Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

@Ukkesh

What you're actually asking for is more attack options rather than Brave Edge moves. That's basically the sweet spot fighting games try to aim for, where you get to play characters the way you want to play. It's the reason I gravitate towards Yoshimitsu in SC6, his options are so varied, wacky and so much fun to do. His moves being locked behind Brave Edge commands are more of an annoyance to his flow than anything else considering AA A+B, 4A A+B, 6BB A+B all require counter hit to fully use. The only outlier is WR A A+B which is a natural, but all his Brave Edge moves are balanced, even his Flash that got updated with a fireball is nothing more than a neutral poke that consumes half meter.

If Brave Edges were to be a thing again, I'd at least not have the inputs be quite the same way. It always felt awkward to slide everything into A+B+K. Especially on an arcade stick.
They can always just do what they did with Yoshimitsu and have them be A+B after certain inputs. I think it can work.

And honestly, I’d like to see Brave Edges make a comeback for all the cast in another installment and not just be a Yoshimitsu and Geralt (if you consider his spells to be brave edges) exclusive. I like Soul Charge and all, plus it was nice to see a mechanic that was considerably mediocre in past games get some practical use. But I can’t but feel like that in this game it just turns everyone (except Xianghua) into overly oppressive guard crushing gods. Even for characters that aren’t very oppressive normally like Voldo, Kilik, Sophitia, and Cervantes. I really think they need more flavour in the next game should it return.

Yoshimitsu & Geralt always played SCV in SCVI. If SCVI has a Season 3, it should make Brave Edges for every characters, rollback netcode, Yun-seong & guest because it takes 4 months for new content. Hwang might come out before Christmas. The Hwang patch should fix bugs, glitches, hitbox issue, & make Setsuka's EZ OP 6A+B, 3B+K, 4A+B consume 1/4 meter & do 1/2 DMG of regular moves.

Soul Charge is way better, leave Brave Edges as a gimmick exclusive to a couple of specific characters.
I’m sorry but, WHAT!? I almost threw up a little bit . . .

And call me a bitch or whatever you want, but my “why” is damn well interrogative as F#%K!

How the HELL is only applying BEs to specific characters attractive and pleasing? Because for me it’s absoLUTELY REPULSIVE!!!

I can’t sit here and not admit that a larger movelist is pretty damn fabulous but to simultaneously look at “Soul Charge is way better”?

I’d have to be drunk . . .

Why (not interrogative, just curious)?
Personally, I enjoy the suspense that SC brings to the round when activated in critical situations. As a mind game, too because it can cause me (and others?) to freak out or pump concentration knowing that someone might be able to come back with more varied and powerful options than before.

Brave edges add a little bit of mind game, but not as much. I do, however really enjoy Yoshi's BE mechanic.

Because I like how Soul Charge makes characters overpowered for a short period of time allowing for a comeback if used effectively or a complete waste of resources if used badly. I also like different strategies it brings to the table (how you can try to run away from a soul charged opponent until it wears off or counter with your own Soul Charge, etc.)
What I definitely don't want is to worry constantly about getting hit by overpowered Soul Charge moves outside of Soul Charge every time my opponent has a sliver of meter (so basically 90% of the time). Screw that. For example, when playing against another Siegfried I definitely don't want to be constantly terrified of eating :a(B): into :K: soul charged train. That would be awful. Some moves need to be contained within strict limits.

Yeah fair point that would f*cking suck! I ghess SC allows stuff like that to be in the game without it being massively broken at the same time (by having access to it whenever).

October 31st.
Us waiting for Okubo to announce the Sophitia mystery costume at the end of the event.

He would be better without it and just have his BE moves as normals. I would take away the GB properties and make WR A A+B a natural combo on counter hit. The only thing I would make consume meter is his Super Dragon Fly, similar to how is consumed health in previous games. That would give purpose to his Meditation stance.

As someone who has spent sleepless nights watching these tournaments waiting for some news I would only hope for something if they have intentions left the last character for mid October and announce the rumored* Season 3 for the last event that will happen in late November. Looking for the actual dlc chronology of the 4 months from each character + mini CaS packs, I would expect nothing in this month.
