Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I love that they’re back too Although all of what has happened in history it would be nice to have more blackness!
(Zasalamel can’t be the only one like really)

Grow a cute wha??

As for Cassandra it would be a good idea for “Marketing” to release her after the tournament in Tokyo.
It gives space for casual players to get caught up in the pro player buzz of EVO while trapping everyone in place for a season 2 announcement.

Scary thing is if they don’t announce season 2 at EVO I doubt it’ll happen at all.
I'm wondering if season pass 2 entered production late enough that they feel it's not ready to be revealed yet. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking Cass is actually going to be their big EVO announcement.

Being completely fair, though, if we use Tekken 7 as a guide, the last season one character, Noctis, was released in March, and then season two was announced in August, and then season two launched in September. So I really think we shouldn't be expecting a season two announcement so soon... it might not come until the winter. Announced in November, launched in December? That may be more realistic an expectation. Tokyo/EVO will be all about Cassandra, I think, and if season two isn't mentioned, then it doesn't mean we won't be getting one.

I like how SCVI has less stages than previous games and that they feel lifeless, it means the developers can spend their budget on things that are actually important such as Libra of Souls and it helps you focus on the battle more if there is nothing going on in the background.

I like how half or more of the game's budget went to Soul Chronicle and Libra of Souls that most people only play once. There are much more casuals than hardcore players anyway and the story is more important than fighting people online.

I like how Tira is a disk locked character and that there is so much recycled DLC content, we should be grateful for even getting DLC in the first place.

I like how Creation mode has less items than previous games and that P3/P4 outfits can't be edited, it allows for more creativity. It's also nice how thumbnails don't show up before battles even though there is a blank space.

I like how there is little communication going on between Namco/Project Souls and the fanbase, it makes it more exciting to guess when we will get patches and DLC.

I like how the online still doesn't work properly. It's so fun getting network errors, being matched with beginners five times in a row, having to wait ten minutes before getting matched sometimes, etc. It's completely fair to have matches where you can gain 1 point or lose 50, or being stuck in a hell where you have meaningless matches for hours, it's not as if rank points truly matter anyway. It's also nice how Casual Match is an inferior version of SCV's Player Match.

I like how player licenses are less detailed compared to SCV, it would only discourage people if they see how many losses they have.

I like how the developers sometimes make stupid balancing decisions and that they added an ugly yellow effect to Reversal Edge, it makes the game better.

It's a very good game. I'm not playing it nearly as often as before and am considering not buying a new PS+ subscription immediately after my current one expires, but that has nothing at all to do with the game itself, nope.

God help us! 😱😱😱
@Apoc Revolution that post was frightening to read... now I am deeply disturbed, lmao.

Edit: what's really sad is that I am so gullible, I actually tried to take it seriously for like the first 2 sentences. O.o

I feel exactly the same as I did a year ago or so when that goddamn Australia build revealed the disappointing roster and blank slots for dlc.

Having to go through weeks of them hyping up leaked characters with no surprises was brutal.

And now here we are in summer 2019 clinging desperately to the hope that Project Soul will come through and give us a second season pass of characters that we actually want.

Well the lack of news and communication just tells me there is nothing to be excited for.

Cassandra is it.

SC6 is good but it's not mature enough unlike T7 that reached its peak and had time to mature with many years since its release in 2015, graphics, battle visuals, mechanics adjustment, quite good amount of characters and cie. While SC6 even tho it's a very good game but it's a vanilla game, a just born baby and with low budget, and so still has huge windows for improvement on almost every aspect of it.

I'm really hoping for a FR like update for SC6, the jump between T7 vanilla had really changed a lot the game and people opinions about it, i still remember the so many negativity around T7 before the FR, like way more people seems hate it than like it when you read comments.

So SC6 "FR or something season" would brought:

  • Graphic update: Just this would do huge for the game
  • More stage and with more variety
  • 2P outfits, heck if they don't have the budget for it they can do something just with the availble CaS, as soon as it's something that fits the character and that he/she would wear i don't think anyone will see a problem on it isn't? I mean we can all agree that it would definitely be better than not having 2P at all.
  • Adjust visuals (talked about it just above)
  • Gameplay improvement and adjustments (talked about it in wishlist thread)
  • And obviously more characters, Setsuka, Hilde, Yun (or Hwang) to name only them. (i'm not interested to see Algol back tho)
  • They can also do few changes for the faces if they want to, this would give fresh air to the game too, i personally wouldn't mind they brought back the "more young looking" Ivy face she had in her reveal trailer. They can also do something with Groh's face as imo he has one of the most generic face in the game, maybe something that make him close looking to his portrait. Of course not necessarily need to be for each character too.

If they reveal only Cassandra at Evo they'll need to at least tease something, like just 2 words for teasing upcoming stuffs. There maybe not reveal Season 2 at Evo because T7 season 3 will very likely be announce at Evo, and they wouldn't want to announce both at the same event? I'm ok with it and don't mind it and waiting a bit more but they need to tease it at the very least, i mean you know what they can also announce Soul Calibur World Tour and this will be a bright air for SC6 and it means that SC6 has still future (so Season 2 will end up coming)

Thank you @HackNslash and yeah they should add a bit more of everything.

Grow a cute wha??

Hehe...

...Google 'bottom slang' or to be extra extra 'neko slang'. 😈

@Apoc Revolution
You really make me wonder why I even dared to bother to try and have at least a little bit of optymism.
Serves me right I guess.

He seems to have been sarcastic though. Last I checked he is the very first ranked Raphael player in PS4 so he must love the game.

Are you, really?

Look, I more than get where you're coming from, I really really do, but, seriously.
Maybe a week without bitching was too much to ask, but not even one day?

I don't want to come across as someone who can't take a joke, but on the other hand I am so goddamn bloody tired of the negativity that's rampant (not only here, admitedly), that I hope you can't blame me for trying to force a smile here and there, eh?

I remember the hate and some of the obscene damage you could do in it. Tekken 7 from vanilla to console release had a three year arcade public development period that really changed the game for the better. I don't think SC6 has the same problem visually though the severe lack of stages with most of them being boring as fuck really makes fighting in them tiresome. The game really needs some quality of life additions so the experience remains fresh.

Yeah absolutely and i'm glad someone here know this, and that's why i'm still not used to how everyone seems to love Tekken 7 lol. A lot people need to know that Tekken come long to reach that level and it didn't happen in one night.

Anyway when i say visual i mean many things, like toning down the over the top special effect, and graphics wise i still think it can have some upgrade (but of course it will depend if Bamco want to invest more in the game). And the game need more stages and with more variety too, like more closed stages with no ring out, some half ring out, and even some multi/transition stage, like with first rounds it's close then it have ring out, or the opposite.

I'm late to the mix, but is that CaS contest for only recreating Cassandra? Otherwise, I would have kept working on my Urdnot Wrex for my submission, lol. This is what I have, still trying to mix and match armor parts, it's difficult to find an armor part with the proper crotch armor plating I need.

If the contest truly is for a recreation of Cassandra, going to give a stab at it even though there many good ones on these forums from others.

Even though I'm average or so when fighting others, I still enjoy the Soul series and CaS is just another thing I love about this game. I hope this series continues to get support with more future DLC and even one day play SCVII when it would have a much larger budget from the good sales of SCVI.
