Wyldwarrior's CAS Creations

Wyldwarrior

[10] Knight
Hello everybody.
One of the biggest reasons i love SoulCalibur is because of the Create-A-Soul feature and i really like having a dedicated place to show off my creations. My creations don't really have a backstory or anything. I Mostly just create things for the sake of it usually with a theme or particular item in mind. Criticism and advice welcome especially with patterns, stickers and color coordination. Edit: added those action shots.

First up is Balthezar a pirate wizard my first SC6 creation.

Greetings sir :D! Allow me to welcome you to our humble community of CAS-creators ;). Your reasoning for joining our site and how you love Soul Calibur resonates closely to my own similiar reasons for joining the site :). So you are most welcome :).

Now, onto your creations themselves. All of them look very solid and awesome creations. All have solid colour themes and simple concepts which they are based on and are a nice sight to view. The creations are also conviniently rather varieting in themes compared to one another, bringing certain unpredictability to the batch ( altough pirate theme seenm to pop out a couple of times XD, not necessarily a bad thing ). The choices of equipment are also fitting with all of them, altough I personally think Tokage could use some more equipment for details etc.

I personally and particulary like Maraoh, Garzithor and Kaede. The creation we used to play through the Libra of Souls for the first time kinda have this special spot in our hearts in some way or another and yours look beatiful, neat and sexy ;). Garzithor looks very nice for his look, equipment and colours fit very well to his orc theme, themewise, your strongest creation of this batch. He looks one mean and business meaning ork. WAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!! XD. Kaede looks also beatiful yet scary and somewhat appealing sight to look at. Her neat look and theme actually gave me an inspirational idea as to what kind of a creation I could come up with next. So thanks for the inspiration ;).

Overall, this first batch of yours is a very solid way of starting your journey here among us fellow CAS-artists and as one of us :). Keep up the good work and hopefully you stay active because I would love to see what you will come up with next ;).

First of all thank you for the kind words as well as your criticism. As for the variety you mentioned it will probably go down a little as i go through my older creations you will see recurring themes( particularly pirates, samurai, demons, and angels).

Kaede looks also beatiful yet scary and somewhat appealing sight to look at. Her neat look and theme actually gave me an inspirational idea as to what kind of a creation I could come up with next. So thanks for the inspiration ;).

If you like Kaede i think i have another character you will like if your own creations are anything to go by ;).

You are most welcome my friend ;). Well, those themes are kinda classics so it´s not necessarily a bad thing. It´s more about the execution that counts together with a clear concept. Nevertheless, I´m most eager to see what you have ;).

Oh, another creation like Kaede? With your last sentence may I presume that you have checked my own CAS thread then? If you have, what do you think of them :)?

I have looked at your thread and honestly i think its quite unique, I don't think i have seen any CaS like yours and really enjoy the fact that you don't use the standard bodysizes for women.

Most awesome job with this batch as well ;)! Colour themes are solid as well as their themes, altough I kinda see a rather striking similiarity with the your first batch, particulary with Akar, who somewhat resembles Balthezar from first batch. There are however bright sights as well, like the golden, holy Amirela as a counter to evil Marah from first batch. I particulary like Camilla ( hmm, wonder why XD ? ) and Pascal. Pascal looks like a true nobleman and gentleman with the elegant Raphale style and the combination of proper clothing and the harmony of black, white and gold. The hairstyle and monocle are also fitting choices with him ;). Your Tsuyoshis theme orc samurai looks kinda intrigueing, as putting an orc and a samurai together aren´t exactly the two things I´d imagine first to be put together as a base for a creation. Yet he still seem to work rather fine.

Overall good work with this batch as well ;)! Keep it up :).

So my first couple of post have been older stuff i made ages ago but i really want to get to some of my new stuff in. I also decided to add some action shots as well which I will probably add to my older stuff at some point.

Well this batch was a little on the short side but as i said i really wanted show off my newer stuff.

Again thank you and what you said about Akar is exactly what i was talking about with variety earlier.

I particulary like Camilla ( hmm, wonder why XD ? )

Yeah i figured you might like her ;).

Your Tsuyoshis theme orc samurai looks kinda intrigueing, as putting an orc and a samurai together aren´t exactly the two things I´d imagine first to be put together as a base for a creation. Yet he still seem to work rather fine.

When it came to Tsuyoshi i really wanted to make an orc that was more honorable and noble rather than the more savage orcs we typically see and a samurai theme seemed like a good representation of that.

You are most welcome ;). Well, you did say that about your variety, so fair enough, shouldn´t be that suprising thing. Altough I hope you can change that in the future, your call of course :).

Yeah i figured you might like her ;).

Oh, am I really that obvious XD?

Well, your idea behind him sure is a bit more unique than usually and I think you executed that rather well :). With the same theme, maybe making a nun ork next XD?

As for you latest uploaded creations, rather solid work with them as with the latest batch :). Nice that you also added some action screenshots to demonstrate your characters in action ;). The way you could take that this even further would be to take screenshots of them in training mode and in environments that would fit to their theme and look. For example Alexabdria would look cooler in Osthreinsburg Castle Hall or in Geralts fortress level. Just remember to remove health bars, move history etc. from the option meny so that they don´t disrupt the screenshot too much.

Speaking of Alexabdria she looks rather well executed creation with a clear colour theme and gear and equipment set. She´s also rather pretty in her close up screenshot. Priscila also looks very solid with her dancer concept and utilization of newest bird equipment. I like the way to put rose stickers to her eyes as cool looking facepaint. really gives her kinda unique look. And of course, Ivy style works rather well with her, altough Xianghuas style could also fit her due its dancing like stance, move set, and lightheaded personality. Lastly Takuya, who looks also very solid CAS with a harmonical colour theme and look. I particulary like his action screenshots which really gives life to his personality.

Most fine job once again :)!

Yeah once i'm done posting my old stuff i will try to avoid treading the same themes again and again. I actually have some ideas for stuff i haven't done yet.

With the same theme, maybe making a nun ork next XD?
I don't think i will do an orc nun as humorous as that would be but that has given me an idea.

I will definitely have to do that in the future and i may go back and do that for some of the stuff i already posted though it probably won't be for a while.

I was really happy with how Alexandria came out so it means a lot to hear that. I feel like she is an improved version of what i tried with Elencia which was a regal yet strong queen.

And of course, Ivy style works rather well with her, altough Xianghuas style could also fit her due its dancing like stance, move set, and lightheaded personality.

I went with ivys style because i was going for a more sexy and exotic style dancer though i will definitely have to use Xianghuas style in the future, I also think amys style when she comes out would suit a more high class Entertainer.

I particulary like his action screenshots which really gives life to his personality.
That is what i was thinking when i decided to start doing the action shots so its good to hear it.

Wunderschön, you are going in the right direction, both with varieting your CASs concepts as well as with screenshotting them in different locations ;). I´m most eager to see what kind of stuff you have in mind :). Glad I gave you an idea with my orc nun concept. Well you can sure be proud of Alexabdria, the name also is something that wouldn´t come to my mind at first. I see your point with picking up Ivy style, for a more sexy and ecotic style it´s a perfect fit. While Xianghuas style is kinda playfull, Ivys style brings certainty, exotic and dominatrix style to the dancer ;), which sits well to your vision. Kinda interested to see what Amys style brings to the table or do we just get a bit different Raphael style, which of course would be kinda disappointing.

Lots of really solid creations here. You've got a good eye for equipment and color combos! I can't help feeling like you could do a lot more with your creations though. I'd strongly encourage you to experiment with patterns, stickers, and 'extra equipment' slots, and really take your creations to a new level. You've got the basics down pretty well, I think, but plain colors and good equipment choices can only do so much before they start to feel stale.

Ex:
For Beorn and Ingrid, stickers on the leather boots to simulate some lacing or stitching. Scar stickers for Beorn to make him look a little more battle-worn, and don't hold back on the tattoos either. "Tiger" pattern for his pants (set to same color for stripes and base coat) to give them a rougher and more weathered look. Maybe some extra-equipment slots to give him a bit of shoulder-armor padding?

What you've got so far is good, but you've still got a lot more creation options to work with. Don't hold back!

Stickers and patterns have always been one of my weaker areas. I always have a hard time thinking outside of the box with them or go overboard and end up with something gaudy. I will start working towards being more mindful of using stickers and patterns in the future though.

A little more like this

Agree with Kieve on all accounts...too formulaic snd generic but i like the looks on last one too :) shared some tips with HK recently don't recall where...HK feel free to copy paste 2 help our friend with potential here :)

I agree with both Kieve and Vilarcane about too formulaic and generic. As for those exellent tips Vilarcane, your will shall be done :). Behold:

Start from the equipment and weapon on offer and see if it gives you ideas (i just had one recently which i am toying with with some angel armor parts). you did that well with Aziza i think. Or the other way around, start from something you'd love to recreate (RCAS) or an original idea and try to see if it's feasible with all the tips below
1-Reflect if chosing a different race can help you execute the concept better (cf Nefertiti or the aliens as good examples of that)
2-Build body and face/facepaint and underlayers (underwear) first, like you'd do on a figurine. If you forget something underneath, you can always use the view mode without equipment to check up on stickers you applied blind (if that makes sense), but it's more time consuming as you need to go back and forth between edit and view mode and check.
3-You can choose to work the skin sticker part at this stage or wait til you have found the right equipment set to see the visible skin sections and potentially save on stickers etc.
4-Select Equipment (combine instead of going for the full set, you can combine Eq and ExEq to create new custom pieces of equipment, faces, limbs or breast implants like you ir Umbra4life beautifully did on your CAS)
5-Work the colors (many tips to give here but you are no noob, but it gives a more natural look if you match equipment colors even when using different pieces from diff sets, cf Ninja Taki for instance for ref).
6-Work the stickers in all possible ways and try to make good use of the 8 slot limit, again it can create illusion of armor, hair, visors etc.
7-Add the ExEq and try to combine to make new things instead of just going for the obvious. Using all three is a must (at least for me)
8-Don't forget the voice, name, and weapon effects / colors for added personality
7-Seal the deal with a cool looking thumbnail for your own pleasure

Kiitos HK !
I would maybe add one tip that i didn't mention in my message to you because you are already applying it for your RCAS.
For recreations, it's always good to google a bit for reference pictures, it might help immensely getting a good feel for Eq to use/combine and color palette to go for.
Doing a bit of research, like i did on my Egyptian CAS (despite being very well versed in ancient egypt lore due to my countless hours spent in ACO (Assassin's creed Origins). I game i highly recommend, i even made a video of my journey on my youtube challenge, called ACO (split in three chapters : Adventure, Combat, Onirism).
I will post the link in my thread, since it is related to my latest CAS.

Hope it helps you Wyld...

Ole hyvä VC ;)!

I agree with having some reference pictures for the recreation. I too use them in some of my creations as well, for example with C´tan. I find Vilarcanes reseach on his Egyptian CAS and his knowledge on ancient egypt lore most intrigueing :). I too did some reseach as I was trying to come up with a name for Aziza that would also have a symbolic meaning behind it. You can find my explanation considering the meaning of her name in my CAS thread.

I too hope that our advices help you ;).

Very nice and awesome job with this batches CAS my friend ;)! It would seem you have taken our advices into account when making these CAS, considering their variety and concepts. particulary with Victor :). Their equipment choices fit their concepts well, particulary with Aishah and Scarlet. The colour themes in all of them look very solid and nice to view and the colours complement one another in a steady harmony. It´s nice to see how you used patterning on Victors sword to make it look like very bloody, which of course fits his theme of being a mass killer/murderer. You could have however tried to utilize other ExEq slots to make some touchy detail to him, as I kinda see that you used only one slot with Elies head. Your double use of Amy style with Scarlet and Edith have really given me a glimpse as to how good looking concepts one can create around Amy style :).

My personal favorite out of this batch is Scarlet. Your choices of her equipment fit really well to her pirate concept and the colour theme is also a very clear wholeness where colours work in nice harmony with one another. Like the use of flowers ExEqs on her hands which fit well to her Amy style in which the character throws roses at the opponent. Your gameplay pictures of her are also a delightul sight to look at, particulary as Amy styles critical edge gives such a good close up view of her. Her confident look, scars on her chest and face together with a long red hair ( seem to be Amy styled hair ) also makes her rather pretty and beatiful as well ;).

Overall, really nice work with this batch :D! Keep up the good work, I´m eager to see what you will come up with next ;).

The advice you guys gave was the basses for this batch of CaS. Its funny that you mentioned Victor because he was one of my older CaS but I had a clear vision for him which is why i think he came out so well. What you said about ExEq is true though i think thats something i will stuggle with for a while because i have a hard time seeing past there intended purpose.

Scarlet is also my favorite of this batch and my whole gallery. Your Guys advice about patterns and ExEq honestly brought her to life in a way that i wasn't achieving before.

Also thank you for all the advice you, Vilarcane, and Kieve gave. I still have a way to go so hopefully i can do better in the future.
