Raphael media =/

66b+K hits grounded, 66A+B hits ground. I don't know about it being as powerful as kilik's 4A+B though lol

Looking at the old kayane vs raphael AI video, and considering kowtow's comments, WOW 1A looks to do single digit damage. That shit better at least track considering its going to be about i20, - on hit and CH, and probably unsafe. But maybe 33B and 11BB has improved, as 1A in SC4 for 18 damage was weak but at least could be reasoned so. Afterall it is a different game so maybe this comparison is unfair

With Advance Slicer being FC 3B, now on unanticipated FrC guard stun, an attempt to 3B will still get you a dangerous NH move. And is it still safe? Do want. And on screwing up 236B out of crouch, ... it's also still that. And not a >i23 low. [/failpointofview]
True, true. But I said it wrong, FC3B stuns on NH now. I guess its justified that it launches too far for a combo (otherwise Raph players could combo over and over again with NH stun.
If you're talking about an infinite, I don't follow. The mechanisms that prevent that still exist, don't they? Or do you just mean making it harder to give a cheap mixup after the one knockdown? I agree there. A good Raph is better than a godlike, shallow Raph (or a banned Raph).
Would the next guest of a location test take a look at types of crumple stuns?

Has anyone noticed that Raph has fewer "ground" attack options? 1A,2B, and 2K are relatively weak. 33B and 11BB are too slow. As of right now, I know 2A+B is gone. I want 2A+B to be in his movelist. With its range, it could still connect after a FC3B.
Meh. I oki with throws and I likes it.

I'm liking the B throw into wallsplat into CE. Nice!!
And you guys already pointing the good stuffs so I wont say it again.

But I still miss SC2'a A+K and B+K.
Is the 2_8_4_6 B+K series still exist? I hate that move, it needs to go away.

I did notice in the Kayane video, Raphael's 4A cause a backturn on Leixia but it looked like a run counter or something. But I did not see it say counter. I relooked and it was obviously a counter after she whiffed but it did not say counter in the onscreen text.

I know some people taped some of my casual matches, I dunno who they were though lol. Haven't seen them posted anywhere yet. I probably used more moves there than I did in the exhibition lol.

And yeah for grounded hits having 66a+b is better than a lot of characters, good damage on hit and good position on block, unless it's changed dramatically from older versions. Probably tracks rolling to at least one side too lol. Raph won't lack for good OTG hits. Besides even a quick 2b/WS b can be beneficial depending on how you follow up. Not every character needs loldmg options to hit opponents who stay down.

Definately, as that is a weaknesses i'm willing to accept. SC4 Raph took that to another level when his opponents can easily tech everything after a 236B/VEB:B/prepBBB:B knockdown. 2B and i'm happy he doesn't have to be nightmare/amy

In this video, 02:26 Raph is showing his auto-counter stance, (don't know the notation) but Natsu still hits him with horisontal highs.
So that stance only counter mids/verts?
Because I've never seen this stance evades/counters anything in raph videos.

You don't know how many times i wished i could have hopped from preparation, lol. Back turned because i whiffed something, all too embarrassing.

If Raph is the character that tends to whiff the most, it's only fair that he gets to dodge better than other characters, in my opinion.

This point is agreeable.

Unfortunately, if this AE has a built-in automatic attack, there is a serious risk of him eating CH from the opponent's 2nd hit instead of actually evade-n'-punish that it was intended for. Hopefully he has some hitbox shifting during VE A, or it has some auto-GI component (that just causes him to have vertical attack ghost through him like yun's B+K)

I want the developers to make this Raphael the best Raphael he's ever been. Beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't want any questions, ifs, ands, or buts. Put soul 2 raph to shame with awesomeness and a beard.

Okay, first of all after seeing that video, I was all hyped up. Raph's voice is much manlier and his arrogant laugh is sooo BADASS.

Haha, that was my first reaction too! XD

In response to the Auto-Evades, I'm getting worried now. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a successful AE attempt in a video yet... I hope it ends up being as useful as it was in SCII or III.

There actually was one, but I totally forgot which one. It was in the infinite moonlight battlefield stage, and Raph evades which, when successful, went to VE stance (where he gives off some ghostly purple energy) and he goes straight into VE A. It could be the only option, or it was manually inputted, as this is where the bulk of speculation is from.

Ah, I'll have to hunt for that video. Glad to see my worry was for naught, but now I'm a bit worried about that. Only one option? I'll just have to hope not, I guess. In either case, glad we're 100% sure that auto-evades are back.

Hype!

probably just one though. you couldnt really tell there was two in 3 because they looked the same. If thats the case with this raph its going to be harder for opponents to know what to strike him with if they see it.

I'm hoping it is like SCIII. That's the Raph I've played the most, probably, and my favorite auto-evades.

I totally agree Azure. How much time do we have left to allow possible changes to Raph's movelist?

Probably none, lol. The game is gonna have to go gold in a few weeks. They've no doubt finished everyone's movelists and most balance changes by now, the rest is just fine tuning and bug fixing. So they're not going to do something like adding in new moves or auto evades at the last minute.

Besides, you have to be careful with that concept in a system where GI costs meter. Make a GI/evade move too strong, and that character plays outside the system where everyone else has to spend meter on something one character can do for free.

That's true, I hadn't considered that. And, yeah, whatever the movesets are at right now is probably where they are going to stay. We just have to trust Namco made the right decisions, and I think they probably have. I just can't wait to try the game, myself.

aGI I agree, but an evade doesn't guarantee a hit thought (and runs the risk of having you eat a CH for your efforts).
