play him more but didn't get the chance.

Unless he has a doppleganger and I suck at matching people, that's the same guy on the left at the start of the video I linked, right? Smacked him around and made him rage quit to a different kiosk. But I do remember him spamming that 66A move and that foot grab at the Kiosk but people online appear to have mastered the cheese mixed with lag :P, hence why I wanted to figure out the perfect counter to it so I wouldn't have to fret vs'ing them anymore.

Ummm. yeah man that's not the same guy. The guy in the Evo video is LinkRkc and he doesn't get smacked around by anyone lol. I guess I can kind of see the resemblance but yeah as far as I know Link wasn't anywhere near PAX.

My bad then. Who I saw in your video looked like the guy I played against but had grown a goatee at PAX.

Agree.
Ivy's 66A, 2B+K and 2 B+G are shit.
I got many games on Steam vs Ivy, they try to stay away from me and spam 2B+G ,2B+K and then 66A as crazy as they can to win the game.
Sorry Ivy players but she is ridiculously overpower in SC 6. REALLY.

Totally agree!!, Ivy is too safe for her damage, speed and range, strongest character at the moment. They will patch her for sure. Nightmare and Seong Mina are other two characters that are a bit over the top.

Buff other characters before nerfing the ones you struggle against. Ivy is a lot of fun to use and usually when nerfing happens it makes characters dull. Her 66A has already had a damage nerf when using soul charge and her 2A+G AoE has already been reduced.

I must agree!! this video explains why this option is a better aproach!!

Absolutely disgusting character both aesthetically and gameplay wise. Its mind boggling how easy she is to play and how difficult it is to play against semi decent Ivy. Yea, Yoshi, Seung mina and Nightmare might be a bit too strong but Ivy is on another level. She has strong mix ups from every range and on top of that her CE has auto GI against all attacks because clearly she needs a panic move for 40% hp. Also no clear weakness, shes not that bad in close range especially with the number of defensive options.
Im going back to T7 if they dont release balance patch soon for SC6.

I'll agree a decent Ivy is horrendous to fight but most Ivy players aren't, don't just rush in all the time patience will undo about 80% of Ivy players. E.g. 2A+G ivy tells you if its a throw or not, enslave is the throw, 6AAA finishes as high, just duck and punish, RE is great against Ivy and also if see an Ivy with meter dont try and rush her down just bait her CE and punish her for it.

Isn't that exactly what a FG is supposed to be? a continuous guessing game?
Absolutely, if you put aside the players' matchup knowledge, reaction time, space control, combo knowledge, creativity, and their ability to perform under pressure, fighting games are purely guessing games. Yup.

To add further to that the fighting games that are considered to be the best tend to allow players to make the fewest guesses.

In MvC2, you can run away all day long and call assists, set up safe offense and put your opponent in a blender. It's beyond broken by most standards but you can avoid these situations and if you make a few solid reads you can be the one guard breaking your opponent into a 100% DHC combo. Great players consistently win.
Tekken allows you to backdash and move around while still retaining ability to block, yet it's still considered a great series.
In Super Turbo, if you have perfectly set up zoning you don't need to make any major guesses for a bit. It's up to the other player to break down your zoning. That's where guessing comes in, good players will force others to guess while keeping themselves safer. Knowing when is a good time to take a risk (guess) is part of what makes a top player, a top player.

On the other hand, SFV removes most of the ability to play safe ever and players really are forced to guess more frequently. Other modern games have done similar things. SoulCalibur VI's frame data reflects this, it's very hard to put yourself in frame advantage situations; often to do a good mixup you have to do something that is punishable. There's plenty of moves that are minus on hit. Moving around can get you killed. This is just the way most games are made today. It's more balanced and fair but I would argue not as fun.

I think you missed my point entirely.
