Just Guard

I'm seriously having trouble with this feature. Yet I keep seeing people type about how easy it is. how u du dat?

The key is to release G very quickly after pressing it. On a pad it's kind-of difficult to do it just right. It's pretty much just frame blocking their attack and releasing the G button before the required frame limit (1 maybe 2 frames?)

I'm having problems with it too. I did it once on purpose in training mode and once by accident in an arcade match. I may need a new contoller. Or, I just need to practice more.

On a semi-related note, I am really missing traditional Guard Impact. It would have sigjificantly cut down my run time through Legendary Souls. :-/

I know what you mean. I keep trying to GI out of reflex and getting smacked in the face

Bright side is that it's making me rethink my tactics. Instead of just using GI as a get out of jail free card of sorts.

Despite what people say my brother and I have been getting it by spamming G in anticipation. Getting it about 30% and not taking hardly a hit.

I actually just tried this out for the first time in training, in about 5 minutes of trying it out i got it like maybe 10 times. not too bad, but i can see how it can be even tougher for others.

The best use for it is punishing AA(the second attack), BB(the second attack), and telegraphed strings and getting a solid punish! But its a pretty easy action tho. Similar to parrying in 3rd Strike you jut tap G and let go instantly.

Keep a couple things in mind:

-You have to press and release the G button in less than 4 frames
-You cannot get a just guard after having just let go of the guard button, so spamming G doesn't work

So... if pressing guard is one frame, and releasing guard is one frame (all when done perfectly), that gives you...

um...

No, I can't quite figure out how this works...

Unlike attacks, guarding is not animation based, so it's instantaneous. For example, if you get hit with 12 frames of block stun and you hold the guard button and your opponent does a 12 frame attack, you'll block it, I think. I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain that's how it works.

This is immensely harder than Guard Impacts.

Here I assumed that JGs would make the defense game simpler (since there is no consequence for missing a Just Guard, presumably, you just don't have the recovery advantage). Guard Impacts throw your opponent off you but missing it means you WILL take a hit.

Just Guard, however...I've not even pulled off one yet (despite knowing the conditions for executing one from the very beginning).

Well, I mean, I'm talking about the acceptable frame window for a Just Guard.

If you need to hit the Just Guard within 4 frames, is it four frames before hit? Four frames after hit? Four frames on hit?

Pressing buttons takes frames to register. If you press G and release G as fast as possible, is that 2 frames, or 1 frame?

Just Guard is supposed to work on the release of G. So, if-

"...." represents 4 frames

[G] represents press

g represents release

H represents hit

Is it

....
.[G]g.
..H.

?

... Is this in the Future Press guide? I'll get off my ass and buy it if that's the case :X
