What would you rate SCV out of 10 ?

Kind of ironic you think those are all negative points, because that's actually what I like in 3-D fighters. I'm pretty mediocre at most 2-D fighting games, but SC is probably the fighting game I'm best at. I've been playing since SC2, and the heaviest 2-D game I played was hundreds of hours of...

What would you rate SCV out of 10 ?

Just going to reiterate (in short) mostly the same sentiments. Pros: Better netcode. Quick step and less generous lateral tracking of BB's. Versatility of some of the new BE moves. Overall game balance feels solid. Cons: Story mode. Removal of classic characters/moves. Weak single player...

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

Yeah, the connection speed doesn't indicate stability at all. I find that it's inconsistent even when you play the same person repeatedly on Player Match. I sat in the same room and played the same guy for maybe 10 matches yesterday, most went well but 2-3 disconnected soon after start.

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

To be honest, SC4 had terrible network code. I always though the latency to your button input could be felt even at 4 bars, and I rarely ever matched anyone with 5 bars. On SC5 the new net code is pretty good (when it works). Even at 3 bars the game runs in credibly smooth with little (if any)...

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

Welp, problems creeping back. As I suspected, my problems have a lot to do with player traffic. Things go to shit on weekend evenings like starting at 6pm today, but it works perfectly fine on regular weekdays. I don't have any explanation other than too many players being on at the same time...

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

It was working already with regular port forwarding and rebooting the entire network. I just set the DMZ for kicks and PS3 isn't really going to be any significant security risk to the network anyway.

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

Hell, I just turned on a DMZ for my PS3 right now. As long as you know how to set the static IP and get to the router controls, it literally only takes 1 minute to find the option, check the box, and type in the IP you assigned to your PS3.

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

I think that's the normal to expect to be honest. I now drop about 1 in every 10 fights. Much better than 9 of every 10 fights when my connection problem was at its worst though. I'm still not sure how my connection will do this weekend but I'll try to play as much as I can. I still have a...

    Getting decent

Pyrrha is extremely easy to play, both the vanilla and Omega varieties. She's probably the best example of the philosophy Eji1700 and I were talking about. Sorry for the long video, but it proves the point better than words. As you can see here, simple tactics executed well are consistently...

    SCV Tier List

As a casual player, I never put any stock into tier lists personally. They just aren't really relevant to most players, and I don't particularly find theorycraft "fun." That said I always like to see what characters/players perform well in competitive play. If anything, I'm very "anti-tier...

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

@ Peter, GNR, EmilyCookieBear: It does take some above-average computer literacy to do the router port forwarding, but I highly recommend you guys not be intimidated by it. Taking it step by step it's pretty easy and you only have to do once. And for any of you who went through with the port...

    Soul Calibur V Connection Problems?

To be honest I still think it's quite hard to pin down the exact problem. Using the same ISP, I played well the first 2 days the game came out. Then it came to a crashing halt for 3 days where 90% of my fights would drop out. After applying router fixes and restarting whole system, it worked...

    How good is good enough?

The short version is that it's a router issue for most of us, although some people are saying they can't fix it no matter what. Check your PS3 to make sure you at least have NAT 2 type connection, then open the appropriate ports on your router control panel. Finally, turn off EVERYTHING and do...

    How good is good enough?

You aren't alone on this issue. We have a whole thread about it. http://8wayrun.com/threads/soul-calibur-v-connection-problems.10330/ I put a lot of posts in there because I was exactly where you were, unable to play a single fucking match without disconnecting. I was able to fix my problem...
