Siegfried Returns to Face His Nightmares

  • Admin
Bandai Namco revealed Siegfried today. It should be interesting to see how they incorporate him into the game considering he is also Nightmare in SOULCALIBUR VI. Returning stages Proving Grounds and Indian Port from SC3 have been revealed as well. Check out the trailer below!

WHENS SOULCALIBUR VI
I have to say, this is my least favourite iteration of the Siegfried plate armour. Yes, he looks overtly thick and wide. They've clearly veered too much towards this thing a lot of video games do where plate has to be super bulky with huge unnecessary lumps on shoulders and waist etc. which make people in plate look like space marines.

I also particularly dislike the bare skin showing where there should by all logic be mail or at least cloth (as in all past games). It looks like he's wearing a suit of armour put on top of nothing, which is ridiculous and looks stupid.

And yes, I know Soul Calibur 4 had him wearing a completely fantastical crystal armour, but even that looked better and had mail in places without plate.

I'll still play him, but I'm disappointed by the design. Hoping for a better secondary costume.

The lower half is 99% the same as Nightmare.
It looks good on Nightmare because he has massive shoulders and the giant monster arm.
On Siegfried his wide base makes him look bottom heavy compounded with the fact that Siegfried has smaller shoulder pauldron armor + exposed armpits/shoulders which throws off his balance.

A lot of posters feel the same way.
He ends up looking like this: (overly designed, high-fantasy yet with exposed flesh that makes it seem incomplete rather than intentional).

Absolutely. This type of design simply fits Nightmare a lot better. With Siegfried, the proportions just look off.

WHAT?! May be my maths failed, but wasn't Siegfried still Nightmare in the times this game is set?

He was.

At the start of SC1, Siegfried was just about fully possessed by Soul Edge and had become Nightmare. He has always been able to resist the sword for periods of time, however, and therein lies the selectable character Siegfried. The longest was in the gap between SC1 and SC2, when the sword was heavily damaged. At that point the sword would only take over when he fell asleep.

It remains to be seen how much of the SC1 and SC2 timeline overlap in SC6.

Nice to see Sieg sharing some similar armor pieces (specifically the waist, leg bits) with Nightmare to signify that they are one. =3

idk why so many ppl seem to hate the crystal armour? I think it's brilliant, especailly because he IS the wielder of Soul Calibur. Tbh Soul Calibur itself was a bit too much - I don't really like weapons that COMPLETELY defy physics. Sure, big ass slabs of metal are ridiculous and impossible to use, but they still would hold together in real life, whereas Soul Calibur was just floating crystals.
