  • Hey, I saw you playing on stream today and your Mitsu/Pat were looking beastly. Congrats on your placing, dude.

I had no idea you played Mitsu at a similar level to Pat actually. Though I do remember you contemplating changing mains.
I'm gonna get back on the week end, so if you're up for a few fights, any time from then is cool.

Yeah, I've been playing him quite a lot so they are around the same level. I might jump on PSN this weekend in that case, hard to find good players these days

Yeah, I'll probably be online quite a bit this week end to shake off some of the rust :P
How does one become defensively solid? Feels like my biggest problem

Imho, I feel my weakness is being blind to MUs and fine tuning some fundamentals. Conquer those and polish them, I believe you'd be a force to be reckoned with haha.

Many would say defense is simply memorization of frames. I say just learn your pokes and punish what looks unsafe.
How do you prepare for a tournament? I literally don't know what to practice or try to learn -_-

Play games days before to make sure your execution is fresh. If there is a certain person you know who is going to be there. Go to practice mode and scenario the fight a little bit to find counters to moves and setups. And the main thing in my opinion, make sure you get plenty of rest and you eat and drink during the tournament. Hell, I'll normally take nyquil before a tournament to help me sleep.

Beats me. I wish I could afford to go to tournaments.

Kinda late but thanks. I did what you suggested, it seemed to work fairly well.
    Feel like I'm getting better

One of my better nights on SC in terms of opponents. I appreciate really good players letting me play them.
Trying to level up my Mitsu so I can play him as a main. Pats taking a backseat

What's wrong with mirrors for you? I see people complaining about them(almost regardless of their character), but I never understand why. Doesn't help that I enjoy them myself, but I'm still curious.

It isn't all mirrors, just NM ones. Its not really the fact that I don't like them, it's that I always lose them. I put half of it down to me not knowing the NM vs NM match up and me not wanting to know it.
Had a good time playing offline tonight. Too bad SC is kinda dying although I'll continue to play it.

This has had a huge impact on offline competitions imo. As for why the current crop of online players don't want to go to tournaments - tbh it's something I could go into detail about, but short answer is, video games traditionally give us a god complex, so a lot of players prefer to be bedroom champions and avoid playing players who can actually beat them.

Yeah, I can understand that. There's no excuse offline. But then I guess there's the other end where if people don't think they can win, they see no point in competing

Indeed. For us we just wanted to play. Winning really wasn't the issue. I don't think any of us thought we'd be winning tournaments. We just wanted to play. The bad netcode in SCIV was an incentive to play offline because the game was completely unplayable online at high level. SCV suffers online, but is playable.
If I wanted to learn to play a 2D fighter, what would people recommend? Bare in mind SC5 was my first fighting game.

HDR's still floating around. They also had SF2 Turbo on Live years back. Dunno if it's still being offered. Otherwise there are Capcom arcade compilations you could look into.

    OK. Thanks guys
Its true what Max said in his latest vid. The more you play the game, the easier it is to become unpredictable and harder to beat.
