Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

2 days of Yakuza 6/MH:World, a little disappointment, and back to the grind. Kinda wish we had even a simple roadmap of when they'd drop reveals, not that that would be normal to do. Maybe a rough window they'd aim to drop info each month or whatever. Might not help much, but it'd stop us from guessing at when and disappointing ourselves. I feel like that'd be better as a way to maintain focus on waiting for the next bit of info, or perhaps drop a rough small-ish window for when the next info drop would be at the end of trailers/interviews. Stupid idea maybe, but eh. Pretty sure even a more specific window of when the release might/will be would be a big enough deal on its own for some of us at this point.

Can we expect a free playable demo to be made available sometime shortly before the release of the game? I'm not sure if any other recent fighting games did so, but at least Dissidia NT (lol) had an open beta for quite a while with a rotating cast of playable characters.

If we did get a demo, it would make sense to just be that same demo build that's been floating around for the past three months. I'm not sure how excited I actually would be to play it, seeing as how we've seen more than enough footage over these three months, I think, all it would really do is compound how whenever they do show new stuff that we won't see it in action. I'm not even expecting a new playable build at E3, even if they show off 4+ new characters, game modes, story content, and announce a release date. It'll still be the same old build.

If all you want is to be able to play the game early, pretty much every recent big-name fighting game from the last couple of years that didn't have an arcade version has had an online beta. They kind of have to have one if they don't want a giant mess on the first week of release., since internal testing has been proven insufficient for online features in competitive games.

Not necessarily. It may not be a new build for internationally insignificant things like tournaments and local events, but E3 is a huge milestone for any project. If they don't pull out all the stops for E3, then what else is there? Evo? It's plausible, but the problem with using Evo is that it won't give them the casual exposure that they need to attract the Witcher audience that E3 will.

You never know with demo builds. Perhaps a bad example, but wasn't there a Guilty Gear or Blazblue game fairly recently where the public demo had the full roster, or all but 1-2 characters by the end of it? Wouldn't expect it, but I feel like the current 6 character build would be best-suited for it. Maybe the 9 character build with Geralt, Ivy, and Zas if they fix the issues with it. That said, I feel like they'd probably exclude Geralt from that kinda demo to further incline those interested in him to buy the game, or try other characters to get a feel for it in the meantime. 6-8 would be a good range for testing I'd think, especially if they had multiplayer in the open beta/demo.

Speaking of a free playable demo, if we bugged them on twitter about one what are the chances of it happening? I mean they already have a build ready, all they'd need to do is put it on xbox and ps store (and on steam? idk if steam does demos lol)
Asking for an open online beta would be the best way to ask for something like that. Companies largely abandoned demos after a market study found that demos tend to hurt sales.

Anyone want Tekken like slow mo feature? I don't even like Tekken, but the slow mo does look cool and dramatic (been watching on Youtube). Do Tekken community like it, or hate it?

The slow-mo we have now when someone takes a round is kinda cool... Until, that is, I see a piece of equipment (like Nightmare's cape) that is not encompassed by the effect, which makes it move at normal speed... Is it silly or is it just me?

I can't wait for a random ass Thursday to be the day where they will release 4 characters + release date and no will will be waiting. It will be like a twisted version of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" where we will be the townsfolk not helping the kid because we cried wolf too many times.
