Homophobia didn't exist in ancient Greece. So much that they didn't even have words to differentiate homosexual from heterosexual. It was all seen as the same.
17th century is not Ancient Greece.

Haven't checked the Ottoman Empire yet, but England, in particular, did have sodomy laws in the 17th century (Buggery Act 1533), which were extremely strict at the time. There were still VERY FEW cases like King James I and his few male lovers, but they were not as mainstream in Europe as today.

For Japan, however, this was a different story. Usually young boys were the ones who were involved in gender fluidity and pederasty with older men. Think what Ranmaru Mori and Nobunaga Oda were rumored to be.

Sidenote: If they make my dream character a man, I will find you and I will kill you.

Edit: Researching Ottoman Empire and I don't see anything saying that it was prohibited for them. Only "decriminalized" in 1858. I'm assuming that they had a similar instance as Japan in the 1600s. I find this ironic given how the Turks and Arabs are now because of wanting to be like "Europeans".

Maybe its not that ancient, but the religion is pretty much the same. They worship Olympian gods and, since they actually exist in the SC universe, its even more of a reason to believe they would still see homosexuality in the same light as hetero. Can't say much about Ottoman Empire, though, I don't know about them.

Ranmaru and Nobunaga were not "rumored to be", they were both gay (or bisexual in Nobunaga's case, he had a lot of kids and some concubines, so, he can't be just gay). And you can't say they were not lovers, from what history says, Nobunaga cared more about Ranmaru than his own wives, he even gave Ranmaru lots of favor and higher positions in his ranks despite his young age (I think Ranmaru died like 20 years old).

Ottoman Empire=Greece in the 1600s, along with other countries. It wasn't considered a "religion" as it was in Ancient Greece. It was a culture, but being under the rule of the Ottoman Empire had conflictions (Greeks were practicing either Christianity or Muslim, among others, at the time) . Just Namco doesn't care A LOT about Ottoman Empire (Or Western culture for that matter) to plenty of research on it. That is all. They just wanted a blonde haired, blue eyed character to have importance, and lazily used Greek mythology because of how universal it is, while keeping away from religion.

And Nobunaga and Ranmaru may have been involved in pederasty. That may be true, but Ranmaru, in particular, died too young to even make the generalization that he was "gay". He never got the opportunity to advance from shudo.

Is it still giving PS an excuse to have genderfluid characters in SC? Possibly, but with how history was, making a character exclusively and publicly homosexual will be a huge stretch, because that concept never existed. PS would have to find a way to include that in without making it overt. The character would have to be "on the down low" about being romantically attracted to the same sex, but publicly with the opposite.

But, like Kung Jin, it would only end up being a sidenote anyways.

Bisexuality on them its still justified, they still believe in their gods, so the religion is still the same, because the gods are all bisexual as well. Also, Ranmaru never having the opportunity to "advance" is a wrong statement, remember that shudo only had sex involved when the young man allows it, as such, its not like he didn't want that.

Also, Kung Jin's sexuality is extremely important to the game's story, it leads to him becoming a thief, thus leading him to defend the thief in Outworld, to him defeating emperor Kotal Kahn and gaining favor from him, leading to his group getting the medallion as well as capturing and killing Mileena. So it is in absolutely no way "unimportant", sure, they could rewrite the story if you remove his sexuality, but if you need to rewrite and, specially, change many parts of the story because of a detail, that detail is important.

Seriously, though, we have a good ammount of characters that could be LGBT by culture only, but we also have Voldo. Not because of the way he moves, but lets be real, he is a sex slave, his master is a man and he serves him willingly. Also, he has one attack where he puts the enemy "face to face" with his crotch, and he can only do that attack against men. Back on topic, I was wondering if we could have someone whose main weapon is actually ranged, I know it would be hard to pull off, maybe a bow, or throwing daggers, or even a rifle...

Definitely those that use melee weapons either edged or blunt, such as:

The Black Knights from Namco's Dark Souls.

latest

The corrupted one.... Artorias of the Abyss:

A New Londo Darkwraith (though one could argue that Revenant is already present...)

The long forgotten Death Adder from Golden Axe.

Characters that I want to see in a future SC game:
-An Aztec and/or Mayan warrior
-A warrior from an African tribe (Zande or Zulu)
-A Maori Warrior Chieftain
-A Middle Eastern Assassin
-A Russian Oprichiki Soldier
-An Oni character
-A Rajput fighter from India.

That's what I have so far.

I see you watched Deadliest Warrior too...

Genuinely dont know WHAT I want in terms of new characters. Weapons are easier. Bladed Fans, Sais, Hookswords, Small Mace, A real duel katana style, duel nunchakus, new dao user, a decent non zweihandle straight sword style. And Zas and Talim to come back.

All I can say in terms of characters is fuck da noobs. I'm pretty safe in saying that I do not like Z.W.E.I, Viola, Patroklos and Pyrrah. The trouble is I can say that with two of them they are too anime and the other two are just a fighting style I will never get on with (SwandShe). But then I will sit there and say I love Ivy and I wanted to play as Xiba and Leixia in story mode.

No thanks, I prefer the first image.

Anyways, how about someone who uses dual sais? I could easily see a femme fatale assassin-type character wielding those. In fact, I'm surprised we haven't seen a character like that in SC yet.
